When do you quit video games?

Im 39 and I play video games every day....I do play a lot of co-op with my wife......watching a movie is no different, or reading a book.
I see it this way, life is short, so just do what you enjoy, if you feel your wasting time then do something else, but if your having fun, do what you want man.
My 2cents anyway lol

Degrees, career, and family do not have to be the end of all your hobbies. I’m 37 and grew up playing video games. I still use them to stay in touch with old friends and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Played them throughout college, graduate school, a career change, marriage, and plan to share them with my future children.
Yeah but it’s not about enjoyment all the time. My job in a decade won’t be enjoyment, it will be providing for my family, raising my children, being a good example to them.
Like in the grand scheme of things it just seems like a colossal waste of timeI'm telling you now if you don't do things you enjoy you will lose yourself and end up divorced and see your kids on the weekend

I'm 40. Retired, 5 kids and a wife. I play everyday and she supports it as I'm not shoving cash in another ladies underthings.

Like I want to have a beautiful wife and then like 7 or more kids and I want to work hard for them to become the best father I can be, that’s my whole goal in life and I want to set an example of being a good father, which means avoiding things that won’t help me achieve such

Well that sounds like you will eventually feel worn out and run down an unhappy. It's just human nature. In my experience, the people that don't make time for "me" time are the most unhappy. You can have an amazing wife, and amazing kids, and make a boat load of money and still be unhappy.

7 kids. You’re right. That’s going to soak up all your time, money, and freedom. Nice knowing ya bro.
I respect individual freedoms, but…[censored]. I suggest expanding your horizons, opening your mind in college, and experiencing new things before you let societal/religious expectations choose your path for you. There is A LOT you don’t know yet and that’s okay.
You can change a great deal in your 20s when you actually get away from the environmental factors that you’ve been exposed to for 18 years. Personally speaking, the change was extreme for me.

Video games are a mental break for me. It’s the one of the few things I’ve found that take my mind completely off of life problems/thoughts. I think that’s why a lot of people read too.

I’m 57 but 23 at heart. DD is a pretty decent getaway from real life , bills and responsibilities if only for an hour or 2.

I used to feel that way until I realized no one can be productive 24/7, it's not great in terms of mental health. I don't play a video game to be unproductive, I do it so I can relax and BE productive later.
You said you want children, well what if they want to play a video game with their dad? What if you meet your potential wife and she loves video games and wants to play it with you?

I used to feel that way until I realized no one can be productive 24/7, it's not great in terms of mental health. I don't play a video game to be unproductive, I do it so I can relax and BE productive later.

Been gaming with my wife for 23 years now, has kept us close and happy. Same with playing with our kids, great way to keep them engaged with us when we really want some time with them.

Never stopped playing, then turned it into a career.
If you enjoy gaming, you can still have fun in moderation in addition to focusing on more important things. Everyone needs to blow off some steam once in a while.

Amen brotha. My son is 12 and we do everything together but there are times you NEED to say bug off and do something. Its unhealthy for kids not to have their own alone time as well

Hell yeah! First real co-op with wife(that was not lego related) was the first Borderlands game. And let me tell you she was 10x better than me in that game

Probably smart to put them away during college and until that time, but it’s really about your own life and if you can manage your time.

Full time job, coach my kids baseball team, great social life, work out 5 days a week.
It’s all about give and take. I rarely watch TV outside of sports. So, that time when you sit on the couch on Netflix you spend in the bedroom.
My gaming actually increased during COVID. Basically made a man cave so that my wife and I had our own spaces. She has her stuff she likes to watch, I have games. Balance it out, make sure you don’t spend the entire weekends in front of the TV and you should be good

I played a lot as a kid and young teenager, but once about 16 hit I was in to "other" things. Started hitting gaming hardcore again at about 35 or 36. Couldnt really be bothered with it in my 20's. Single and free.

My experience, never.
Though I’m not playing all day ever like it seems many who play this game do,I love playing games and having unique experiences, to me it’s one of the last few forms of truly immersive entertainment. When I have my headphones on last night playing RE:Village, it’s one of the few times all day I’m not multitasking or half paying attention while doing something on my phone. So for that reason I prefer an hour or two a night playing games over other forms of time wasting entertainment.

I'm 40....I play now more than ever! Work gets boring. Wife ignores you more and more as the years go on. Little kids around the house are loud. etc.
Madden and The Show are how I calm myself down. (obviously only playing offline, cause I need to R-E-L-A-X)
