Affinity Needs to be Affinity for 21

Last year there were only 2 efficient ways to complete team affinity; you either endlessly beat showdowns (what I did stages 1&2) or you did exchanges (what I did 3&4). Neither of those methods really had anything to do with your “affinity” for a team and actually using players from a team got you virtually no affinity points.
For 21, I really hope they added reasonable repeatable stat missions for each team (to go along with innings) so that you can actually get affinity done through gameplay. I am thinking like 5 points per 30 innings pitched (so roughly 15 for a conquest run using 1 team) and a number of runs scored (say 50 per 5 points)that would also translate to roughly 15 points per conquest run. That way, if you went on a USA conquest map run with a theme team you could get approximately 45 affinity points for your roughly 9-10 hours of gameplay (still way less than showdowns, but at least reasonable). And I think those stat requirements are also doable for the h2h crowd as well. I really hope SDS makes affinity actually make sense this year.
-
Good call. I think if they added that it would be a fun way of using cards I normally wouldn’t. Instead of 200 innings once, some form of repeatable stats that weren’t too low or too much would be great. Something like you said

Showdown was pushed last year b/c it was a new feature and SDS wanted people to use it. I'm expecting this year, the "hot" method for earning TA points will be whatever the heck those I-II-III-IV-V Roman Numeral things are.
But tripling Conquest TA points just ain't gonna happen so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I don’t see why not. 9-10 hours to get roughly 45 points for 1 team isn’t very much. I could easily beat showdown 4+ times in that amount of time and get 80 points.

Same with an MTO run. 8-9 hours got you about 40-50pts.
So, I would say stat missions where you actually have to use a team's players would also work.

I forgot all about those Roman Numerals.
Man, I hope the DD stream is in depth and lasts longer than the avg 15mins these others have lasted
That stream, and how TA will work, will determine if I keep my pre-order.

2020 DD Stream: 80 minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soShwAKuIeQ
2019 DD Stream: 90 minutes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-xmKpz-LbM
2018 DD Stream: 100 minutes https://www.twitch.tv/videos/234502654?filter=archives&sort=timeFeature Premieres have been more streamlined and quicker paced (You can do that if you're recording them beforehand!), so I don't expect it to reach those lengths, but it's not going to be a quick in and out. It never has.
Also, the DD stream is literally the day before Early Access. You're going to wait that long?

I’m still guessing those Roman numerals were for the 5 stages of the Clemente program (like the Jackie program this year).

I don't know. I would think a 99 Clemente would be the Collect NL LS players.
I'm leaning towards 5 Seasons of TA.

No way Clemente is NL. Putting him there does nothing for SDS.

Who else could they put there? Plus with h getting a 42 card; that leaves one less card for his Evolution path. (if they go the Jackie route)

I’m leaning toward an added 5th stage to Affinity as well - just makes too much sense

With all due respect this is asking for less when doing conquest which i am completely against. The math doesn't add up. But i think the reason is b/c you are only counting the strong holds only i presume?
The way it is now, if you have full team you get 1 point per inning per player which comes to 3 conquest games will get you 81 points toward the 250 required to get 5TA points. 15 9 inning games vs CPU will get you 25 TA points approx. Plus with conquest you are getting hidden rewards, xp, and conquest challenges completed.
So 15 9 inning games vs CPU gets you 25 TA points plus XP earned you have unlocked 1/2 way to getting 1rst stage diamond reward. So essentially play every team once in 9 inning CPU game you have 1rst diamond unlocked and everything before it.
The 9 inning vs CPU is equivelant to playing MTO twice. So i think b/c conquest is 3 inning games it is designed to be a "filler" or "in between" method. For like that 5 points here or there type reward.
Unless you played every game in Conquest. Which i didn't do the math, but i would venture to say it might be 1 playthrough of US map would match the other two methods i mentioned. I haven't done the math for that b/c nobody plays every game in conquest except maybe a handful. Even though that is how it is designed in a way.
I like this setup because it offers diversity in the gameplay so people aren't getting burned out on one mode..

Huh? I showed the math for completing the 30 stronghold games with inning AND the new stat ones I suggested would get you approximately 45 points for the roughly 9-10 hours it would take. This would put a “run through” of USA conquest on par with the same amount of time in MTO and still somewhat less than showdowns (if you are decent). Right now, that conquest run through only would get you 15 points for those hours, which makes actually playing the game the absolute worst way to get affinity (which makes no sense).

Yup yer right 45 ish apologies sir i think i confused myself and missed a step in the calculation! (oops) sorry for confusing ya!
So it's on par with the other modes except showdown, which i agree it gets toned down or at least it should.

45 points for 10 hours seems really low and unworth it to me. Maybe I’m the minority tho

That's about right. An MTO run would take you about 8-10 hrs to complete and you get between 40-50 TA points for that.

How does anyone working 40 hours a week complete all 30 team affinity for each stage and still have time to play actual games ?

Probabally don't this is based off last year when majority was locked down. And had alot of time on thier hands.

Showdowns don’t take that long. Those plus lockdown for stage 1&2 and then exchanges for 3&4
