Tonight, when Adam Wainwright takes the mound with Molina behind the plate they will be making their 325th start as a battery setting the all-time MLB record. Here's hoping that SDS can at least sneak in a moment for them breaking a record that has stood for 47 years and one that we probably won't see broken ever again.

I know everyone is paying attention to Pujols and Judge but this record is no slouch either. MLB.com has an article listing some interesting Wainwright-Molina stats and facts.

    https://www.mlb.com/news/adam-wainwright-yadier-molina-stats-and-facts

    A few notables

    • They actually had 8 starts in triple A before being promoted.
    • There first start together was April 6th, 2007
    • Wainwrights first hitter as a starter was Craig Biggio of the Astros who were still in the NL Central at that time.
    • Among active duos, Kyle Hendriks and Willson Contreras are the closest to them at 105 starts (yes, 230 starts fewer).

I do hope SDS can acknowledge it in some way in DD as this is a record that will never be broken again. I know they already have their 99 cards so at least a mention in a Moment would be good.

Just think, they could’ve obliterated this record had Waino not missed 2 seasons to injury. Doesn’t matter though, this record will never be broken.

You know who else probably said that same thing: Tigers’ Mickey Lolich and Bill Freehan

I doubt that. Both Freehan and Lolich were with Detroit from 63 to 75. Freehan caught more than 100 games every one of those seasons. Lolich only made fewer than 30 starts once in his career with the Tigers and that was his rookie year. Four of those years he actually made 40 or more starts.

Lolich was traded after 1975 which is what ended their run.

Wainwright gets the win in this historic game for him and Yadi.

That win extends their lead in another MLB record category as the battery with the most wins.

Also of note - I hit 2 HRs in my first two at bats with supercharged Molina.

Very nice. Looking forward to using them both.

You are the most respectful Cubs fan. And I actually think most Cubs fans are chill. Just for this I'll make an all Cubs team for my next mystery map time killer between programs. Banks is killing it for me.

    They supercharged both of them.

That is why I said to keep them 99. I guess I got the news earlier?

Keep them 99 or keep them supercharged?

They both already had 99 overall cards prior to tonight. It was those cards that got supercharged not their live series

You are correct, I meant keep them at their supercharged attributes. I am a fan of both players, and think they deserve these cards for the rest of the game.

    Sorry for the confusion.

As an aside and to give credit where it is due I thought it was great that Yelich just took the first pitch so that the ball could be tossed aside and saved. You could tell that he had no intention of swinging.

I had been mashing with Milestone Molina even before the supercharge. He has been my best hitter since I added him.

Here is an interesting stat that I find very hard to believe

Yadier Molina is a member of 3 of the Top 6 Active batteries

    Adam Wainwright (325, 1st)
    Jack Flaherty (69, 4th)
    Miles Mikolas (61, 6th)

It floors me that Flaherty and Mikolas in the top 6.

Not that surprising to me tbh. There isn't a whole lot of catchers that stay around for more than 4-5 years. The only other catchers I can think of that have been on the same team for a long time are Perez, who hasn't had any consistent pitching since 2015, and Contreras, who only has Hendricks that has been there alongside him.

It's not Yadi's part of the equation that am baffled about. I did not think Flaherty and Mikolas with their various injuries had near that many starts for the Cardinals.
