I am completely confused on how to advance in these programs. At the moment I have 117 points in the April program, 16 points in the May program, and 84 points in the big dog program. I just got through playing a CPU game with all the monthly awards players I have (4) and Topps Now players. Which I won. I didn’t advance at all in any of those programs. Now I know the big dog program has a 20 point showdown. I don’t like showdowns. Is there another way to advance in this program? And what about the monthly awards? Last year it seemed there were alternate ways to advance. Unless I’m wrong (not surprising) there doesn’t seem to be now. I’ve noticed people complaining about not getting XP but I think it’s frustration about these programs. I hope SDS can address this.

It's the easiest showdown you will ever do, trust me if i can do it anyone can.

Not as easy as last years FOD showdown, but still pretty easy.

May Topps now only has 16 points available until Fri, when the next set of cards is released.

have to do showdown to complete Big Dog.
you need to check which missions are active on the april one, its progressive so each mission you complete gets you something that you then have a mission for. no need to buy anything for it(will make it quicker but not necessary)just need to make sure doing the right mission.
May MA - all thats been released so far,you have progressed as far as you can. more on friday.

I think I figured out what I was doing wrong with April. I played my most recent CPU game with April, May and others mixed when you have to play only with April. So I revamped the squad with April players at every position (except 1B, which doesn't have an April POM) and I'll play that squad next time out.

As for Big Dog showdown, sigh, guess I'll try that one again. I wish I was better at them. Even the easy ones give me problems. I do remember getting through the FOD and the Scherzer showdowns, but otherwise I don't bother. Guess I'll have to here.

It’s easier because it’s only bosses/elimination games, so if you fail you don’t have to do a whole path again. Pick RH hitters for Franco, take 2 strikes/behind or ahead in count and middle of the plate perks when available, take 2 strikes each time and drain the guy.

If you can average 5+ pitches per outs vs Franco, you’re golden.

Man I wish they would let us increase the difficulty or make the pitch speeds faster Franco looks like he is throwing a wiffle ball and the choppiness of the stadium makes it worse

I stink at all Showdowns too! I hate having to do them. I’m still trying to finish up the April monthly award to get Rizzo and Dawson. I’m stuck at 139, and can’t seem to get those xps needed to get the points. So frustrating! I would just like to get Dawson and Rizzo and be done with April so I can focus on the Big Dog and other programs coming out!

The programs are still a bit of a slog, especially the monthly program. You have to earn PXP with all of the Monthly Award players but they slowly reward you those players so that you are almost doing them one at a time instead of stacking your lineup.

use the pitchers for the PXP grind....and yes the hitting one is a slog no matter what, but play 9 inning CPU games and the pitchers should amass 500-700 PXP

If you have the stubs, rent the hitters you don't have and then sell them back for a tiny profit. Just DON'T lock them in on the optional collection. If you do this you won't even need to do the Andre mission.

What I did, and it seems to help, is make a squad of just monthly players. That would logically be the best way to get the XP. And it has started to work for me. Slowly but surely, I'll get to Dawson, though not before the Spring program finishes.

And I'm like you on Showdowns. Hate 'em. I saw some tips from @smalltownkid1990 last night though that I'm going to try. He said to work the count. Don't swing at anything because the computer will do its best to walk you. Another tip from the same person was don't swing until you get to two strikes and also get the perk that gives you a boost with two strikes. He also suggested get a fast guy on the bench to pinch run when you get the winning run on base.

Thanks again to @smalltownkid1990. Those suggestions sound worth a try.

And thanks to everyone for the (well almost everyone) for the suggestions on the two programs made in this thread. They have helped.

I'm serious. If you have a starter and 5 guys in the lineup, it'll go super quickly. Then once you finish, take them out of your lineup and sell the ones you bought. You get them all in non sellable packs anyway so you'll still end up with every POTM. I did this and made about 8k stubs in addition to finishing the program faster.
