Which is your favorite Baseball Movie or best you feel was ever made?
-
Bull Durham with the added benefit of Kevin Costner easily being the best switch hitter in Hollywood. Watch his swing in the movie from both sides. You can tell he was a stud at some point in high school or college.
-
sandlot... by a mile for me.

Once of my favorites was The Sluggers Wife, awesome old school flick with a disappointing ending. Other than that, favorite baseball fictional/non-fictional movies:
The Natural
Major League
The Sandlot
Bull Durham
A League of Their Own (shut up, it was a good movie)
The Babe -
Top 5 in no order-
- Field of Dreams- there's no crying in baseball unless you get a chance to play catch with your dead father. Then there can be crying. Just an amazing film with a lot of heart.
- Bull Durham- Tim Robbins and Kevin Costner are gold together.
- Major League- my favorite baseball comedy.
- A league of their own- Wartime baseball with Tom Hanks as a drunken Jimmy Doogan.
- The Sandlot- Any big who loves baseball can relate..

The 1996 classic movie Ed
“Farm boy Jack Cooper is drafted into the minor league Santa Rosa Rockets as a pitcher because of his rocket arm. He being drafted is despite he not having organized baseball experience at any level. He is nicknamed "Deuce" by his fellow players as the two finger signal is the catcher's sign to throw a curve ball, Coop's favorite and most killer pitch. But in the early going, Coop demonstrates that he chokes under pressure as throwing his famous curve ball usually results in an out-of-the-park home run. Kirby, the son of the team owner, purchases a chimpanzee as the team mascot, who the team members name Ed Sullivan. The coach, Chubb, "decides" that Ed will room with Coop, a move not without ulterior motives. Ed ends up being an overgrown kid in mentality, which makes him a pain for Coop to manage, leading to one misadventure after another for the pair. Ed not only is a fan of baseball, but has a rocket arm of his own. As such, Chubb also decides to use Ed as a player at third base, a move which galvanizes the team on their march toward the pennant. But when something happens to Ed, Coop has to try to save him, his friend and roommate, which may jeopardize his major league prospects. Through it all, Coop begins a romance with his next door neighbor, single mom Lydia, whose precocious adolescent daughter Lizzie, who along with Ed, seems know what's better for Lydia and Coop than they do”
If that isn’t the best baseball story ever told... then I don’t know what is. I’m pretty sure it’s a true story of based on something true
Honorable mention 2002 movie, Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch.

The Natural
The Rookie
Eight Men Out
MoneyballAnd I have a soft spot for Little Big League because I was an extra in it.

How have none of you mentioned The Benchwarmers yet?
I also enjoy Summer Catch, shout out Jessica Biel for making a boy dream. -
The Sandlot is one of my favourites. Ones that have not been mentioned that I enjoyed:
Bang the Drum Slowly
61*
The BabeOne I haven’t seen that I own because I found it for $1 at a hock shop is Cobb. I’ve had a thing for the baseball movies that cover older generations of the game I obviously wasn’t around for.

Bingo Long’s Traveling All Stars
A made for TV movie with Billy Dee a Williams, Richard Pryor, James Earl Jones, and Mabel King with fictitious representations of Satchel Page and George Foster on a barnstorming Negro League team.
Honorable mention to Ken Burns’ Baseball.
-
Obviously Major League.
But Bad News Bears with Billy Bob is actually pretty good.

It's very surprising to me that "For Love Of The game" is not getting any "Love" from you guys. I put it as my #1 for a fictitious baseball movie because IMO it was best 1 ever made. Very original with how they tied each inning he was playing within that game to key moments within his personal life facing love issues, dealing with inner demons & fears of a possible career ending injury. Pitching in a game which no one ever though he would be able to pitch after coming back from that injury. Having doubts & confusion about what to do after the game, if he will retire a Tiger or be traded away to an other team if he wants to continue pitching. Him paying homage to his team mates during the game & as well to his opponent team (Yankees). Then realizing in the 7th inning he was actually pitching a perfect game up until that point & the reality of it finally sinking in & having self doubt, worries & fear he may not be able to finish it. And then his battery mate & best friend Gus says. "Just throw what you can. The guys are are here for you Chappie, we will not let you down because right now at this moment we are the best team in baseball all due to you Chappie". In the 8th inning without knowing if he will have the Perfect game or not, he does finally decide what to do & chooses to retire by writing on the ball. "for love of the game, tell them i'm done". And in the top of the 9th he does it, he pitches a perfect game in the final game of his 20+ year career & to top it off, he realizes that his greatest life accomplishments in baseball mean nothing to him if he does not have the women he loves to share them with. So he goes find here & wins her back. ...... A "Perfect" Baseball Movie

Major League and Bull Durham
Tim Robbins and Robert Whule are comedy gold. Robbins is an actor that should have had a career like Tom Hanks. Comedies, great flicks like Shawshank and haunting roles like Jacob’s Ladder.
