I see these sports game makers going away from online franchise to force the users to play the team building modes that generate more revenue. Most of them have already done it. If anything ever gets left out, it’s always that.

No, NHL too. The problem with online franchises is finding committed players. There’s too many variables in difficulty options and customization to please everyone. Having to play X number of games eliminates people who only have time to jump online here and there. And then, lesser players and professionals complainers drop out, and the league falls apart.

Unless you have good solid people playing in an online franchise, it folds pretty quick. A couple of losses and guys drop quickly then its a case of finding randoms who are usually quirky at best. I wonder how many leagues ran for a long time in MLB when it was in the game.

I only did them with friends and it was successful. Only 6 of us, so most games against cpu, but it is a lot of fun. I wish there was quick playoff modes you could setup with friends for DD to get that playoff vibe. Get the broadcast of the playoffs would be cool.

Online franchise was always a bust every single league I’ve ever been a part of people quit. People can’t even take a single loss in online DD you think guys are playing through a season? They never do — ppl are either not active or play a few in the beginning that stop being active or lose and drop out - now you have to fill a team that have losses etc. online franchise was a huge failure imo. Even the “reputable” leagues always major issues. In all the leagues I’ve ever played in I’ve never seen a single one finish personally they dissolved or faze out.

I already know that. I am enjoying custom league with people whom I can trust, without anyone's quit. We can feel like we are on real small MLB. How exciting!!

A good non bias commish is most important.
Yes I agree its super important but just like any team with players, you have to have good solid people or it all falls apart.

This is our 3rd year. First we ran without CL. We usually do two seasons.
HOF settings, not ultra competitive. All adults. Unique cards. 32 man rosters. 3 or 5 games vs each opponent. Waivers etc when new cards drop.
Really the only problem we encounter (which everyone does eventually) is potential personality conflicts. Sometimes jokes go too far or people start taking league play too seriously.
We can't blame the game or mechanics. We're all playing with the same deck here.

OFM was filled with quitters but when you found a league it was easily the most fun mode in this game. Trades, prospects, realistic team overalls, playoffs, off seasons, contracts, Gold gloves silver sluggers MVPs, injuries, rebuilds, trading prospects for a WS push. It was the actual baseball mode, leagues is literally 10% of what OFM was.
And above all else, the gameplay doesn’t become compromised with 124C/P or 120K/9 ratings. Realistic overalls help the game play properly in my opinion. Silver hitters made having an Ace pitcher a reality.
