I’m currently sitting at 874 in ranked. I have off work tomorrow and have the day free until about 2:30 when I’ve got plans with the wife. So far, I’ve lost two WS play-in games this season, the last one on a disconnect I made a separate post about. I want nothing more than to just finally make frickin World Series this year so I can set the controller down for a bit and play other games without feeling like I have unfinished business.
I need all the good juju you kind people can muster. Please send the perfect/perfect energy my way. Say some prayers. Have a seance. Sacrifice a child. Whatever you can do to help me have two good games and cross that [censored] 900 boundary. The games will commence around 9:30am or whenever I’ve had a sufficient amount of coffee.
I will do everything but have a séance and sacrifice a child.
-
Good luck, man. I'm sending you every bit of juju from my Division Series banner.

JuJu? Don't bring Tik Tok into this.

Two children have been sacrificed for your needs. Don't waste them

Good luck, my friend! Keep us posted how it turns out.

I'M IN BOYS, IM FINALLY IN!!!!!!!
It was about as cheap as humanely possible, but I'll take it.
Game 1- He starts prestige DeGrom, I've got prestige Bauer on the mound. I load the bases in the first, Griffey smashes a center cut fastball and I think I'm about to take a 4-0 lead.... annnnnd then it dies at the warning track. My opponent was in full blown toxic mode with Cobb, Brock, and Mondesi at the top of the order bunting at every opportunity. In the 3rd or 4th inning he gets a cheap, wall scraper HR with Foxx and of course does a full replay. I'm not playing great, not playing terrible either, can't get rewarded and now he's dotting with full-confidence DeGrom. Still, I'm definitely hitting better than he is and I know all I need is one hit to change the whole game, and with DeGrom pulled after 5 I'm still 100% in this game.
Top 6, the game freezes and I get the disconnect W. It's really lame, but after taking a disconnect L in my last WS play-in game, I don't feel that bad.
Next game, I matchup with a Top 50 player who was like 350-150. I just laugh and figure I'll try and not get mercied. I've won a handful of games against players like this, so I tell myself to focus up and maybe I'll somehow manage to squeak out a win. I don't offer a friendly because I just don't out of principle. And then second pitch, he offers a friendly and I swear I broke the sound barrier smashing the accept button.
Third game, still my WS play-in game. I get matched up at home against a guy with a sub-.500 record. I know the only way he's above 700 with a sub-.500 record is probably because he quits as soon as something doesn't go his way. The fact that he had 1.000+ OPS's with every batter seems to confirm this for me. I tell myself to focus up and score early, and he's probably gone.
I set him down 1-2-3 in the top of the first. Bottom first, I lead off with a double with Trout. I think he either misplayed it or was using a different fielder than he expected because he took a weird route to the ball. Regardless, it probably would've landed anyway, I was yelling at my monitor that it should've been a HR because the PCI was smack in the middle and I was on the early side of good.
The ball hops over the wall, and I get the "lost connection with opponent" screen.
907 rating boys. Second time ever and first time this year. I'll be cracking open a beer as soon as I finish typing.
Who do I take with my pack?

Play it with 100%. Nothing to spend stubs on anymore.
I'm trying to decide between Mays, Pujols, and Piazza I think.

Mays
-
Congrats! Take Piazza just bc I've never seen one out in the wild. You can grab Mays next season
-
I went with Mays. It was tough because 3B has been a bit of a revolving door and Pujols has a 3B secondary, but he defense scares me. I've won/lost games on plays at third and I don't trust him there in a big moment. Piazza could be a lot of fun, but I was terrible with him last year and his 92 this year. I just can't get it going with his swing.
-
Mays was the right choice. I'm not a great hitter by any means and haven't even really tried making WS this game cycle, but I bought Mays. He's hitting almost .400 for me, which is insane for me. Mostly been singles, but HR's in 2 of the last 3 games with a walk off HR last night VS Chapman. Mays' speed in the OF and arm are insane too. Have fun with him.
-
Have all 3 and definitely Mays. Like both Pujols and Piazza but would go Piazza next of those options unless you are set at Catcher. I start Sal Perez but use Mike in Events as much as I can.
And CONGRATS of course!
-
Mays was the right choice...congrats....maybe one day I can eek my way across 900 and join you.

Nice work, dude

If you finish over 900 you still start next season at 700 right?
