I think it's refreshing to see other teams then the Yankees or Braves winning the world series. I started watching baseball in 1995 when I was 9 and for the first 6 years it was Braves, Yankees, (Marlins) Yankees, Yankees, Yankees. So you can suffer a bit longer in my opinion.

I was 21 years old in ‘96. I remember the run very well! So well that I’m still sick of the Yankees. One of my favorite moments was watching a very young Josh Beckett walk into Yankee Stadium and completely shut them down!! Still sick of em!

I remember being happy for Yankee fans in '96 after they had endured the 80s and early 90s. They were a team that had some young home grown players, a couple names, and reclaimation projects at that point. Charlie Hayes, Mariano Duncan, Ruben Sierra, Strawberry mixed in with Boggs, O'Neill, Tino, and youngsters like Jeter, Bernie, and Rivera.

What they became was a completely different animal. Clemens, Giambi, Mussina, Sheffield, Matsui, ARod, Contreras, El Duque, etc. If there was a bidding war, they would win it. The winning on the field was one thing, but then their ability to buy whoever they wanted on top of it was what really pushed most fans to the hatred of the franchise.

I agree! I'm not a Yankees fan, so I'm naturally inclined to hate them. One of the main reasons I hate them is that they pay to win, and they don't care if they go over the spending limit. It's just disgusting to me

You can't be a "pay to win" team if you ain't winning. They are just paying.

Wait... Does this make the Rays NMS???

Honestly, I believe in sharing the wealth.
Enough of the Yankees and their arrogant fans.
I follow a few on Twitter and at times wonder how can one root for a team that has won so many, while others haven't had a sniff?
It is joyous to see a starved franchise win.
That said, I hope Milwaukee or Tampa do it, finally.
27 is enough. Relive their WS victories on video, because nowadays you play 3 to 4 rounds before you make WS, to use a Show term. It's not easy.
So, go Rays. Go Brewers. Fear the 🍺

I live 10 minutes away from the yankees old aa team. They got rid of them because they needed something to blame. The minor league system. I heard the new aa team charges an arm and a leg for anything. I believe it because tickets went up in price. It's only 3 dollars (which I would pay) but after they did that in the off season I bought a rays hat and never looked back. It bothers me that yankees lose so what do they do? Get more Allstars. And still lose. The more I think about it the more I wonder how anyone has pride knowing that all you did was buy the biggest names. Watching tb is like watching major league and rooting for the Indians.

But if the tiger's owner decided they wanted to go all and spent 500 million+ in total money and it led to them winning a world series would you not be super excited?

Let's be honest here every team wishes they could spend like the dodgers or Yankees.

I mean, the Tigers did spend big when Dombrowski was GM. We got to the WS twice but never won. All the big pieces we got, and we had nothing but "almost theres". Money can be useful for a team yes, but it doesn't always produce success. And can even cause problems down the road... Prince Fielder was a big financial impediment after his tenure with us didn't work out

As an A's fan i don't expect my team to start spending a ton to chase big name free agents, but it would be nice if they would spend like they actually care about fielding a competitive team every year. I'd at least like to see them develop a star player and be reasonably confident that he'll be around for a while. I can't even pick a favorite player to root for anymore because I know they'll be gone the second they show enough talent for other teams to notice.

Since I moved away from California a few years back anyway, I honestly hope they relocate to somewhere that will support them so they can stop using the bull [censored] small market excuse to justify running their organization like they're an official AAA team for the yankees or the red sox.

Try being a Montréal Expos fan growing up. Solid teams for years and nothing and then when they get really good, strike. Soon after they moved to Washington. At least your team has a chance to be a world series winner.

I get that, but you have to admit it's a good feeling when your team is all in. The problem with the Yankees now is Hal isn't George, so when they make big mistakes it hurts more.

Ellsbury being the most obvious bad signing ever. DJ was a bad resign because Torres doesn't belong at SS and his price per year wasn't worth it. Now they can't make more moves because tax penalties. Anyways, I agree that mistakes with that money happen but it's always more enjoyable when your team spend vs be frugal. There needs to be a way higher salary floor in baseball.

2009 I was a 6 year old so I didn’t get to stay up and watch the full game. Ironically enough, 2010-2011 was around the years I started watching every Yankee game. I’m now 18 and haven’t gotten to watch my team win a World Series.

Every year it’s the same thing, the same pain and heartbreak. Y’all act like all Yankee fans are spoiled, and it’s just not true. I’m an adult now and haven’t seen my team do anything important in the playoffs live. It’s the same heartbreak every single year.

I have had to watch too many Yankees World Series in my life.

MN has the longest championship drought out of all states that have all big four pro teams. The Yankees own the Twins in the postseason.

I really don’t understand your first statement: “I’m not a Yankees fan, so I’m naturally inclined to hate them.” The Dodgers have spent more money, I am not a fan, but I don’t hate them. I understand that The Yankees have made a lot of bad moves signing players that are way past their prime. How many times have they won since the main player’s in their organization were not home grown talent. I’m a baseball fan, so I don’t hate any teams. Cheating gets me a little down on a team. I cannot take Houston seriously for a bit, but don’t hate them either.
Life’s too short for hate. Enjoy what you have, and let’s be glad we have baseball.

Didn’t Washington win a WS Championship recently against Houston? Or are you no longer a fan since the move?

Many people stop supporting a team when they move. Ask people in Baltimore on how they feel about the Indianapolis Colts. To give you an idea, my father still gives the finger to any Mayflower truck he sees.

I understand that 100 percent. I was just asking because I do know there are some people who remained fans of teams after they moved. I don’t know how I would feel if any of my teams relocated.

Being the old fart that I am, I remember watching the Orioles sweep the Dodgers in 1966. Beat the Reds in 1970 4 games to 1 and in 1983 they beat the Phillies when a high school teammate of mine Scott McGregor pithced for the Orioles and went 18-7 that year.
