As a die hard/ life long indians I mean Cleveland fan...I'm just looking forward to moving on and finally not having to hear about this. Sick of it.
I'm a Mets fan, but have TONS of Wahoo gear. Even a wallet! I loved them from about 1995-2002 or so. I played many 162 game seasons as them in Triple Play and MVP Baseball so this will be strange
I cried in 1997 as I had to be to work at 5:30 am the next day.Hang on to that gear dude...much respect, hoping your boy Cohen brings in all the pieces for you guys

The name needed to go, no matter how beloved or how long it has been in use.
Cleveland Crackers sounds nice though

Unfortunately we have a country full of over sensitive p*ssies!! When this country gets over run......and it will happen (either a coup or the old fashioned way), maybe they will stop when we tell them they’re offending us.
I agree almost always. But this name should have never happened. I mean, WTH man. Europeans get to the USA and find out immediately that it isnt India like they thought. But hundreds of years later still call them Indians. Makes no sense. How stupid were someone to call a team Indians and give them Native American logos. Redskins at least had some factuality about it. Indians is just plane wrong. And embarrassing. Hate to know I came from people that still call Native Americans Indians after all these centuries.

The Cleveland Leg Lamps (Christmas Story was filmed here).

Someone on twitter suggested “Tribe”. That’s my vote.

I don’t disagree with you’re premise. All this land was stolen 100%!!! Heck, if the natives could’ve taken a TO and stopped fighting each other, they would’ve kicked the white mans a** back to Europe and none of us would even be here. I just don’t see the fuss in raising this much Cain over the name of GD baseball team.
Well I do disagree with that point lol. Land has changed hand over and over ,over time. Yes the European's took this land, but that is just the way it goes. That is pointless to the name "Indian" though. There were never Indians on this land was my point. So why name a baseball team that and then give them a logo for some other group of people. There were other people on this land before the people we know as natives were here. Land changing went on and will continue to go on forever. Just if you want to honor the ones here before dont call them a Nationality of people on the other side of the World.

The owner ruled out "Tribe". He said, and I am paraphrasing, "if we move away from something like Indians, we won't stop short at Tribe, which is closely related to what we had before."
Sadly Tribe won't be the next name for them.

Changing a name because you've realized that it just isn't a good look anymore and puts out the wrong image or comes across as racist isn't being a [censored] its called learning and growing.
This is also not an example of cancel culture, this is the owner deciding to change the name. I agree with everyone that cancel culture is stupid, it should be accountability not cancel. Its ok to call people out on things they've done wrong in the past but they need to be given the chance to show how they've grown and show they don't have those views anymore. If they are still an ignorant [censored] then yah, get rid of em but if people show growth then it is just wrong to cancel them for something long in the past.

I’m a Dodgers fan, but I’ve always been a fan of the Chief Wahoo logo.

.....just seems weird. The new name should be revealed this week.
I hate the name change. It just doesn’t feel right to have the team be called the same thing for a hundred years or so and then suddenly have it called something else.
My main qualm is that this decision is being made for the Native Americans. Historically, they’ve constantly had decisions made for them by anyone other than themselves (not going to go into a history lecture but hopefully you get what I’m referring to). Honestly, if I were a Native American, I would feel offended if something was changed “for my sake” without my opinion whatsoever, and I would especially be tired of others feeling sorry for me. The Navajo were interviewed about whether or not they found the Washington football team’s name & mascot offensive, and a lot of them actually thought it was a cool celebration and admiration of their culture.
I think it should be like this: Leave it up to Native Americans to decide whether they want these team names changed or not.
Nuff said.

There have also been protests by Native American people almost every year against the Redskins name and a lot of times people spoke out against it. Washington's team owner is just a raging douche. Some may not find it offensive but enough do that it should be changed. I haven't done research as far as the Indians name but im sure its the same.

I would recommend checking out the owner's statement on this because he does refer to some of the items you point out. He says that they have been talking with tons of Native American groups and organization, especially in the Ohio area, about the name and their opinion on it. In the end I think you would agree with the name change based on your comments regarding the situation, due to the Native American organizations preferring a name change be made.
And I am not trying to imply that you do, or do not, agree with the name change. Just wanted to add to your opinion and hopefully others agree with you and will look into the research they have done as well.
