It’s all subjective and who you pitch well with.

    My current 5 are

    DeGrom
    Verlander
    Webb
    Pearson
    Burnes

thanks for the input. I started putting together a spreadsheet comparing stats. It is interesting to see the guys who have very high Ks per 9 also do not have the best control. I also expected to see more outliers but surprisingly there are only 8 99ovr starting pitchers that I have seen with it.

There has to be more than eight 99 overall SP with outlier, they give it to too many. Did you count Finest?

Sorry I counted 17 with some being lower elites (Crochet and Kopech) and a gold (Syndergaard). I didnt see those guys as viable at this point in the year. Some of these other guys outlier 1 is also on their sinker not the 4 seamer (Montas, Alcantra, Cabrera). May and DeGrom have two different cards.

Are you counting just 4SFB outliers? I thought you were referring to all pitchers with the outlier quirk, my apologies. Also, I think there may be pitchers that have outlier 2 with a four or two-seam FB. Either way, I think too many players have the quirk. The sinker outlier is a little harder to hit for me. I feel last year, which was the introduction to the outlier perk, had less pitchers with outlier. How many active starting pitchers do you actually see throwing 100+ mph with consistency throughout a game? However, I do understand that we are speaking of a video game; and, many players get attributes that are not realistic.
I do find your conclusion that SP with high K/9 often have less control interesting.

    Get Hunter Greene

Is Hunter Greene good on HOF/Legend? I've been rocking with Burnes/ DeGrom/ Verlander/ Sandy/ Kluber for a little while and I have Hunter Greene, just never bothered using him

It still amazes me Robbie Ray gets no love, being the best overall pitcher in the game. I think I’ve faced him once over the last 3 months…no one uses him at all

It's because velocity is King, and outlier is Emperor.

    Sad but true.

SDS needs to rethink pitch speed max relative to pitch speed differential so that guys like Ray stand a chance.

Yeah I only counted 4seamers because you can dot the corners with it. I also hate the sinker outlier but it also seems harder to control and paint the black. I did not see any 2seam outliers but Walter Johnson does have Outlier 1 and 2 on his 4 seam and sinker. Not a bad option if you have the patience for his windup. But you are correct no starter in real life maintains a consistent fastball of 102 into the 9th inning like the video game version of Degrom can. I also take issue with the control. If you have to rear back and throw it 102 you probably don't have the best control and might not even know where it is going. I think Chapman in game is actually an accurate representation. Great stuff but very little control.

I have Ray at P5. But I get lit up when I use a left handed pitcher for some reason. So online I don’t use him much.

His stats look good but his pitch mix is suspect. It doesn't appear he has a really good out pitch. Yeah the slider is nice but the 4seam and change wont have ton of speed differential. Im not sure how effective the Knuckle Curve is this year, so maybe that makes a difference.

I am a mostly All Star online player like the OP. In RS I mostly hover between 500-700.

My top SP for online are:

    1. Nolan

    2. DeGrom

    3. Verlander

    4. Sale

    5. Walter Johnson

    6. Hunter Greene

    7. Nate Pearson.

There's a big drop off after my Top 3 though.

What makes Chris Sale so good? His price is RIDICULOUS right now, and I used him early on and wasnt overly impressed... I know people talk about his release or whatever but his h/9 is like 101, if I remember correctly, which is very "meh"...

I have a rotation of Degrom, Ohtani, Verlander, Burnes and Ryan. Verlander has been getting hit around lately. Degrom is like all or nothing. I think he had a 14k game, allowed 3 hits but they were all homers. I kind of like Burnes, Ohtani has been a surprise for me. Anyone else I should be using? I figured Maddux and Orel would be great if I make it to the 700 level. But I stink so I hover around 500.

    Get Hunter Greene

    So Good

I mean you could also try to pitch without outlier on all star. What a concept! Learn to actually pitch instead of spamming high fastballs until your opponent cranks one and you quit…

I don’t have a single outlier starter in my rotation, but believe me, I face those guys every game. P4 Verlander today, P4 Ryan yesterday…

If you can get guys out in all star without spamming outlier fastballs, you might actually get better, but that’s just me.

My starting 5 right now are
    Arrieta
    Kluber
    Webb
    Buehler
    Burnes

Grove, Verlandet, and Ryan were my favorite pitchers but I've p5 them so I don't use them anymore. Also p5 Ohtani, deGrom, and 93 Burnes. Ohtani is bad on All Star, but on HOF and above he was one my best pitchers while also being able to hit.

I think overall it really depends on what difficulty you mostly play on. I find Arrieta the best pitcher in the game at higher difficulties. Overall my top 5 is....

    Arrieta
    Verlander
    Grove
    Ryan
Ohtani (avoid on All Star at all cost)

I sold Arrieta to get 99 Finest Trout. Sounds dumb, but I made +200k on the sale from what i bought him at and Trout has gone STUUUUPID since I got him.
    3 ranked games, 8hits: 4 home runs, 1 triple, 2 doubles and a single.
    My Pitchers are:
Verlander, De Grom, Charlie Morton (hes a monster), Walker Buehler, Corbin Burnes.
I sometimes take De Grom out for 99 Cole Hamels, who is insanely underrated.

I would think the top 5 would change depending on if you're playing on All-Star, HOF, or Legend difficulty.

I would also think that pitchers with off speed movement in their pitches would be better on the lower difficulties.
