Diving is wayyy overpowered

They need to tone it down a bit. Its pretty ridiculous

I actually kinda like it. It seems to be to frequent compared to past games if you watch most big league games theres guys making diving stops every other inning. I think it's one of the few things they made more realistic this year

One issue is the animation itself. Its like the ball slows down and the defenders slides several feet after he has fully hit the ground. It is like the programing is changing the game so the defender and the ball can meet up at the same time and make the play.
The second and bigger issue is the fact that everyone can do it. I had Judge playing 2b and he made one of these diving grabs. That is not realistic at all. It also devalues the guys with good defensive attributes. If diamond defense and common defense play the same then I will just use the guys with the best hitting attributes at every position and even some out of position guys. -

Fernando for example can struggle with some routine plays but he can make every diving stop and double jump like mario in mid air to catch line drives.

Diving from a standing position and sliding 15 feet to make a stop is more realistic? Most of the diving catches in the OF, the player is already done sliding and on the ground when the ball lands in his glove.
Nah, the diving stops are way too much. Its bad when your opponent can dive immediately when a balls hit and get to it when it looks like it should get through a hole. I'm seeing more and more OFs flop on the ground on ground ball singles because the opposing player is expecting to have control of the infielder and they know these dives have extended reach.

Yeah, it kind of bothers me that every center fielder is Harrison Bader with the head first diving catches. Every 3rd baseman is Nolan Arenado, able to dive to their right to stop the ball and immediately hop up and throw a strike to 1B. Every SS is Ozzie Smith, able to go deep into the hole between SS and 3B and make a jumping throw to 1B

If they did that and only made diamond defenders able to make those plays, we would be more inclined to use a light hitter like Ozzie Smith, Aparicio, Omar Vizquel, etc. Yeah they cant hit a homerun but would save some runs based on their amazing defense. Players would have a decision to make, sacrifice hitting for defense? That would make teams much more diverse.

I meant like a completely separate rating like a range factor rating or something

That would be good, or maybe even an active quirk. That would not be too hard to code.

It's not the diving that's bad it's the 6 foot slide after the dive. It looks like animations from a 10 year old baseball game.
