Anyone else puzzled why they changed up content so much?
-
They got rid of innings program, no problem. Then this new monthly program has everyone confused. Then the Jackie Program consists of one moment. I'm all for easy moments but it's almost like a slap in the face to Jackie and they just threw it together in a few moments. Remember when the Jackie program consisted of multiple Jackie cards with missions? I get they wanted to change things up so they don't get stale but last year was amazing for content. I feel like they are trying to fix the one part of the game that was not broken.

I don't get that at all. It seemed like they wanted everyone to have the card. They could have given us a free pack with everything but instead just had one easy moment.
As for changing things. If they don't change things then they get complaints that it is just copy and pasted from the previous year. When they do change things up they get complaints that it is not like it was last year. They'll never please everyone

The Show 20 was my first year playing and I definitely remember that Jackie program being a grind for sure. You had to do moments/missions with maybe three or four different cards of his progressing from a low gold all the way to 99 diamond. Imagine one huge evolution program. Knocking it out in a day wasn't an option either as they added to the program over a few weeks (months even?) I believe).
Some of those moments were a real pain. There was one that required you to hit TWO home runs in a single game at Forbes Field.
It was a very exhaustive program, but definitely felt rewarding when you finished and at the end of the day was a great showcase to pay tribute to Jackie.

I'm a very "linear" thinker. This year just feels all over the place. Last year, we had well defined paths. For example, daily missions, TA paths, inning programs, monthly awards paths. They were all "fully-baked". This year, it seems like everything is open-ended. I just can't get as excited to log in each day. That, coupled with the disaster of mini seasons (for me anyway), and I'm just kind of lost.
I understand the importance of changing things up. Maybe it will all come together as we go along. But right now, I'm just feeling... "Meh".
I will say that I really like the "Supercharge" concept. I try to stay positive...

I wouldnt say that the Jackie moment was a "slap in the face". It was kinda symbolic i think. No matter what he did in his career, the biggest and most important moment he had was his first hit in bigs.
Its not like they gave us a 99 for doing nothing. Its an 88 that wont be in anyones lineup by June. No sense in locking it behind missions and moments

Then this new monthly program has everyone confused.
It’s not confusing to anyone who thinks about it for more than 3 seconds.
I shudder to think how this crowd would have handled the Immortal rollout of 2018…

The change things cause we were do for a change.
Inning programs were the exact same for 3 years,
TA in 21 actually did more harm to the game then good. To many good cards were given put with little to no effort needed. It also devalued any card that was part of the featured program, WS or BR. There were so many time it was posted "these rewards are an L, they don't match up to anything that can be earned via TA".
The Jackie program from 20 was awesome but it was done due to the pandemic and no other content was available so they adjusted. There will be more and better Jackie content all year.
This change is good and healthy for the game and will actually bring a more balance to the game and reward the players both NMS and money spent who play the game long term.

The monthly stuff just looks different. Its still more or less the same thing as the last 2 years being 4 weeks of topps now and the monthly stuff at the beginning of the next month. The Jackie thing is fine, the only difference between that and just giving us a free card in the shop is that you did a moment. I've said my thoughts on the Inning program/TA stuff. It's a good change if they make up for packs and stub rewards. Giving 30 end game cards for practically nothing 3 times over wasn't good for the game in last years TA

People cried and complained about the moments and difficulty of the Jackie program last year and now you need 1 hit to get an average card that bring jackie Robinson back into the game. It's absolutely no wonder that SDS even bothers to come onto these boards and respond with the constant whining on this forum.
As far as the monthly program being confusing, I think that is because people have such a limited ability to think anymore without jumping to an online spot to complain. If you think about the program, you'd know what happened and is happening for the program.
-
I'm not disliking it nearly as much as others are. Topps now hasn't changed at all, it just looks different, and now we get legend lightning cards, the possibilities are endless there.
The "inning program" is now much more varied. The next one will give us five bosses and we get two. Then a quick two week program for one card. It's going to keep the game fresh. Instead of the only mystery being who the 3 bosses will be, we get a completely different program every few weeks or month.
The Jackie program was absolutely beautiful. The moment he had his first AB/hit, he changed the entire face of baseball, and to an even larger extent, pushed the country closer to racial equality. Being able to recreate that moment was very powerful, props to SDS.
As a side note, if any of you are ever in Kansas City, the Negro League Baseball Museum is an absolute must. It puts that moment, all the struggles before that moment, and the continued struggles after baseball integrated into perspective. The memorabilia alone is worth the trip!

I don’t mind the Jackie moment. Tired of the Jackie program every year. Well, collections I guess

They would have stopped playing like 90% did that year. Nobody wants to look and wait at content. People want to play and earn it. And not piece by piece like a MLB the show advent calendar that comes out every 5th day. Just drop content, SDS needs to stop trying to hinder people from finishing programs when boosters are there within 12 hours. It hurts nobody to release the conquest maps at the same time, same with the moments, same with the missions, same with the showdowns.
They drop one program then spend 4 weeks releasing the ways for you to finish it. That’s not new content, it’s just staggering content from release day.
Then they finally release something else…. and oh look it’s just another form of waiting for content lol.
The DMV should hire these content kings, nobody has ever made waiting seem so cool.

I think they are just trying to listen to the community a bit but have a habit of over adjusting when they do. Last year there were tons of complaints about too many 99s early and everything so I think they are trying to slow the roll out of those.
I'm also hoping the Jackie Program was so short because they are planning on extending it and you need this first card to continue.
Content is definitely lacking a bit but until I see a few featured program layouts I'm not ready to get too discouraged -
I miss the structure ‘20 with the XP path alongside the Inning/Featured program.
I also miss the free stubs/packs from TA.
I do not miss TA which kept people from playing RS because they were grinding Showdown. That was abused and correctly done away with. As someone earlier posted, the plethora of quality TA cards devalued the inning reward cards.
-
Idk man the game is just boring right now. Program done, br done, event half way, RS is pointless because I don't have enough time for 400 innings and I'm not going to make 900, offline content is non existent, packs are the only thing worth grinding for and the odds have been bad this year for me. I'm just gonna play a different game. A good game.
-
The only real thing I have a problem with is the balance of XP. they put a 600k cap then release all this stuff yesterday, moments, programs, more collections all for XP and I cannot do anything with any of it. Why? Because I did most of everything else that was already put out and grinded one iteration of my ballplayer and didn't even get all the way through the diamond layout yet. That shouldn't be enough to max me out that quick. But I think they will adjust it. Hopefully

I mean, spread it out a little and it might get less boring less quickly. You just described a full time job worth of content grinding

If the program is done with 2 weeks to go, he definitely has « time » to play 400 innings.
