He was commenting on a pop up, calling it a warning track catch. Lol

You ever see those old timer games? Where they have the modified fence about half way in the outfield. I assume they are commentating on that. They never switched it back over for the regulation field

I was playing a CPU game last night, pitching with Bob Gibson and when he came up to bat the commentary spent all the time talking about his walk off home run in the in the 1988 world series.

I have heard a lot of commentary that did not match up with the situation in the game but this one made me shake my head a little more than usual. Makes me wonder if they will occasionally talk about Bob Gibson when Kirk Gibson bats?

I played an online game where my opponent was using Bob Gibson and they said the same comment. Neither of us even had Kirk Gibson on our rosters.

I know people complain about the commentary every year. It’s usually just boring and repetitive but this year they make so many mistakes. They are wrong about players, how many outs, the count, it’s ridiculous how often they are wrong. I’ll bring a pitcher in for a 1 out save and they say it’s his first career win and it was a complete game every time.

I turned off the commentary on day one.
Me thinks SDS might have done some cost cutting on play by play.

Commentary has tons of bugs. They frequently get the scores wrong and situational things wrong.

That ain't happening. All you can hope for is that they continue to record more lines of content each year to build up more variety and also fix the issues with commentary not matching the game situation.

The community cried for years that they wanted new commentators because the old stuff was stale. Well, be careful what you ask for.

They were practically brothers from different mothers, so understandable how one could be confused between the two! 🙄 😄

The situational commentary is often distractingly bad.

I love hearing about my go ahead HR in the late innings in my first AB.

Yeah, DeRosa and Matty V were great. The thing that bothers me is they had a full stream about this feature as a selling point. It demonstrates how disconnected they are from their own game and community. Did they really think this was a need/feature/benefit? And everyone hates this commenrary.

A new commentary team has been a highly requested feature for years now. Every year people complained that they were tired of the same old commentary and that it had grown stale. So they were listening to at least some of the community.

But it turned out to be a case of be careful what you ask for.

I dont mind having new commentary but yea, its going to take some time for them to get this one right. And like most commentary...If you play enough games everything will still sound recycled.

Some of this years greatest hits include:

    • Calling the ball a deep fly when its lifted to shallow OF.
    • Calling the pinch hitter in a DD game a "pitcher with some pop"
    • The "insert pitcher here" gets his first win, even though the winning team doesn't even have him on the roster (IE my opponent used the Price RP card and game said he got his first win even though I won the game and don't have Price on my roster"
    • The numerous times they say something like "a good take with 2 strikes" on the first pitch of the AB (or something similar).

You should try to get Kirk Gibson to PITCH in a game, and see if it happens.

I suspect we'll see a fix this year and then much more next season. When it works, it'll be worthwhile. I actually chuckle over the mistakes I hear (like tying run on base when the other team actually has a huge lead). My biggest gripe is the continuous talking during the at bat. It's incredibly distracting.
