I think you are exaggerating the consequences of slightly missing a pitch.

Have you played last year? Because it was most definitely a thing and it was common knowledge. I played a few games this morning where the same thing happened. I don't need your approval or validation for my experiences, so you can think whatever you want. You can also disagree with me, that's perfectly fine. All I'm doing is predicting how this community will react in a week from now based on my own experiences.

It’s way better. I only threw a handful of “perfects” the entire game. I wasn’t cheesed to death by contact swing, and if you don’t know how to pitch sequence, you’re gonna get touched up. This is the way it should be.

I'm referring to the fact that last year the game was horrible due to pitching being so random. Good releases could go down the middle. And now they fixed that issue, and yes pinpoint was very accurate. But if you can hit, you can hit those pitches on the black too. Has nothing to do with sequencing and everything to do with the ability to hit. And now they go I'm reverse to make it more random, because the average hitters cried hard. Again.

How is pitching more random? They just tightened up the thresholds to get perfect or good input. It didn’t increase the perfect radius from what I can see so far. That’s not adding randomness but rather adding skill imo

Just play man you'll see what I mean. A bit off makes pitches sail and go down the middle, very much like last year and even the year before to a certain extent. Missing a perfect is now punished heavier and having a "good" release doesn't mean anything, it can be a meatball if the game decides to do so. Again, just play a few games and you'll see.

I’ve played a few event games but I think I got a perfect release on every pitch so far. Tbh what you’re describing I kind of like. It’s always been so easy to get perfects that I think it should be punishing when you don’t but I’ll wait to play some more outside of the event before giving forming an opinion I guess. It sounds like a win for ranked games though tbh

Well I mean that's okay, everyone has their own preferences. To me there is nothing more annoying that a forced meatball just because I slightly missed the perfect. That's overkill imo.

For what it’s worth, I just missed perfect input about 5 times this game in the 1st inning. 3 dots on the black and 2 balls safely out of the zone. I don’t think it forces meatballs at that high of a rate. Granted small sample size but it’s not like it’s a 100% guarantee that if you miss it’s a dinger

People were grossly missing their tracing with PPP while still getting perfect pitches.

PPP, if supposed to be the most accurate pitching mechanic, needs to be the most skill requiring pitching mechanic too.

Yeah I never said it guaranteed a meatball. But in a slightly larger sample size I had flashbacks to last year, while my pitching has been really good this year with pinpoint. But hey don't get me wrong, I'd love to be wrong about all this.

Nothing personal lol just an observation. I do believe you bring value to the forum with your knowledge of the game etc.

Good. That's what happens when I miss my meter slightly. PP should be slightly better than others because it is a bit more difficult, but it was so much better than meter it was ridiculous. Now it levels the playing field a bit.

They have avoided doing big gameplay patches this year, which I think is good. Prior years they tinkered with way too many settings, and constantly had to overcompensate to correct something with many new patches. This year they just let the game play. Now they drop a patch like this, I fear them trying to “correct” contact swing can possibly break hitting as some have mentioned nerfed exit velos.

Just makes me nervous when they do this type of patch as historically when they try to “fix” a certain aspect of gameplay, the patch will break a different aspect. Then they have to correct, and it leads to never ending Patching for the rest of the cycle

Give the patch at least a week. R2 was a must, and so was contact swing. Game still is Russian roulette with timing windows.

Agreed. And I will give it time, naturally. Just noticed these things and I don't like it and it worries me a little bit. Especially because of the notorious track record when it comes to patches. But again, I'd love to be wrong.

Sorry for being negative, but these devs have a terrible track record when it comes to patches and "fixes". I've played some games this morning and the pitching is indeed nerfed and more random and also the exit velocities are weird. Again. Like every other year they bring a big gameplay patch. I'll give it a week before everyone is complaining.

I give it an hour before people start complaining.

Let me clarify that I'm not one of them, I'm happy it got fixed. My complaints about exit velo were about normal swings, not contact swings.
