At first I thought all these errors in the outfield were because my team wasn’t stacked and I had guys that could hit, but were bronze fielders or worse.

I just had Mookie Betts, a guy with a 97 fielding rating, miss a routine flyball to right field. And I mean *routine. * It wasn’t smoked to his right or left, and he missed the ball while on a dead sprint. No. It was hit high, and was a can of corn. Error.

I like that fielding attributes matter. But if they matter, and weak fielders make errors, so I upgrade my team for better defenders, and they still make worse errors than the bronze guys, what’s the point?

It’s time to fix this, SDS. I am in a league/chat with a lot of longtime players of this game; guys who have played through a lot of patches and glitches for years. We have never talked about NOT playing this game. Well, we are talking about it now. That’s troubling because I know we aren’t alone.

Fix the fielding. Then the pitching. Make this game playable.

Fielding animations in this game are weird. They lock on really early or not at all. They take over your fielders as you're running and almost warp you into the route they want you to take.

The fielding last year was pretty good I thougt personally, there was no reason to revamp it.

I was using Judge in RF and he's dropped, been hit by, had the "where'd it go" animation, or made no attempt to catch at least 6 can of corn fly balls. I was just grinding some inning stats with Pirates and had the rookie Cutch in CF who isn't terrible and he had a line drive come right at him and it just hit him in the stomach. Made no attempt to catch it at all. The game is playing like 19 played before they patched fielding to reduce errors drastically.

hi Maurice (and everyone), check this out:

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_GNrnzzeNQrr4apXXYoKQsDuzBqeEQfC/view?usp=drivesdk

SDS: are you sure that Ketel Marte has ever done something like this when he's fielding IRL?
    with 79 fielding attribute?

Please stop wasting developing resources on RTTS, and make more effort to fix this (and other bugs)

If you don't get that awkward animation where they overrun the ball and stab back to catch it say a prayer.

The fact that players can literally forget there is a ball that just hit them and not attempt to pick it up is a travesty. At least it's an even playing field though right 🤷🏼‍♂️

Welcome to MLB The Show 20 where fielding attributes don't matter and the bruises are plenty...

Chuck_Dizzle29 just reminded me that SDS considers a rating of 60 for each attribute to be the MLB average.

This means, of course, that even the bronze fielders should be able to catch routine flyballs.

A player wouldn’t even have made it to a major league outfield if he couldn’t catch a flyball. Hitting a 102mph is hard. Catching a flyball is easy. In this game it’s the opposite. Up is down, left is right, okay is better than perfect.

You patched fielding in ‘19. Please do it again for ‘20. We are losing interest. Fast.

Interesting, a “flaw” in the game happening at the right time for you to lose the game?

And we have people saying this ain’t happening and we are making ourselves believe.

I mean it’s very rare. There are other factors that played into it. I walked a guy on a close full count pitch, and also hung a mistake to another batter. I’m not going to say it’s all on that one moment, but yeah I don’t think that trout should have a fly ball go right through him lol.

Most times, those mistakes are in big moments, but the outcome could have also been altered by making better pitches or having a better approach at different points in the game. We just like to deflect from sucking it up from time to time.

I understand, but bro, the ball went through your guy and cost you the game....you may be able to brush it off but some players don’t want games to be decided like that. And when it does happen, they come on here, share their story and are instantly attacked by being called conspiracy theorist and complaining.

I typically don’t try to complain because I’m confident in my ability to overcome it by lighting up their pitcher the next inning. Historically it makes me agitated and more focused when I make my next trip to the plate. Plus most players will be extremely careful with how they pitch so I typically get into great counts. I do agree it shouldn’t happen, but I’m also not the type of person to blame the game all the time... if that makes sense haha

Not saying that you are, but just trying to make a general point about my mindset haha

It sucks to see this happening but feels good knowing it’s not just happening to my guys. I had Mickey mantle run to a ball last night and it went in between his glove and his head. It rolled back to the wall and scored 3 runs for the guy.

If y'all remember, this happened in 16 all of the time. Fielding and Bunt Cheese were rampant. BUT hitting was good and competitive.
