Remember that a huge number of people are flipping so a lot of the time you are just selling to other flippers. Volume>>>>>Margin. You might get a better price but another guy just sold 5 while you waited.
I mean I dont mind waiting. Usually its not any longer than a couple minutes and im flipping multiple cards at a time anyway

This is big too.. Volume, you need volume. I got into a little spiff with a streamer not too long ago who insisted people were breaking the market by doing stupid things... I tried to explain, to no avail, that those mistakes actually created the market. He was pointing out these bigs gaps on cards also and I tried again, unsuccessfully to explain that sometimes those big gaps you see are on cards that don't move, no volume... whats the point in making 20k if in that amount of time you could have made 40 by flipping cards that move...

When it comes to the market, people are going to do what they're going to do. Only thing you can do is try to find a way to work around it. There's plenty of stubs to be had by anyone who plays the market.
I agree and im not trying to regulate how people play the market. I Just dont know why people would do that or maybe I was missing some type of tactic
I didn't intend to take a jab at you. I've worked the market for so long I'm just used to it. I think people just get in a hurry mostly. They want stubs now and don't want to wait. But I'm pretty sure there are those who get their jollies by squatting on certain cards just to hack people off.

Oh yea I know, I just wanted to make it clear that the post wasnt to complain about people on the market but just try to understand it a little better.

Yes! And this is really the key. Move items as quickly as possible. Have as many items working as you can handle. Speed is what brings in the stubs.

There’s an influx of cards right now because of the bundle SDS just gave out. You’ll just have to wait until it levels out again.
No i get that, I just dont understand why anyone would see a listing for 50k and then decide to list theirs for 43k. doesnt make sense
I’ll do this if I want the stubs now, but I also know that I can get a few more stubs than if I chose just sell now. So, instead of waiting 40 minutes for 3000 extra stubs, I can get 1000 extra stubs in two minutes.
you know most of the time you only have to wait like 5 minutes. All youre doing is driving the price down bc the next five people all underbid each other and it keeps going. I just witnessed chapmans buy now at 50k and someone put in an order at 43k while his sell now was 42k. Like what?
I get it, but, like I said, I maybe want the stubs now and if I list at 43k, that’s 1000 more stubs than I would get at sell now. In general, I don’t do that, but sometimes I do, especially if I’m annoyed by getting outdone by 1 stub every time I post an order.
-
There’s a lot of approaches to buying and selling on an open market. Personally, I don’t like being in a hurry, so if I get in on a card that has a lot of movement, I’ll usually just move on, rather than try to outbid to make my transaction go through quicker.
Buy and hold can still work if you know what to buy.

Don’t tell me when and where I can lose tons of stubs please.
Youre free to do whatever you want my man. I'm more asking why someone would do this but i guess it just boils down to not wanting to wait for the extra stubs
Yes I don’t like having too many stubs at a time. It makes me act different to my friends and family.
Lmaoo gotta be trolling stay frosty .

I see these cards I buy them and put them right back on the market
-
It's a minor annoyance to be sure, and I feel like the Sell now feature is there explicitly for the people who want to get rid of that card ASAP, but it's not something I'm going to freak out over. I'll just list my card at more expensive, and if I see bonus stubs I'll buy the big undercut cards and sell them at the higher price.
-
I also think the sell now feature bug that’s happening right now doesn’t help. People afraid of just getting quicksell value. So when opening their packs, by seeing the sell now price is 30K, they might manually list it at 32K while the actually lowest sell order is closer to 35K

This is happening because of the sell now being broken in packs, it still lets you post on the marketplace for cards in the pack so people are just putting in a sell order just higher than the sell now instead of just backing out to the market

^^^^^This is why its happening

People also make costly mistakes. My absolute favorite is (for example) a card with a 40,000 Buy Now, 34,000 Sell Now price. Doofus puts up a card for sale at 34,001, where they clearly meant to put up a buy order instead. You buy the card, list it immediately at 39,900 and make a couple thousand easy stubs.
-
People also don't want to micromanage their orders. You might be fine undercutting the the lowest order by 5 stubs every 20 minutes. Someone else just wants to sell the card so they'll sacrifice a few stubs to move the card fast.

I do this all the time. love when people mess up like this

You know, if there is a big gap because someone outbids largely to sell through quick, you can always make a normal bid just better than the second best bid.
If you’re not in a huge hurry you will get a better margin AND help everyone else out while getting things back on track.

Typically if someone massively undercuts I'll buy theirs too and just make the same profit I would've anyway. its nbd for me, just confusing as to why people would sell themselves short bc they dont want to wait 3 minutes

It’s funny how a lot of market flippers get mad at impatient people but don’t understand that they’d never sell a card if it weren’t for people being impatient and hitting “buy now” on their cards.
Some people value their time more than a few stubs.

the question at hand wasn't about impatience. it was the massive undercuts that was tanking certain cards that seemed to make no sense. I didnt know if there was a specific reason this was happening other than impulsivity. It seems just a result from the free stubs bc i already am seeing it less and less.
