One of my favorite aspects of this game is making predictions and seeing reveals of the cards. I think the All Star game presents a lot of interesting possibilities. Give your predictions for the following and feel free to add a category if you think of something.
-
Who will represent each team? (Pick as few or as many as you like)
-
Who will be the OP card: (think Degrom or Trea Turner from last year)
-
Who will be in the HRD (meaning we get cards for them)
-
Who will have a big AS game get the in game cards (like Vlad and Peralta etc from last year)
-
Who will have the most useless card?
-
Who will have the ultimate sleeper card ?(something that becomes a mainstay that nobody expected like Soto and Reyes last year).
-
-
Most op pitchers will probably be Sandy Alcantara and Corbin Burnes
I think Julio Rodriguez and Alexander Kirk might be beasts.
Most useless card….I’m not sure any will be useless but I think not many people are excited for Alek Manoah except Blue Jays fans.
-
Most Useless will be the card from whatever teams only send 1 player

Not sure if Manoah gets one because he was already a FOTF player. It will be Guerrero for the Jays.
I will do the National League latter
Yankees - Judge (A no brainer)
Red Sox - Devers (However he already has a POTM card so this is a question mark)
Blue Jays - Vlad Guerrero
Rays - Shane McClanahan (This could be a sleeper for the pitchers)
Orioles - Jorge Lopez (Again see Devers, these picks could get interesting)White Sox - Tim Anderson
Guardians - Jose Ramirez
Tigers - Gregory Soto
Royals - (No idea unless it's Benintendi again)
Twins - Luis Arraez (You read that right)Mariners - Julio Rodriguez
Astros - Framber Valdez
Rangers - Martin Perez? Do they have anyone else?
Angels - Shohei Ohtani -

Angels - Shohei OhtaniI agree with you on the Shane McClanahan card. He’s been lights out all year. Only issue is he needs a 5 pitch imo. I really liked Tim Anderson Field of dreams card last year, might be a cool card.

Ok National League
Braves - Travis D'Arnaud or William Contreras
Mets - Pete Alonso or Edwin Diaz
Marlins - Jazz Chisholm
Phillies - Bryce Harper
Nationals - Juan SotoCubs - Wilson Contreras
Cardinals - Paul Goldschmidt (This could be a card with huge power numbers, he's putting together a MVP season)
Reds - Luis Castillo?
Pirates - David Bednar
Brewers - Josh HaderDodgers - Trea Turner (Will it be as good as last years card?)
Giants - Joc Pederson
Rockies - C.J Cron (I don't know if they have anyone else)
Padres - Manny Machado
Diamondbacks - Joe Mantiply (Another sleeper)I'll end this by saying I really wish SDS would do all time All Stars like Ken Griffey Jr, Cal Ripken etc instead but I know those are coming at the end of the year unfortunately

I’m sure both of them will get Takashi cards eventually. Same with Tony Gwynn,Hank Aaron,Nolan Ryan,Bob Gibson and whoever else. I really want a good Pedro Martinez card that’s better than last year.

I guess I should answer my own questions hahaha
AL-
Yankees- Aaron Judge
Blue Jays- Alejandro Kirk
Red Sox- I'm gonna take a wild guess and say JD Martinez will be a sub and will get the nod. Short of that, Devers or Xander flip a coin
Rays- Shane McClanahan
Orioles- Jorge Lopez (or maybe Austin Hays as a replacement)AL Central-
Twins- Luis Arraez
White Sox- Tim Anderson
Tigers- Gregory Soto
Indians- Jose Ramirez
Royals- Andrew BenintendiAL West-
A's- Paul Blackburn
Rangers- Martin Perez
Astros- Jose Altuve
Mariners- Julio Rodriguez
Angels- Ohtani I guess, or Yrout, both don't need 1 as they have multiple diamonds. -
NL East-
Mets- Starling Marte
Marlins- Sandy Alcantara although I would love a Jazz Chisolm
Braves- Max Fried
Phillies- Bryce Harper
Nationals- Juan SotoNL Central-
Cubs- Ian Happ
Pirates- David Bednar
Cardinals- Nolen Arenado
Reds- Luis Castillo
Brewers- Josh HaderNL West-
Dodgers- Tony Gonsolin
Padres- Manny Machado
Rockies- CJ Cron
DBacks- Joe Mantiply
Giants- Joc PedersonThe hardest ones to predict are the teams with several players- Dodgers, Yankees, Blue Jays, Astros, Braves and Mets
-
I wouldn't mind seeing a special Pujols and Cabrera Diamond card.
-
The teams with 1 allstar are guaranteed unless SDS waits for replacements to be announced so I'll just guess the ones with multiple.
Red Sox:Bogaerts(this team would benefit from SDS waiting for replacements
Yankees: Cortes
Blue Jays: Kirk
Guardians: J-Ram
Tigers: Soto(this is basically guaranteed too)
Twins: Arraez
Astros: Valdez
Angels: RF Ohtani
Braves: Darnaud
Mets: Jeff McNeil
Marlins: Sandy
Phillies: Harper
Cubs: Willson Contreras
Brewers: Hader
Cardinals: Goldschmidt
Dodgers: Gonsolin
Padres: Machado -

Agreed. Maybe even drop their 99 for a collection itemize they did last year with Ohtani and Prince Fielder? Two more 99s won't break the game considering they're both 1Bs at best haha.

I actually hope they don't, but not because a 99 Cabrera and Pujols would break the game, but because I think the legacy picks for the ASG is dumb. It doesn't look so bad with 2 of the greatest hitters ever, but the whole reason this legacy ASG selection thing even exists imo is to give players an end of career boost to HOF resumes. Pujols and Cabrera don't need that boost, but some of the players that will be added to those spots in the future definitely will(think guys with Careers like Greinke)

I never even thought of that. It's funny though I was thinking it's pretty crazy that Pujols had only been in 10 ASGs which is a lot but nothing compared to the stars of my childhood like Ripken, Gwynn, Ozzie etc.
I also didn't really consider that this was a start of a new trend. I wish they'd have given it to Molina and Waino as well but that obviously would be ridiculous having 3 from the same franchise. I'm obviously bias though.

I guess we will just have to wait and see how these picks are used in the future. I can't imagine that a single legacy all-star selection tilts the HOF meter much at all for any player. By the time you are at the stage of your career that you would be considered for a legacy selection I would hope their case has already been made.

I agree with you, but I think you are underestimating how nitpickey a good portion of The HOF voters are with their selections. 7 Allstar appearances instead of 6 could sway 30 voters for a guy like Votto

I'd love a good Arraez card - 125 vision, L/R contact. Like an old school carew where everything is a hit
Yes, this could definitely be a sleeper for sure. The popular pick would be Buxton of course but sometimes it's more fun to go with the guy that's having a Breakout.

No please not Buxton again, I don't know why we need certain players to have 3/4/5 different cards, personally I would love to use new players from the Twins I haven't used before. Arraez would be perfect.
