I appreciate that you think I'm a heavy hitter, but I have a lifetime OPS in the .800s lol, I'm probably one of the weaker hitters that makes WS, I get there because of my pitching, so I'm anything but a heavy hitter lol.
Also, don't sell yourself short, I don't really ever make it to 9 wins that often in BR, so you are already better then me in that aspect. I bet you make WS in 21

As some of you know, because I throw it out there all the time, I've played MLB the Show for many years. However, this is the first year I've played DD. Since it's January, and I'm still stuck inside for a few more months, I got to thinking... "Am I an "average" DD player"?
I'm going to make the assumption that many of you folks out here are "above average". I'm not talking about the heavy hitters such as @raesONE , @eatyum , etc. While I love reading their take on things, I'm not at that level as a player and never will be.
Here's my attempt to see where I stand compared to ALL DD players. Also, I'm talking about the WHOLE game in general, NOT just online.
Ranked Season: I typically end each season somewhere in the mid 600's to mid 700's. I will never make World Series. But, when I look at the number of players in each division, I would say 600-700 gives me a solid C+.
Battle Royal: I will never go 12-0. I dip my toes in here just to play against a sub-90's pitcher, and to meet "gold/silver" Daily Missions. I typically win 6-9 games before losing 2. So, I'm rating myself a B-.
Showdown: I've completed all of them, usually in 1-2 attempts, including "Extreme" (3 attempts). I'm giving myself an A-.
Conquest: I'm saying this is the "gym" of DD, since you can technically play every game on Rookie. I try to play all my games on HOF. I give myself a "Pass".
Events: I win more games than I lose. Oddly enough, I do better on the events with HOF difficulty. I give myself a B.
Moments: I know some of these drive people crazy. I've never had an issue, with the exception of "Lou Gehrig 4xbh". That one took me... many tries. But I didn't have any issue with the other "Extremes". I'm going out on a limb and giving myself an A.
Player Programs/PoTM: I got through these pretty easily, but I'm guessing many of you do too. I'll give myself a B.
So... overall... I give myself a B.
I'm curious to see where you guys see yourselves in the grand scheme of things in MLB20.
You give some people way too much credit. Truthfully there isn’t a player on this game that I can’t beat. It’s a mindset more than anything else. While there are definitely guys on this game that I am clearly inferior to in terms of skill I will still beat them more times than they would likely admit. Just like I’ve beaten by people that are clearly inferior to me in terms of skill. That’s baseball. Some days I’m unbeatable while others I can’t win to save my life and you have to be able to recognize those days and know when to not even play. But I never say that I will never be at someone’s level because you’ve already thrown in the towel at that point. Just food for thought.

If you have a winning record your an above average DD player, if you quit every game after you bat first inning so you can prestige players and force Devs to create an entire new content system your also an “average” player. There’s lot of ways to describe it. Regardless being “above average” isn’t really meaningful in this game anymore so as long as it doesn’t get frustrating you winning.

I get what you're saying. In truth, I am an eternal optimist, which is why I start every new RS with a goal of getting to a higher rank than the previous season. I enter every game with a mindset that I'm going to win. It just doesn't always work out that way...

In my completely biased non factual opinion
Bad - below .450 winning percentage
Below average - .450-.550 win % finishing around 500 in ranked seasons
Average - .550-.650, 5-700 ranked seasons
Above average .650-.750, 8-950 ranked seasons
Good - .750-.800 9-1000 ranked seasons
Great .800+ 1000+
Truly elite - 11-1300 in ranked seasons.Basically it’s a mix of record and where you finish in ranked seasons imo

I have a slightly below average record. I don’t get how average players can ever have a good record bc you rank up and play tougher competition. I too am capped in the mid 700’s and hit .210 this year in 500 rs games

I'd add a level between Average and Above Average. I'd make it the 700-850 RS level and fudge the winning percentages and call that the Above average. Then the old Above Average becomes Good from 850-950 (sometimes good players just don't play enough to make WS every season) and so on.
I think your RS range for Average is accurate. The hard part comes with winning percentages. I think your percentages for Above Average and higher are skewed a little high. Average players win about half the games they play (by definition that is average) If you have 100 players play 1000 games (10 each* 2 players) there will be exactly 1000 games won and 1000 games lost. I'd go 500%-550% average 550%-600% Above average and 650%-700% Good and so on.

You will make WS but you won't if you have the mindset that you won't! You have to go in thinking "This MoFo is going to have to beat me" Also setbacks happen don't let it discourage you just reset take a break get back in there when your ready when the fires burning and it will happen.

I honestly think winning percentage shouldn't be used, it really depends how much you play. I'm average at best, but I really don't play ranked enough. Usually end up in the 600s and I'm 99-44 this year.

I don't know anyone in person or have any friends that play this so my only gauge is what I see on here and when I play. Personally this is my first year and the highest I've gotten is the mid 800's. I'm really going to try to hit WS this season. I completed Ruth challenges, and the Extreme Gehrig challenges. Did the POTM stuff. I learned how to work the market and flip and invest and made enough to buy whatever I wanted. My regret is not putting in bids for guys like Mays early.
I work all wknd and have off or am on call weekdays so I was able to play a lot. My record is like 240-200 but that's only because I lost a pile of games early not knowing what I was doing. Should probably be closer to 280-160 and next year should be much much better as now I have a better idea of what guys swings I like and dont.. Did a lot of experimenting this 1st year.
