I haven’t used him because my OP’d cap is my SS but I have faced him every game since he dropped & haven’t given up a single hit to him. Dude is just not good.

Whoa… I was just making conversation because I lost a fantasy baseball season championship when Trout came up and didn’t hit like I thought he would. Wander and your post reminded me of it.

I’m all for having prospects in the game but I think they should have a cap to their rating. Something like 85 or so. Make them useful early on, in BR and events. They shouldn’t be 99 and dominant in ranked like Cabrera is.

You would make a very poor GM if you made decisions on young players this quickly. Also as far as the cards go its fun to be able to play with the young guys you hear about all the time in the minors for your team. The cards are if the player reaches their absolute maximum potential which we can agree most won't but the cards need to be usable.

Well, no, I was just countering your statement. Trout, Rizzo, Bregman, Bryant, Rizzo all started slow and are still going strong. You are correct.
Just thought it wouldn't be a uncivilized thing to point out that's not the rule. It is the exception.
And, in fact, unless you're a minor leaguer that has unquestioned credentials, the MLB Gods really aren't patient with you. Go zero for 20 and your name is Joe Blow and you go away Joe.

The cap idea has some merit.
My whole point is, how do they (whoever they is) decide who's going to be the next 95 Diamond single A player. Priester is a 20 year old at single A that is not even in the Top 25 BA prospects. He's 43rd last I heard. I had never heard of him until he obliterated me in RS. Yet he's a 95 Diamond flame thrower in The Show.
Had it ever been explained on here, in podcast, newsletter or anything like that how these decisions are made. Would think us paying customers would have some little bit of interest in it.

Wander isn't just the #1 prospect, he is generally considered a once in a decade type prospect.

I drafted him. Released him in May, then picked up Brujon thinking he would be the one brought up first. Then Brujon went into a tailspin and I dropped him and stashed Jarren Duran. Stashing is always a leap of faith.
I think Franco will have a lot of success. I would have hung onto him if I really believed TB would bring him up this year. They just didn't act like they were gonna do that and I needed some roster space. Prob big mistake on my part.

This got me thinking. Why does this game put out all these cards for "prospects" so grossly over inflated? I mean, I get the marketing angle. But if anyone were to follow along and note up the top-rung these prospects hit it's never even close to the loosely strewn Gold/diamonds you see before they throw the first MLB pitch or swing a bat. Some of them will be life long minor leaguers. Yet they're getting shutouts in RS against some of the greatest major leaguers to ever play the game.
I would guess not one of this year's prospects ever live up to the card they've gotten. Throwing a 110 mph fastball or hitting 40 HR in Minor leagues just means you got potential. But, one old coach always said "you know what potential means..you ain't ever done it".
Totally agree. Imagine a game giving you Babe Ruth and Franco on the same team, so not relaistic.
If you want realistic, go to OOTP.

And many of these other players, maybe you've heard of them but I haven't. Groshens, Priester, Crochet I've never ever heard of. Most of the so called "Future Stars" I haven't heard of. And, I may never hear of them except in this game this year.

Don't know if I'm casual, but unless they appear to be someone that could potentially help me in one of the 3 Fantasy baseball leagues I'm in..they are invisible. No offense, it's just how out of touch I suppose I am.

It's all relative..casual or expert..random or iconic. When you're trying to win money..like in FB..you better be a little more than casual. I've been fairly successful.
So do you know why some players are selected to be Future Stars? What's the criteria.

I personally don't get why people get upset with minor leaguers getting possible cards. This is 100% a fantasy mode and they pump out players as much as they can so that most teams have loads of good players. I don't remember what year it was, probably 18 where there was the same team and everyone had it. That's a lot more boring and annoying than some made up cards. They are different names, different players. I would rather have a bunch of minor leaguers that could potentially be what they show then 10 different levels of the same players.
I enjoy the legends, Topps now card, well actually, I enjoy them all. I don't watch baseball much anymore and other than the odd jays game, I rarely pay attention so this game has actually made me a fan of certain players just because they are in the game.
I'm in the camp of I dont care who they are, let's get loads and loads of variety and see so many different looming teams that can compete

Also, Kyle Drabek, Jeff Stone, Steve Jeltz, Rick Schu, ad infinitum.
There is no such thing as a "Can't Miss" baseball prospect. 80% of the players today are middle round picks from small schools.
90% of the "Prospect" card kids will never be every day players. Most of the rest will be mediocre.
Maybe 2 of them will be Superstars.
That's how baseball goes. -

I play in 6 fantasy leagues, I write and do podcasts for fantasy baseball, especially the dynasty side of it. I would bet he wins more then 10 games, he's following the Chris Sale route, Sale was a reliever to. And here's the thing, so many players don't deserve 90s diamonds that get them, if we go by "deserve" as criteria, then we get how DD was in 2018, widely regarded as the worse content ever.

Great credentials, you should be proud. No doubt, based on that resume, you are less casual than me. And we're probably significantly more non-casual than 90% of your customers. These "future Stars" are being rolled out to a majority of customers that haven't a clue who they are.
Sometime you'll have to share why 2018 was such as disaster in the content area. If you have time.
