I have said it before and will keep saying it. I want Steve Sax from the Dodger days ( and they can program in the random “throw the ball in the stands from second base” to make him realistic for all I care.

Instead of making the same lists everyone else always makes (UNIT! McGwire! Pedro! Bonds!), I've been making grind teams for every franchise and taking note of massive holes in the lineups. I'd like to nominate the following Legends to fill the gaps:

    Mike Mussina (Orioles SP)
    Boog Powell (Orioles OF)
Bobby Doerr (Red Sox 2B because Pedroia's going away sooner than later)
    Tony Fernandez (Blue Jays 2B)
George Bell (Blue Jays/White Sox OF)
    Sandy Alomar Jr (Indians C)
    Mike Sweeney (Royals 1B)
    Kent Hrbek (Twins 1B)
    Troy Glaus (Angels 1B)
    Eddie Collins (Athletics 2B)
    Kazahiri Sasaki (Mariners CP)
    Julio Franco (Rangers 2B)
    Juan Gonzalez (Rangers RF)
    Lance Berkman (Astros RF)

    NL to come...

Sasaki from the Ms would be pretty awesome, actually.

Frank Robinson doesn’t get mentioned a lot and probably wouldn’t drive sales like say jeter but it would play amazing. Great contact, vision, and power with strong defense in the outfield and first base secondary.

I love the energy of everyone's lists, so many players from different eras. I'm a Yankees fan, so of course my list starts with Derek Jeter but I would also love the following:

Howard Johnson Silver Slugger in 89 and 91, great combo of power and speed
    Andy Van Slyke
    David Wright
    Dan Uggla
    Randy Johnson
    Julio Franco
    Bernie Williams
    Mike Mussina
    Pedro Martinez
Roberto Clemente (as a proud Puerto Rican there is no card I want more)
    Dave Righetti

I second this. Quite possibly the most underrated player of all time.

There are still tons available......Roy Campanella, Josh Gibson, Satchel Paige, Sandy Koufax, Frank Robinson, Hank Aaron, Roger Maris and Fernando Valenzuela. More recent would be Wright, Pedro, Unit, Doc, Strawberry, Brian Wilson, HoJo and John Kruk (with a mullet)

Roger Maris. I wonder how many know that the year he hit 61 in 1961 he was the MVP AND he was the MVP the year before in 1960. Back to Back he was a really good hitter that should get more credit than he got for just the one year he broke the record.

Do mid tier guys on your list get 99 cards? Lincecum had 2 or 3 years of 99 cards in the past.

Surprised nobody mentioned Scott Rolen. That’s a card I’d love to see.
