Don't blame you a bit. Extremely overrated card. If he wasn't a switch hitter I don't think anyone would use him personally. His swing is identical to Stan Musial and no one uses Musial
Musial is my 1b 75% of the time and im very close to prestiging him i love his swing
Stan is the first bat off my bench. He has such a quick swing Would start if not for Babe.

I feel saddened to see players use Mickey as a bunt/steal cheese player. I wonder, did real life Mantle have a lot of stolen bases?
I had to look it up. 153 stolen bases over like 18 years, so he stole 8 ish per year.

In 18 years he had 153 steals on 191 attempts and the most steals he had in a season was 21.

So I guess the card bases the stats on the 21 sb year... pre-knee-injury...

Haha ya which is weird because 21 steals in 144 games isn't anything too amazing. I don't really know how they setup the attributes exactly though for prime cards.

Speak for yourself, he has been one of my best hitters since the first time he broke my lineup......his swing is excellent, the only people who can't hit with him are the ones who can't pick up pitches, have [censored] tv's, or both.

I'm neither of those things. I just think his swing is garbage in comparison to Trout, Griffey, Soto, hell even Cobb. He's still good don't get me wrong. People make him out to be the greatest card in the history of this franchise when he isn't even top 5 in this game

Dear Mick,
It's just never "clicked" for us. You're a great guy, with great attributes. But... I just don't "get" you.
I've tried in RS, I've tried in the recent "East" event... but I can NOT hit with you. I can hit with most of the Finest players. I can hit with other Prime/Signature/Awards players. Granted, I'm not a great hitter in the first place, but you leave me flummoxed.
So, let's break up. If I attempt to put you back in my lineup, please politely decline. I will always admire and respect you, but let's move on.
Respectfully,
arvcpa
P.S. I love the word "flummoxed". It represents the way I feel many days in DD, even though I still love the game.
It always amazes me how different players play for different people. I love Mickey and just prestiged him and I hit Fairly well with him overall. I can’t hit with finest realmuto and I see guys with insane batting averages and power numbers with him. I think it’s the coolest aspect of this game.

Me too! And... I actually hit well with Realmuto
That said, I still had Mickey in my Event lineup, and last game I went 2-3 with a HR and 2B. That almost brings me up to .200

You really believe the reason people don't use Stan is because of his swing???

Couldn’t agree more sir!! It IS amazing!!! My buddy thinks Chipper is Jesus Christ in fleets. I can’t hit it off a tee with Chipper. I absolutely take with Foxx and my buddy benched him. Btw, I can’t hit with Mickey either!!

To be fair, nobody stole in the 50s and by the time the AL had caught up to the steal coming back in the NL in the mid to late 60s Mantle was hobbled and almost done. Back in his prime, he was considered one of the fastest players in the game.

Don’t blame you. I feel the exact same way on the pitching side about Chris Sale. Sometimes certain people don’t gel with certain cards. It just happens. Doesn’t mean you don’t still love them, you just can’t make it work.
-
What leaves me flummoxed, stymied, flabbergasted and gobsmacked is that I hit far, FAR better with Johnny Damon — even against lefties — than I do with Mantle.
-
In my final postscript on this... I just played an Event game. Put Pearson on the mound. Pearson was 2-3 with a HR. Mantle? 0-4. Granted, the guy I was playing wasn't trying too hard. Most pitches were grooved down the middle.
Mick??? Why have you forsaken me?
Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp:
Mantle struck out swinging late at an inside slider.
Mantle flied out to Arozarena (F8).
Mantle grounded out to Shaw (5-3).
Mantle flied out to Arozarena (F8).Pearson struck out chasing a curveball low and in.
Pearson homered to left (362 feet).
Pearson lined to center for a single. -
Meanwhile ever since I bashed him earlier Mickey has been on a tear in the Event hitting bombs, doubles, singles. Go figure. But I still hate him
-
On a side note I'm currently 4 for 50 with Trout.
