To the guy who squeezed in a run with Harmon Killebrew
-
It was a smart play. If you can’t make accurate throws, then I’m testing your fielders. Accuracy is the easiest thing in the game. The run doesn’t score if you know how to play defense.
-
Maybe it was a smart play. I mean the guy won, right?
My point was, and is, I would not bunt with Harmon Killebrew.
The outfielder’s arm didn’t come into it. It was a perfect bunt past the pitcher’s mound. Nobody fielded it before the run scored.
It wasn’t about testing my fielding. It was about scoring a run when you are struggling to hit.
If he wanted to test my arm, he would have tried to get the ball into the outfield to score on a sac fly.
THAT is what I would have done. If it failed, I would be fine with that, knowing I did a baseball thing in a baseball game.
-
Yeah that’s a lame play. Honestly, nobody who’s good at the game bunts. If u have to rely on bunts, sorry, but ur just bad.

Gold Kilabrew contacts is pretty bad. Out differential is huge. For 2 pages you let everyone assume it was 2 outs. Now you tell us one out? How do you become so pissed off to make a post, yet mess up the outs.
Despite your total lack of attention to details. With one out I would of gone power swing and try a sac fly to score the run. I still can see the suicidal squeeze as legitimate. Dunno your age, but in late 80’s to mid 90’s ( can’t comment on before that as I was too young ) there was a lot of sac bunting and sac flys. Almost every player had to know how to bunt. I remember bunt drills almost every practice.
You have to remember, diff age groups play this game and thus see baseball in a different light. Personally l, if a pitcher can’t go 7 innings consistently and a few complete games here and there , I consider them a candy [censored] snowflake. Yet statistics say it’s better to get then out by the 5th.

Yet the guy won, soooo yeah. Not everyone is WS player. Most of us are 400 to 600 and floating around 210 to 250 batting average.
You do what you have to, to win as long as it’s legit. ( unlike the Astros)

Hitting triangle requires absolutely no skill. Would be more beneficial to try to get better at hitting by swinging the bat and playing respectfully. Yes, I say respectfully, because most players see bunting as cheesy in game bc ur literally just pressing triangle, no skill.
I don’t get mad at people who bunt cuz usually they suck and get clapped, but I def get OP’s frustration.

We don’t know how many wins into the BR run the other guy was at. The guy did win, isn’t that the object of the game? He did a baseball act, last time I checked bunting wasn’t illegal. Just because the guy didn’t win the way you prefer to win does not make it less if a win.
FYI I can’t bunt worth [censored],
-
Fun fact: Harmon killebrew and frank thomas are the only 2 players with 500+ home runs to never have a sac bunt in their entire careers.
I’m sure he was really working his bunts in practice -

Apologies on the outs thing. I went back to read the game summary.

If he’s bunting with killabrew, I’m pretty certain he’s not far (at all) into the run. Sure it’s a win, there’s no discrepancy there. It’s just cheesy in the eyes of most players. No good player would do something like that.

So yeah , two can play this “facts” game

Really? There have been several threads where WS players who post on these forums have said if they in a deep run, they will do anything for a win. They will only play at home, bunt and do everything and anything for that 11/12 th win.
Careful when you speak in absolutes. Might bite ya.

Might bite me. Lol yea okay. Honestly there’s quite a few players who make ws that I don’t consider good. You can make ws with a .500 record playing a ton of games. If people have to “bunt and do everything and anything” to make ws, then they’re really nothing special at all imo. Lol
-
I said WS players in a deep run ( implied BR ). There was a long thread about what people do/ will do for the 12th win and some good players said for the 12 th win they would do things they wouldn’t do in RS. Just stating facts. Luckily your opinion is just that , your opinion on who is good. Just like my opinion is just that, my opinion.
Facts don’t have opinions, just saying.

My b, I confused that with ws run bc it’s often 11 or 12 games to reach ws as well. Honestly I’d like to know what players would try to rely on cheesy plays in any game, cuz I’m still not convinced they’re good. And if they are, they’re def in the minority. Most top players ik wouldn’t play like that regardless of the circumstances.

i suck at bunting so i avoid it to avoid giving free outs to my opponent. Some games you cant buy a run so in some instance if i knew how to bunt you bet your sweet [censored] i would

Ah yes, Harmon killebrew, a notable small ball player.
Lol it’s December “let me press triangle and have the game score me a run”Just putting out a different perspective but if you like prestigious cards it might seem like a safer bet to get that Rbi with a bunt than risk hitting a HR that gets dashboarded.
