Seems like if you are pretty good at PCI placement vision is not that important of a Stat. Maybe on HOF it could be a problem but if you center up the PCI much of the time who cares how big the outer circle is. Am I missing something?

I guess it helps with fouling off pitches. Other than that not sure why it exists. To me Contact is king. Especially on HOF or Legend.

Check out Scann on YouTube. He does a great job explaining how vision effects hitting.

They say it effects timing windows, and you ll notice the difference, Schwarbombs and players similar smash the ball, but man is it easy to hit with Clemente,Jackie.and players like them.

It's important with timing windows. You get more consistent timing windows with high vision guys. However, I find vision less important for pure power hitters (think Adam Dunn) who also have extreme pull hitting tendencies. I second the Scann video on this topic. He did an awesome job. Also, go to custom practice and read the strategy guide. It explains everything about vision and the other stats.

The thing that is hard about this game is that there are so many variables. Attributes matter, but there are other things like “extreme pull” that also impact things. LS Quirks are a big one for me that can offset the need for vision. For example Trout is not a high vision card but he normally has “dead red” and “breaking ball”. His card plays like a high vision card in my opinion.

Does anyone have a source regarding: "the Vision attribute affecting the batter's timing windows"?

I have always thought that the batter's Vision attribute counters the Pitcher's K/9 attribute...and only affects the batter's outer PCI ring size.

This is taken from the in game hitting tips page 8/8–

“Plate vision is similar to contact but focuses solely on strikeout components-the rate the batter puts the ball in play and his swing and miss rate. This adjusts hitting components like your timing window, turns borderline misses into fouls, and turns borderline fouls into balls in play etc…

In summary, vision is quantity, contact is quality, and power is speed off the bat.”
