When do you quit video games?

I played a bunch in college but I'm a video game nerd so there's that

I played a bit in HS and University but stopped for 8 years when I had kids and entered grad school

It comes and goes it seems. I played a bit during and right after college. Then I didn't play for about 5 years. Started back up slowly and still just game for fun and to relax. There's nothing wrong with gaming if done in moderation, like anything else. As long as its never the most important thing in your life, you should be ok..

In my experience (back in '07) when I was in college it was such a blast. I lived in a 10 story dorm and everyone played Halo 2. It was so much fun because the whole dorm was all connected via LAN so we could all play together. We were on the 10th floor and we'd be rockin against a squad from the 2nd floor etc. And there were always games going on literally 24/7. It was fun to talk [censored] right down the hall and stuff. Ahh the good ol days.

You can definitely focus on more important stuff without giving up gaming entirely. I’ve raised my son alone since he was about two years old. When he was younger, I was only able to play a few hours a week, mostly after he went to bed for the night. Now that he’s 17, he really doesn’t require nearly as much attention as he did when he was a toddler. So now I game a few hours a night.

I'm 33 - I work 50+ hours a week, am engaged (getting married in 2 months) and we have 5 kids. I still make time to game some, not nearly as much as I used to but it's a nice get away at night when I have the chance. That being said, I mean it's your life man. If you don't want to then don't. Totally up to you dude.

I'm sure I'll play when I'm 80, and I'll still be listening to house music, too.

I don't see a reason to quit. Some people read books in their free time and I play games. It's not like you get a career, family, kids, etc. and all of a sudden you have to change everything just to "be an adult". 3 of my buddies that I game with (Whether Show or COD) are all parents and they flat out can't wait to game every night.

Nobody is productive 24/7/365. I don't even think it's mentally healthy to not have down time. Everyone needs a break from responsibility and being productive.

Most hobbies are technically unproductive. The point is doing something you enjoy - everyone mentally needs that. If you're just not feeling it anymore then give it up for something else.

Bro no matter what you got going on in life you still need some down time relaxation. I’ve been married for 18 years. 2 kids, one going to college next year. 2 cats 2 lizards. Enough [censored] to keep you busy but when everyone goes to sleep it’s video game time. I hope I never stop playing

You can take up a new hobby, like wood working and that will be productive... do whatever you want my man. It is your life to live.

Some people physically need it. it releases oxytocin, there is no magic age to quit gaming but don't sell your system you may regret it.

Degrees, career, and family do not have to be the end of all your hobbies. I’m 37 and grew up playing video games. I still use them to stay in touch with old friends and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Played them throughout college, graduate school, a career change, marriage, and plan to share them with my future children.

The whole "I'll sleep when I die" mantra is not good for your overall health. As humans, we have a ton of different things on our plates daily. It is in your best interest to get quality sleep to be well rested physically and mentally to sustain a healthy lifestyle.
