    Good questions.

Does anyone have statistics on how many outs are made at 1B ? 50%?

1st is traditionally a position where you can "hide" a bad glove.
I've been watching Rhys Hoskins massacre the position for 2 years with the Phils.
But certain players are so bad-- David Ortiz-- my god, his animations at 1st are cringe worthy. You almost feel bad for virtual Big Papi.
I'm ok with having no range, and the occasional "ole!" on a grounder.
But missing pick off throws, or routine throws, and fumbling EVERY ground ball; I had to give Papi his unconditional release.

Was he really that bad with the glove?

A 1st baseman should never have common fielding, unless he's out of position, or legally blind.

Ever wonder where Ortiz would have ended up without the DH?

I get the frustration with Papi at first, but his unconditional release seems a bit harsh. Unless a person doesn't like his swing, I can't think of many bench bats better versus rhp.

Once you realize how important diamond fielding is at first it’s hard to take it out of your lineup. I have Murray there and I don’t think he’s ever coming out tbh.

I was thinking the same thing and bought Murray to bench Ortiz after a big error cost me a game late. Well, Murray has more "ole" animations at 1b in 1/3 of the games played that Ortiz has for me, so Murray is gone. This is what kills me with this game. I prefer elite defense if the bat is useable, but I've had zero reason to play Murray over Ortiz unfortunately.

What? How is Diamond defense valuable at first exactly? I’ve seen Murray make as many errors in 100 games as Papi has in 500. Papi catches every throw to first and even makes plenty of diving stops. Since you were so critical of trying out Brooks Robinson as a clown move in comp games…..why would you take the best left handed bat out of your lineup for one possible error every 50 games? All of the annoying pitchers that have cutters are left handed, so any great left handed bat helps you out.

He hasn’t made one error for me lol, he makes diving stops by himself on the regular.

If anything first base defense is OP. The amount of diving stops made on rockets down the line by behemoths like Ortiz and vlad jr are insane
