This week's prep for MLB21 - Ken Burns Baseball
-
I'm not going to play any MLBTS this week. My preparation is... watching the Ken Burns baseball documentary "Baseball". If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it. It's LONG. Like a baseball game. But it's a great history of the game. From the opening episode:
"It is played everywhere, in parks and playgrounds and prison yards, in back alleys and farmers' fields, by small boys and old men, raw amateurs and millionaire professionals. It is a leisurely game that demands blinding speed. The only game in which the defense has the ball. It follows the seasons, beginning each year with the fond expectancy of springtime, and ending with the hard facts of autumn. Americans have played baseball for more than 200 years... It is a haunted game in which every player is measured against the ghosts of all who have gone before..."
Anyway... looking forward to this season. See you on Friday morning at 12:01 a.m... many of you, anyway.

Living in Hoboken with the plaque for the first ever game played within WiFi distance of my house, I really enjoy watching this series over and over.

Calling Ken Burns Baseball "long like a baseball game" is a bit of an understatement lol.
It is fantastic though.

Cool! I was watching episode 1 on Amazon Prime, which is free, but you have to pay for the rest.
FYI - looks like these are available up until 4/16 for free.
-
Sadly it's not on Prime in Europe, I would watch it
-
Phenomenal series! I rewatched the entire thing during shutdown last year.
-
Especially relevant this year since Jackie is the fulcrum on which the series hinges.

Another strange coincidence... not sure if you've read the series...
