IMO, the pitch you’re describing is what a slider is intended for. A well thrown, slower 12-6 can really eff with a batters timing and straight up make major league batters look silly. Nothing against the power curve, but if you’re going with a curve and a slider, give me the slower curve to mix up speed differentials.

Exact opposite lol. Slow and loopy you can see it out of the hand and slow your body down to hit it the other way, hard curveball and you’re swinging like a fool

I agree. But then again, I’m sure throwing all those curves destroyed his elbow. Pretty sure he had TJ surgery the next year.

Maybe in a video game brotha. If you’re sitting fastball and get a 12-6 at 75 mph that breaks from your eyeballs to your shins, it’s all over as soon as you put that front leg down. I’m not saying the slow 12-6 is “better” than a power curve, but it is when everybody and there dog also throws a slider. Not as advantageous to throw two breaking balls at similar speeds.

Its extremely difficult. Once you gear up for fastball and put that front foot down geared up for 95 and get 75, you’re walking back to the dugout.

Check out all the strikeout guys, I can't think of hardly any that had a 70-75 curve. Roy halladay had a filthy curve that started in the middle of the zone and dropped late. He was pretty good.

Once again, Im not saying the slower 12-6 is better than a power curve. But if you already have a slider in your arsenal, it’s more advantageous to differ your pitch speeds. Plenty of greats have had a slow loopy curve, but it’s def not for everyone. Kershaw has certainly had a decent career throwing one.

I mean he placed top 10 in ks 3x times and was at or above league average k/9 but sure

Never said he sucked. I said he didn't have the best curve. Maddux didn't have the best fastball or changeup, but he did alright for himself.
