........wants his “damnnn respect”. He already had my respect for beating GSW basically by himself. What he really wants is for everyone to say he’s the GOAT. This is what I hate about today’s athletes. They always wanna hear they are the best or......the goat. You don’t see Jordan thumpin his chest sayin he’s the Goat. He’s just chillin smokin cigars and sippin cognac. You never saw Bill Russell flashing his 11 rings. Never saw John Wooden sayin he’s the GOAT coach. It is precisely that, which all those gentleman great!!! Still needs to win at least 3 more titles as I see it.

I mean, I wouldn't ascribe it to only newer players, a great example is Bob Gibson, here is a quote of his "I guess I was never much in awe of anybody. I think you have to have that attitude if you're going to go far in this game."
The reason we hear about it more now is social media, I've always been against holding up past players and putting them on a pedestal, there have been plenty of great players who act just like Lebron, there just wasn't 2 million people all talking about it on Twitter.
I can only imagine how people would react on Twitter these days if Lebron said something like that, they'd be like. "BuT WhAt AbOuT JoRdAn"

Dude has big z as his best teammate and people expect him to win. Imagine if he played with a prime scottie or shaq. Once he actually had good teammates he won...imagine that!!

Of all the inner circle GOAT candidates in basketball, LeBron is undoubtedly the one with the most haters. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to hate on LeBron. Think he’s the GOAT or don’t. Just appreciate what he’s accomplished in his career on and off the court. It’s absolutely commendable.
It’s ridiculous to hold someone’s strive to be the greatest of all time against them. Every single athlete strives to be the best and every single one would love to be considered the greatest to EVER do it. Jordan wanted to be the best. Kobe as well. Kareem, Wilt, and Russell too. What professional athlete would aspire to be the 2nd best?
Every athlete wants to win championships upon championships. But it’s a team sport. Measuring an individual’s career by championships in a team sport is futile. Paul O’Neill won more championships than Barry Bonds, Ted Williams, and Ty Cobb combined. Robert Horry won more championships than Jordan. Henri Richard won more Stanley Cups than Gretzky, Lemieux, and Howe combined.
You can think LeBron is the goat, think it’s MJ, or Magic, Wilt, Kareem, Kobe, etc. But what you can’t possibly do is take anything away from what LeBron has accomplished in his career.

I feel like that's all people talk about though. Instead of saying, "Dang, Lebron is def up there in terms of all-time talents", they instead say "He isn't Jordan". Every conversation has to include the thought that he isn't Jordan.
And that's what I think he means by saying he doesn't get respect.

Awful argument...sure Jordan would have done just fine with Big Z and Varejao. They traded for Scottie, brought in Rodman and had role players do their job.
Dont act like MJ wasn't 183-227 without Scottie...0 winning seasons, 0 playoff wins

I don't understand for a second LeBron saying he "wants his respect". Was he talking about not getting the MVP award for the regular season? I know when Giannis was named the MVP he had his comments on that. Hinting, if not directly saying that he should have received more votes. Giannis statistically had a better season and If I remember correctly the Bucks won more games during the season than the Lakers did. Sure, LeBron is holding up the trophy at the end of the year and Giannis was watching it on TV but that's not what the regular season MVP is about. Also, whenever the conversation of the greatest of all time comes up LeBron is always in the middle of that conversation. Some say he is, Some say he isn't but I would argue that being right there in that conversation you have a TON of respect already. If by respect, he means he wants to be considered the best every, by everyone, hands down, well that's just not gonna happen so good luck with that. All the people in that conversation were great players in their own right and at some point it's just splitting hairs. LeBron should just be happy to be one of the select few to always be lumped in with the others for the greatest of all time.
I think a lot of the "LeBron hating" has a lot to do that he's jumped around from team to team so often. Whether it is or isn't, it can come across to some as chasing championships instead of riding out maybe a few difficult years and getting your team back on track. That, and manipulating trades or "teaming up" with other free agents to go to a particular team like he did in Miami. I also think a lot of the LeBron hate has to do with how he acts. Like after they won last night and his "respect speech", or calling his Mom in front of all those cameras after they won. A lot of what he says and how he acts in situations like that seem a little bit rehearsed and not as authentic.
Regardless of whether you like or dislike him though, there is absolutely no arguing that he is one of the greatest ever. I think most NBA fans would say the same and in my opinion, how much more respect can you ask for?

Because Jordan couldn’t handle the pressure he needed a break. You have to give it to lebron he has handled all the pressure since he was a kid.

Yes the league is softer in terms of fouls and such but there is more talent today than there was in the 90s and that’s across all sports athletes are stronger,faster,and really take care of themselves

Bob Gibson never did much trash talking. Now if you wanted to talk with Bob I’m sure he’d oblige you. But nobody ever did cuz they were all terrified of him. Even Mr. October wouldn’t look him in the eye. He let his numbers do the talking.
Bron had my respect years ago when he beat GS by himself......with a little help from Kyrie. That was probly the single most dominant performance I’ve ever seen. But don’t tell me I have to call you the GOAT. That’s for me to decide! And you.....each and every one of us! -

Not upset at all...just the negative narrative that surrounds bron for sticking it out for 7 years on an absolute awful Cleveland team before actually playing with great players is perplexing to me.

But Jordan in his prime is something I will never forget until the day I die. If you never experienced it, it’s hard to explain to younger people.
I honestly hate these debates. You can spin it anyway you want and find reasons for both. LeBron is a completely different player too.
Now if we are asking, who’s the best SF of all time? Then I’m going with LeBron. I like debating by position.

I don't think he wants everyone to say he's the goat. Why he is asking for respect, I don't know. I don't watch much basketball these days. Is it because a lot of people just don't like him? Did you see the last dance? Jordon is not humble one bit. Russell and Wooden were from a different era. I've always like Lebron. He seems humble and the ultimate team player.

I personally think it's because whenever his name is mentioned, most people can't help themselves, they have to include the thought that Michael Jordan is better, they cannot mention Lebron's name without making sure to note that.
