Has The Sinker Completely Ruined This Game For Anyone Else?
-
The Sinker has ruined the game for a lot of people. My best advice if you don't want to put the game down is to cheat you pci inside if you are having trouble with em that way you can just drop it if the sinker comes and react to breaking balls on the outside. you gotta try and treat it like real baseball and look for certain pitches early in the count if you can help it

Its not about the sinkers, its about the Mets baby, lets go Mets, go Mets, hit a home run Mets, lets go Mets.

I know I’ve posted about sinkers a few times, but I was wondering if anyone else feels similarly. I guess most people who do stopped playing, but in the last 3 or 4 years the pitch has just made the game extremely unfun. You can sit on the pitch, know it’s coming inside, and it’s still unhittable. Every game now is just a 3-2 sinker fest with unrealistic sinkers flying all over the zone. Used to play a lot and be World Series, now I can barely play a game without being completely burnt out. Clearly they have no intention of fixing it. Oh well. Guess the few times I play will be RTTS
You have to adjust! there is nothing more rewarding than taking a 98mph sinker deep. As soon as the hitter starts their swing animation be ready to swing. Also you have to pick it up ASAP! If you can take this pitch away from your opponent you will prob win the game.

Agreed, you cant expect to be on time with every pitch. You have to cheat sometimes.

It all started with Kluber in 20.

I am not the greatest player but I don't have that much of an issue with them , any issues I do have I blame on the user - I swing at everything lol - You have to learn to hit them - under is a pop up on top is a grounder - you have to square it up and go with it , trying to pull an outside sinker is a very low success rate.
It’s just tough because unless you know for sure it’s coming, it looks like offspeed and then cuts armsife like it’s a slider
So basicly you mean tye same issue real baseball players have with picking up a sinker gamers have the same issue....mhm how bout that
Real life sinkers don't rise out of the hand, so no. The sinkers in this game are broke and have been for years. Maybe your eye isn't good enough to see it.
It is even more frustrating because they worked properly in the older games and SDS has seemingly made a deliberate decision to break this pitch for no reason

For me outlier and the high sinkers only the ruin the game because the players I want to use (the classic guys... Mays, Aaron, Kiner, Schmidt, etc) have slow swings and are really hard to use against high sinks on the hands up and in... Especially not being a top player, but if they can quicken those guys swings, it might be different.

My biggest issue is that high sinkers don't flatten out like they are supposed to. They made them less accurate but that doesnt really fix the issue of it still moving 6+ inches up in the zone. High sinkers are supposed to be mistakes.
The worst thing is that the fix is so easy. If a sinker is aimed high, just have the game turn it into a 2 seam fastball when the pitch is thrown.

Sinkers are 2-seamers...shrugs

Sinkers are part of the reason I stopped playing lol. Makes it completely unfun to play.

We just going to forget about the last two years of high sinkers being OP?. Could have sworn this forum was littered with posts about it in ‘20 and ‘21.

Maybe in terms as to how much break but the pitches are still quite a bit different obviously. Sinkers break down more while 2 seams have more run horizontally which is also easier to adjust and why sinkers are stronger. Although this year, the 2 seam doesn't seem to have any PAR adjustments for throwing it high so in that sense its better than a sinker up in the zone.
I will say, they just need to impose a break penalty to sinkers above the waist. Should be a simple thing to adjust.

They fixed the sinkers. You can’t throw dots with them when throwing them high consistently like you could in years past. Just don’t swing at the high ones, He’ll throw a ton of balls doing that.

I would not have a problem with the sinker, if all it did was sink. Upon release the ball goes up first, then it sinks. Idk how the good players can “see” that. Sliders I can see. Change ups I can see. Curveballs I can see. Fastballs I can see very well. I just can’t see the sinker at all!

I got bored at work and stopped by.

You only get to call your 2 seam a sinker if you throw it and it has a significant amount of downward movement. Most people throwing a 2 seam get arm side movement with a little vertical drop but not enough to take the ball out of the batters swing path. If you can throw a 2 seam and get it to really drop vertically with some arm side action your on to something that will miss bats and get you weak contact ground balls. Not all 2 seams are built the same.
-
The only good advice I can give you on them is to use strike zone view. The sinkers on same handed match ups (right vs right or left verses left) will have to come back to the zone a little bit out of the hand to end up in the zone.
Go into custom practice and work on picking it up from the hand. It will at least help make sure you aren't swinging at ones out of the zone.
The artificial rise out of the hand is to allow the pitch recognition. We have no depth perception when hitting in a view behind the hitter. The caviat here, is those sinkers that go up in the zone should not hump from the hand and also flatten out.
There's a reason 4 seam fastballs up work, and sinkers don't. An elevated Sinker is not spinning the same way a four seam does. So up in the zone the pitcher has lost some spin rate and it will only break down slightly. It doesn't ride like a 4 seam and is why sinkers up get crushed more.
And to suggest the PAR penalty has done anything is foolish. There's already several pitchers in the game who can dot their sinkers up, just wait till the 99s start rolling in.

Bad servers plus 97+ mph sinkers are unhittable
