No greater feeling than beating a rotten player

Bunt dance, stealing every pitch, quick pitching, about every textbook cheeser act except R2 holding, strangely that never happened. It’s an event game this was the first inning and he pulls a change up outside of the zone early swing for a homer probably scrapping Peskys pole. My thought was “I’m quitting this game as it’s a meaningless event game and won’t put up with this all game”. I go to hit pause to quit but can’t as he then replayed his homerun.
Well now it’s on, I just wanted to win now because I felt quitting to a player like this would give him what he wants. I focused and ignored all the childish behavior and when I tied it he stopped bunt dancing. Striking him out to win was great! I feel these people are such a cancer to this community and it’s the best feeling to beat them.
Share your story as I’d love to read them!

I have tried badly to stay away from Online lately... hopefully new event sends me back

I’ve noticed this a lot the past few days. Even the World Series banner players are pausing every pitch, holding R2, and bunt dancing, replays after every home run, and so on. I do it back hoping it’ll [censored] them off.

Last night I offered a guy a friendly before the game as he had an insane team and record, and people playing that late are always crazy good. He declined it, and he eventually quit once I got up 8-3 in the 8th inning. Felt pretty good.
-
My favourite is picking them off, or when they run into a tag because they are expecting me to throw behind them. I got a double play like that once. Small victories.
-
I was using a team of all veteran series cards so like 72 willie Mays, Ted Williams, etc, and the guy gave me a bunch of free hits without asking. (His team name was HR with first 3 and I quit) so then I tried to return the favor and he missed the fastballs down the middle or hit them right at my fielders for outs, then messages me pissed off at me for it

What is with the pausing every pitch? Does it give the batter some kind of boost? Tip the pitch?

I haven’t figured it out, but am dying to hear a reasonable explanation.

I would also agree that there are a surprising number of low-class plays happening in the current event.
If you are able to hit well and score runs, I don’t understand the need to cheese to get an add-on run.
I’m mostly talking about baserunning style here, and while we’re at it, does anyone really think Mickey Mantle needs to have that much speed and stealing?
Guys, it’s possible to be competitive AND classy. Try to be more like Mike Trout and less like Carl Everett?

I’m not sure what pausing does and I may be in my head, but I’ve given up plenty of home runs or hard hit balls right after a pause, compared to playing through normally. I honestly don’t know.
I picked off a World Series and 12-0 banner yesterday 5 times in two innings. He kept trying to take 3-4 step leads. In the past this leads to you throwing the ball away due to a glitch/bug which allowed the runner to advance. I hate playing Busch league players like that. They don’t deserve to win games but yet things seem to go their way.
When that happens I truly hate this game. Toxic players kill the fun. But out of love, I continue playing. The first few months of the game are by far the best. Before all the 99s start rolling out and you still have to be a bit strategic with your lineup.

Bunt dancing should get a warning from the umpire and a player ejection after a certain point. It's so stupid.
-
I think I would take the issues with hitting and pitching over if there was a way to eliminate this type of toxic play. Unless I’m hitting perfects every AB and losing there is still room for improvement but dealing with toxic players is enough to stop playing for the evening.

This is all anecdotal personal experience so take it with a grain of salt.
Quite a few people love to quick pitch a high sinker or fastball as their first pitch.
Meanwhile you might have some on screen notification pop up telling you that you progressed in a daily mission. These only show up prior to first pitch.
I have found that these notifications can cause a bit of delay on your first swing at that high sinker or fastball.
Pausing before the first pitch seems to alleviate that issue for me.
Also, when it's a close game, sometimes a quick pause or quick menu pause, helps me refocus when I've been swinging at garbage.
By no means do I endorse pausing after every pitch, but I can definitely attest to the benefit of pausing sometimes to refocus.

When people pause for 2 minutes every inning they’re doing it to either [censored] you off, get in your head or slow your momentum. I make sure to replay every homerun against these types of players

When I was new to the game I used to hold down bunt as it helped me line up my swing I had no idea what bunting actually was and never did infact bunt. I wasn't doing it to be a penus it was only after a while when people done it to me I had that moment of oh that is really annoying my bad.
The pausing is however a issue for me but I must admit it is great when you need a [censored].

I got into a pause for a second duel with a guy today just to see how far it would go. I was embarrassed for my opponent. He did it about seven times and every time I answered with a pause, he paused again.
I finally just threw a pitch to get him out, but it was pretty odd.
