Miguel Cabrera is Disappointing
-
As a Tigers fan I am outraged. I finally managed to get him through the player program, but he is a complete letdown so far. It's been several at-bats and he is nowhere near getting a hit.
This is bull [censored]. What am I doing wrong, or did they really screw things up with this card?

Honestly, this card would have been good a few months ago. They dropped it too late to have the stats that he does.
In my opinion they actually should have made him better. There was a stretch where he was arguably the best hitter of an entire generation, yet his card is just kind of adequate. Huge let down if you ask me.

I agree completely. Especially when you consider all the things he's accomplished, including his 2012 Triple Crown.
-
He’s arguably a top 5 right handed hitter of all time
-
I’m doing fine with him so far mid 300s average through 30 or so abs
-
Maybe since its a player program card. Seems like those cards tend to be disappointing except VOTTO that was a good one
-
I just can't get any exit velocity out of him. I feel like a square it up but it just does go anywhere. Lazy fly balls,, slow lineouts. Hell, I would settle for a sharply hit ground ball out of him!

Rendon was pretty decent for a 97 overall. He was best as a pinch hitter with runners on base, as he's hit two grand slams for me so far.

It's hard for me to get much power out of him, either. He should've been powerful enough to rival Ruth's card at least, he's an incredible player and deserves that much.
Maybe I should try playing 9-inning CPU games at Coors against the Orioles or something, just to help his batting average.

Morgan has been good too,.

That's an interesting argument. Off the top of my head, I would have Mays, Aaron, Hornsby, Frank Robinson, Foxx, Pujols, Frank Thomas, Manny Ramirez ahead of him. And he would be amongst Alex Rodriguez, Bagwell, Trout, Vald, Greenberg for top 10-15. I'm sure I'm forgetting some hitters but there is definitely an argument for him.

He needs an awards card and not a Sig. They've almost made Sig cards obsolete this year with the introduction of Awards and Prime. The Sig cards always get dragged down by a player's worst years- Cliff Lee, Cole Hamels, Tom Glavine, Todd Helton, Greg Maddux, Jimmy Rollins, Chipper Jones, Miggy, Ted Williams, and Eddie Matthews all deserved better cards than they got. You could make arguments for a few others too.
Really, if they're going to keep Sig, Awards, and Prime cards next year, they should have some sort of transparent structure for why each cards gets what series.

Signature cards are still worth something. I love pitching with SS Cliff Lee.

He's probably Exhibit A though as far as how Sig Series drags down some players attributes. Prime Lee would without question be a 99 OVR with top flight per/9's that would be competitive at the highest levels of ranked seasons.
I'm a lifelong Phils fan and absolutely loved watching Lee pitch during his run with us in the early 10's- I wish his card in DD matched how dominant he was in his prime.
2008-2013 (per Baseball Reference)
85-50
2.89 ERA, 2.85 FIP
1.09 WHIP
197 BB in 1333.2 innings (that's on par with peak Greg Maddux)
1203 Ks
140 ERA+
25 CG
12 SHOHe averaged 222 IP, 200 K's, and just 33 BB per year. The dude was an absolute monster and one of the most reliable pitchers in baseball. A 96 OVR card with a H/9 below 85 is an insult to how good he was.

Agree. I think SDS really disrespected him and Alan Trammell and their abilities as players. I can barely hit eight Trammell just like I can barely hit with Miggy. Just because the Tigers suck now doesn’t mean that the best players in their history should suck too!
As a Tigers fan I’m just flat out insulted. Shame on SDS.
-
Last year and this year Cabrera has been a singles machine but oddly nothing more. It's like someone at SDS hates the tigers and programed him to have zero power.
-
I just went 0-6 with him in a game for Tigers innings. You can't make this up.
-
They have always done Miggy dirty. Pretty sad considering he is the last person to actually achieve the triple crown.
-
I literally hit better with his lower diamond card.

If Babe Ruth is a 99 OVR along with the other inner circle guys, then Alan Trammell as a 98 is a bit far from an insult.
