my god you guys are a broken [censored] record.
I realize it is a pain to see if you are not a fan of the Cardinals and it's cool to insult Cardinal fans but let's be honest, if Goldy played for any other team, then that teams fans would be complaining just as much. Nobody likes to see worthy players on their favorite team snubbed.
It will pass once it has been vented.
Kind of like Pujols, notice in his final year he is not getting NEAR the amount of red carpets in away games that Jeter or Ortiz got their final years, and he is a superior hitter to both, with far superior numbers.
Reason: Market
I didn't even think about this until an analyst brought it up on MLB Net, they would have buildings and statues if Pujols played in NY his career
In what world does Pujols have "far superior" numbers to Jeter?
Power numbers, sure. But to say he's "far superior" to Jeter is a ludicrous statement.
You can’t be serious dude??
This reminds me of the time where many were saying Kris Bryant was a better overall player than Arenado hahaha

Another first baser? Although I get your point
But everybody complained about to many first basers and I think they listenedSo be angry at the community

He’ll get a juiced 99 for the ASG if he keeps it up. Patience.

Pujols has had better numbers than Ortiz, but game tied in the 9th and I'm taking Ortiz over Pujols any day. Ortiz was known for being clutch and I'm not talking w/ RISP numbers... talking winning games at the end better than anybody ever has. Ortiz had more post season walkoffs in 1 year than anybody else had in their entire career. He would have 3-4 walkoffs and 3-4 go ahead 9th inning rbi per season... most guys can't do that in full 15+ season careers. the guy was just ridiculous with the game on the line, nobody has ever been as consistently clutch as he was in Boston. Sorry for the homer rant, but man I miss that guy.

A henchman is a different thing. What good would a Goldschmidt henchman be when they just released a 91?

Don't apologize for being a homer to these Cardinal fans. They are the very definition of homers.
Saying Papi was better treated than Pujols by SDS only because of his market, is moronic.
Papi was the most clutch player ever, and meant more to his city than 100 Pujolses combined.
Also, Cardinal whiner homers:
Are you crying MARKET because of two lightning players this year?
Well just last year you had:
Tyler O'Neill - St. Louis
Byron Buxton - Minnesota
Robbie Ray - Toronto
Kyle Schwarber - WashingtonLarge markets?
Just stop whining.

Jeter only played for the Yankees, Papi made his name in Bawston after Minnesota gave up on him. Fat Albert chased the money, left St. Louis in the lurch. Only came back for his final season, no one cares.
Yeah, been irrelevant for almost 10 years before retiring, his dominant days are way past. If you're 15-20 years old, you probably don't remember his MVP days; that's how long it's been.

Ummmm
As a Boston fan who respects the hell out of Jeter. Also a transplant midwesterner who hates 99% of St. Louis fans, as well as Fat Albert and giggles every time I see a Cards fan complaining on here, Albert was and always will be a far superior player minus defense and that’s debatable.

In the real world. I have watched and played baseball since the 70's. Cabrera and Pujols are two of the best hitters I have ever seen.
Jeter would have been nothing had he not played in NY. One of the most over-rated players ever. Wasn't even the best SS on his own team. A-Rod was a far superior defensive player.
Not in his own division. Nomar was far better. If you don't know this, your baseball knowledge is severely lacking. -
Ok too many first basemen? Don’t wanna give it to Goldy? Fine! At least give him a Topps Now card that’s applicable. Speaking of Topps Now, why does SDS only use 3 or 4 per week? I mean I can understand only wanting a few to be free, but Why can’t the other Topps Now cards that Topps makes be released in the market???

I think they are trying to keep their options open a bit more in the later months by doing this. If they gave out 6-7 a week you would easily run out of players to use without repeating

Nobody can understand how big baseball and Big Papi are here in Boston. I remember when he was recently shot in the D.R. and the Red Sox owners had their private plane their the following day to get him to a Boston hospital for the best care possible... the mood in MA. that day was like superheroes showed up and saved the day. My mother (70) doesn't even like sports, but she would tell you how much she loves Papi.

Pujols had arguably the best 10 year stretch of any baseball player in the history of the sport, not sure what else you need. Are you not old enough to have remembered those years? Jeter isn't even in the same conversation as Pujols stat wise.

Ok? But what makes him "far superior"? When someone says "far superior" i think of a comparison between someone like Pujols and someone like Chili Davis. Other-worldly vs average. And what good is a 10 year stretch when the rest of the years are good but nothing amazing? I didnt realize that the argument everyone was attempting to make was simply a 10 year sample size and not a full careers worth of work.
Yea we can just ignore the fact that Jeter has more hits in 200 less games, a better CAREER batting average and OBP and just focus solely on the power numbers in a 10 year period and say Pujols was "far superior" to that career bench player Derek Jeter.

I'm a Red Sox fan and hate the Yankees with a passion, but this is my take:
Both Pujols and Jeter have one CLEAR advantage over the other:
Stat-heads will favor Pujols because their individual stats aren't close.
Traditional fans and those that value winning, will clearly favor Jeter. There's no way Pujols impacted his team overall more positively than Jeter.
They're both All-time greats but for different reasons.
-
Oh wait....i found something other than power numbers where Pujols was "far superior" to Jeter. He grounded into the most double plays of all time.
