Setting Lineups before seeing opposing pitcher?

Nope but it has to be coming. It’s something we’ve asked about for years now. Although I see why they wouldn’t add it because people would probably find some cheesy way to abuse it
They had it in the game two years ago and had to remove it because everyone would back out if it wasn't there prefered handed pitcher
-
It’s not a big deal. Just make sure your sub bench covers the other handed positions and change during the first AB if you really want to.

Nope they used to show you until it got abused and people would just stack all Lefty lineups and back out of games if there opponent had a lefty pitcher. They probably won’t ever put it back in the game.
They should allow you to make your lineup AFTER the game starts. Choose your pitcher pregame and it's locked in as the starter. Then once in game you will see their pitcher and you can make the necessary lineup changes without losing the substitued players eligibility for that game. If your opponent quits well it's a free W.

The [censored] you mean it's not a big deal? It's an extremely big deal... you make your adjustments once you load in and you lose the substituted players eligiblity for the rest of the game......

It was actually just changed to the way it is now in recent years because people would just stack their lineups one way, or backout if it was a SP they didnt want to face. That is a much bigger problem than what we have now.

Learn to hit same handedness...
-
There just needs to be a way to set a vs LHP and vs RHP lineup like they do in franchise.
You can review both lineups in the pre-game screen and there you go. Using the same players for both handedness. You can just adjust the order and subs like you can now.
I don’t really mind if it stays how it is but I do think it would add more value to guys like Grady Sizemore. Not having to possibly burn a sub if you’re facing a lefty.

That’s not the issue, issue is there are cards that are designed to be platoon hitters, but you can’t platoon the way it’s currently setup. Sure, you can swap after game starts, but you burn a bench bat that could be helpful later on.
Like I said early, current scenario isn’t ideal, but better than it was and better than anything else at this point. Once you start revealing pitchers, exploits galore, GUARANTEED!!!

Yeah but what are you gonna do when you set a lineup that crushes the lefty you see you are about to face and I immediately notice that so I start warming up my RH starters. It is best the way it is set up now. That is for sure.

That’s what I was saying about countering exploits. With the addition of being able to use openers, it’s easy to counter one-sided lineups. Then the community will figure out a way to counter that, and then so on until we end up with setting our lineups how we do it now.
I like the current setup, just wish there was a way to use these platoon type players a little more effectively.

We don’t need to see which pitcher, right or left handed, you are facing. What SDS needs to incorporate is the ability to set two lineups, one for each. Problem solved.

You clearly never played baseball before. It has NOTHING to do with being able to hit the same "handedness". It has EVERYTHING to do with being able to play your best lineup for that given situation. Baseball is a game of strategy. That's why people dont like it. They don't have the patience or mental capacity to follow along.

No -- in real baseball they know. So, no, it's not realism. It's the opposite.
Right the starting pitchers is known days before. Though it can change. Not realism at all. That sucks. There is no way to cheat. Its not like you can exit go get all Right handed baters vs a lefty pitcher then come back in that same match. This is so dumb.
-
So this is dumb you used to be able to on MLB 15 I believe. Also take the a pitcher throwing 102 every fast they throw is ridiculous. I don't care who it is Chapman Koepech whomever cannot throw 102 every single fast ball. They do throw 98 99 100 101 102 at the fastest. It should be only perfect releasing at there maximum speed potential.
-
Take the goop (spider tac) out of Diamond Dynasty like in real life has done. Ridiculous. Nobody except releivers can top out at 102 ever single fast ball. Its stupid. Please fix this MlB Show.

Just assume you are facing DeGrom, Ohtani or Cabrera.

This is my first year playing, so there are definitely things I don't get that Veteran players do...but this is the entire thing I don't get. I don't understand how there could me so many exploits and problems if you have to use your 26 man roster. There is no way I could back out and get more LH or RH bats and if one side decides they don't want to face the lineup the other person puts out there, they get a loss. I definitely see problems if you had access to all of your cards...but more than anything the argument that the current system is more realistic is just not valid.

No you can't back out and get more LH bats and come back to the same player, but you can back out until you get a pitcher you want to face(or handedness you want to face). You cannot give an auto loss for backing out either because there are other reasons for backing out at the lineup screen that are legit such as something in your life coming up or forgetting to switch from your conquest lineup(which I have done many times)

If people wanted a more realistic system there are ways it could be done. Having two default lineups is one. To your argument about accidentally having your conquest lineup selected...then there is a confirmation screen that pops up when you start a ranked game that says "please confirm this is your correct roster before entering the game...after this point the game will have started and you will receive a loss if you exit the game once it has started."
