When do you quit video games?

Some people physically need it. it releases oxytocin, there is no magic age to quit gaming but don't sell your system you may regret it.

Degrees, career, and family do not have to be the end of all your hobbies. I’m 37 and grew up playing video games. I still use them to stay in touch with old friends and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Played them throughout college, graduate school, a career change, marriage, and plan to share them with my future children.

The whole "I'll sleep when I die" mantra is not good for your overall health. As humans, we have a ton of different things on our plates daily. It is in your best interest to get quality sleep to be well rested physically and mentally to sustain a healthy lifestyle.

You don't have to quit to follow a career. You just have to find balance with it. I'm 40 years old have a great career, several other hobbies, Girlfriend, and a 16 year old son and would say I play more now than I did when I was younger. I use it as my relaxing time in the evening after running around at work all day. Everybody needs time to just relax and some people read, watch TV... some play video games. I only play DD and MUT and only commit to one at a time. I play on average 2 hours per night during the week and a lot on the weekend during the winter months. Just don't expect yourself to have every card in the game... thats for the 8+ hour a day guys... tough to have a career and play 40+ hours a week for sure.

Time to play the show, workout, read, hike, work full-time, spend quality time with the wife, etc. Hell, I probably spend 10 hours a week smoking cigars and drinking beer on my deck (which is usually when I post here).
Most of that happens before 8 am. Being a morning person has advantages.

Im 39 and I play video games every day....I do play a lot of co-op with my wife......watching a movie is no different, or reading a book.
I see it this way, life is short, so just do what you enjoy, if you feel your wasting time then do something else, but if your having fun, do what you want man.
My 2cents anyway lol

Nah I won’t get divorced, my family is going to be the “things I enjoy”. Like I want to have a beautiful wife and then like 7 or more kids and I want to work hard for them to become the best father I can be, that’s my whole goal in life and I want to set an example of being a good father, which means avoiding things that won’t help me achieve such

Well that sounds like you will eventually feel worn out and run down an unhappy. It's just human nature. In my experience, the people that don't make time for "me" time are the most unhappy. You can have an amazing wife, and amazing kids, and make a boat load of money and still be unhappy.

7 kids. You’re right. That’s going to soak up all your time, money, and freedom. Nice knowing ya bro.
I respect individual freedoms, but…[censored]. I suggest expanding your horizons, opening your mind in college, and experiencing new things before you let societal/religious expectations choose your path for you. There is A LOT you don’t know yet and that’s okay.
You can change a great deal in your 20s when you actually get away from the environmental factors that you’ve been exposed to for 18 years. Personally speaking, the change was extreme for me.

Video games are a mental break for me. It’s the one of the few things I’ve found that take my mind completely off of life problems/thoughts. I think that’s why a lot of people read too.

I’m 57 but 23 at heart. DD is a pretty decent getaway from real life , bills and responsibilities if only for an hour or 2.

I don't see a reason to quit. Some people read books in their free time and I play games. It's not like you get a career, family, kids, etc. and all of a sudden you have to change everything just to "be an adult".
I mean, I feel like it’s generally unproductive
I used to feel that way until I realized no one can be productive 24/7, it's not great in terms of mental health. I don't play a video game to be unproductive, I do it so I can relax and BE productive later.
You said you want children, well what if they want to play a video game with their dad? What if you meet your potential wife and she loves video games and wants to play it with you?
