Would people whine if there was a ty Cobb pack that was labeled something and only included white players for the reason of white culture? or is that racist? I’m just anti-racism. Creating packs and ostracizing whole groups or creating groups based on a group identity seems racist to me
This exactly. If it’s considered racist for one group to do something, it’s just as racist for the other group to do it as well.
I’m a black man that had relatively successful parents growing up, lived in a good neighborhood, and went to a good school. Point being, I’ve had a ton of white friends in my life. And I’ve had a lot of opportunities that were handed to me purely because of my race. We aren’t the most oppressed group in america anymore, not by a long shot. One look at all the anti-white rhetoric from the media and companies will tell you that. I’ve heard too many stories from my friends about being turned away from jobs solely because the company needed more diversity hires. It seems SDS is potentially bringing anti-white feelings and politics into the game this year more than ever, which is just sad and pointless, in my opinion.

Celebrating Jackie and recognizing the doors he opened for generations to come (not to mention acknowledging the grace and way he carried himself amidst all the needless suffering he endured) is not “anti-white.” Explain to me why that’s “anti-white.” A set of cards featuring African American or PoC is not divisive. You know what’s divisive? People spinning it as “anti-white.”
That’s insane. Celebrating Jackie’s legacy doesn’t do anything to hurt white people. I’m white, and all us white people got together at the country club yesterday and we are going to find a way to power through this. So don’t worry about us, man. We’ll survive.
All the people crying about how this is racist because it excludes white people should just do this little trick: tell yourself that any cards of players up to 1947 are part of your very own all-white people collection. So if any white people out there have their previous feelings hurt, just collect Honus and Cobb and Babe and Lou and Foxx and Cy and Lefty and Walter Johnson, etc etc etc and just rock your fragile self to sleep by telling yourself you’ve collected all the cards from the whites only collection.

On the flip side I’m a white guy that grew up in a predominantly black area with mostly black friends growing up. And that’s why we stand firm on the same feelings on a topic being totally different races. Kudos man respect.

What’s the relevance to this post? I’m not catching what you are throwing out there? Is the suggestion that America is inherently racist because the building they structured resembles a symbol used by fascists? It’s really just a symmetrical box and can be compared to almost anything.
Let’s instead talk about their ideology which is almost identical to the ideology being pushed down our throats by groups that push slogans - which is “blame a group to make your group dominate”. That’s what the nazis did with the Jews. It’s called intersectionality and it’s a marxist doctrine that puts the proletariat verse the bourgeoisie. The soviets did this with the ukranian farmers back in the 20th century.
America is going through this currently and everyone is buying it because it’s decorated and dressed up in “rights” and “equality” and is really just the same marxist doctrine to separate people based on identity so that we aren’t United as a people. But keep buying the Bs. Or pick up a history book.
Either way. I don’t like racism regardless of who is the person that is spewing it.

It’s really a simple concept.
If SDS made a set of cards based on white players, with its own theme and artwork, and that explicitly excluded all minorities, people would say it’s extremely racist.
The same is true for the 42 set. Excluding white players from it purely because of their skin color is the definition of racism.
Double standards are abundant here.

I think it’s pretty dopey when a company jumps in and posts about racism and social justice. I don’t care what Starbucks or McDonald’s thinks about racism. I just want them to get my coffee or sandwich order right. I can’t imagine there are many people out there that were ok with racism and then noticed a slogan on a Starbucks cup and said wow maybe this racism thing is bad.
In the case of the 42 pack, if it turns out that all cards are players of color that seems appropriate to me. The pack is celebrating Robinson who broke the color barrier in baseball and is celebrated for it. To say anything about a pack to celebrate white players doesn’t make sense. There was never a need for anyone to break a color barrier for white players. I don’t know what the purpose of the pack is yet but if it is truly to celebrate Robinson and what he did for the game it kind of fits that all cards would be people of color.

That’s actually FALSE. The Irish came here as slaves and were poor. There were signs for the Irish (white decent) saying “no Irish allowed” they were considered lesser people. Italians migrated here and were not allowed to participate in certain things due to identity. Identity and racism of all sorts has been going on forever and groups keep it going because it helps their political agenda thrive.
You don’t hear about it because it doesn’t sell just like you don’t hear about the white folk that are killed by police at a higher percentage then black folk. Facts matter. Racism is bad

Must be something wrong with me, all I thought when I saw 42 was "hey cool, honoring Jackie AND we get 42 diamonds to choose from at the start"
Not 1 single time did I even think of race.
I was actually thinking along same lines, but more like " I get two choice packs with digital deluxe and i have to choose 2 out of 42? Who the hell am i gonna pick ugh thx alot SDS ! "
It’s only 2 out of 10. The other 32 are elsewhere in the game.
Ok still hard choice lol
Depends who the other 5 are. Based off of previous years low diamond cards of these players the the Jackie and Mays won't be real good. Gibson and Rivera will be ok but out of the first 5 choices Griffey is the clear best IMO
