Wow this Finest card art is the best

Johnny Bench, in real life, was probably the best catcher of all time. But in the game, he's demonstrably worse than Jonah Heim. Anyone that uses Johnny Bench, no joke, I feel a degree of sympathy towards. Poor guy doesn't have the time to try out all the different options, so he goes by ratings and thinks he has a good card. He doesn't know. He doesn't know

I haven't looked at his attributes, are you saying that Bench plays worse than Heim in the game or are his attributes actually worse? I swear I'm not being sarcastic, I just started playing this year and I loved Bench's 94. But I know the Topps cards were juiced like crazy and I wouldn't be surprised if you're right.
I want to know haha

Bench (and Yount for that matter) is one of the best of all time. I’m glad they’re in the game.

Bench is notorious in MLB the Show, since at least 15, for having a terrible swing. He's not a real option. He's a "Red" Herring.
Get the pun?
In all seriousness though he has probably the worst swing in the game. I can name 11 bronze catchers that are better hitters.

So don’t use him. I’m sure there are people that will. I will sometimes as I like to change my lineup often (especially when playing conquest games).

I guess I'm in the minority. It doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, but I really don't like it. I think the Finest card art for 18, 19, and 20 are all way better. Maybe it will grow on me.
I agree. I kind of like it, but the nameplate looks like a tombstone...

Love it alot always like the finest card art. Personally 17 is still my favorite buy it's like at 1 a,b,c,d kinda argument.
I really wish SDS would make the finest card into a physical thing that comes in the limited edition of the next game
I could be wrong, but I don't remember Finest being in 17. Pretty sure that started in 18.

I stand corrected. I completely forgot about that card art.

I’m a huge critic of SDS. But I have to give it to them on this artwork! Hands down the best yet!

you got me there, bhall! I was secretly posting here to give you lineup advice, but you shucked it! The world revolves around you. I've often told my buddies 'what would bhall09 think of this?' We all love you bhall. You are the best!

Agreed. Most of the art is pretty tired, but these cards are sick.

17 was the first year of finest it was the last content update for that year and the program was amazing. You had to complete stat missions for every card series in the game. Still one of my fav programs ever

@VK_Ratliff_PSN
I think all he was trying to say is if you don't like the card that's fine but not everyone will do bad with him. There are plenty of cards that people say have terrible swings that I rip the ball with. All depends on the player and what their style is, personally I won't be using Bench but I'm sure there are people who will love the card. -

Now that I see the card art I do remember having Votto, Severino, Altuve, and some others. I think my memory of 17 is dominated by 99 Beltran and Mauer moonshots.

I like the card art. It's a bit too busy looking but still nice.
-
First impression, I thought it looked like a Pokemon card.
-
I do NOT like the card artwork myself to be honest. It Stands out TOO MUCH. If there were a series of Finest cards to have similar art work. Then that will look nice & make sense. But to have it for just only 1 card & for a player that doesn't deserve so much credit.
Do NOT get me wrong. Posey was a very good & solid Catcher & as well consistently thru out his career. However he will NOT go down as being the GOAT among Catchers. It is NOT even a sure thing he will be inducted into the HOF.
I just feel that specialty kind of Finest Card artwork (or on any other class of card) should be for someome more deserving if only 1 card is released that way. Or for a certion group of 10 to 25 players & having Posey within that group.
