Being good no longer matters

Top 500? [censored], you’re cool
-
Yeah being good doesn't matter at all! Pitching_Rebel has just gotten lucky going 476-45.
There are many issues with this game, and the better player does not win enough. But you've backed yourself into a corner by saying being good no longer matters. That is an easily disprovable statement.
-
I never been top 100 mainly because I don't have the time to play but I've gotten a few W's against some of my friends that crack top 100 and even top 50. I'm not bragging about it, just trying to say that there are tons of really good players out there. The game has its issues but a top player will always prevail in the long run.
-
When did it ever have skill? A long time ago. Sure the better player wins most of time but it definitely doesn’t happen as much as it should. I rage quit earlier bc some dude that looked like an old wash woman at the plate hit a bomb on a forced meat pitch, then I made an errors ( meanwhile he is bunt spamming, slidestepping every time and message spamming me “lol”) then it forced another meat ball for a double, then I make another error ( of diamond level on both) so I rage quit. He has the audacity to tak about how i suck and am trash..... talk about frustrating. He had a 65-125 record, and the game gave him this [censored]

I agree with you sir! I’m even more impressed with top players because they’ve made the adjustments over the years to continue to be a top player. Adjustments I have been unable to make. In ‘17 I was a WS player and went 12-0 once and 12-1 once. Since then I have been unable to make the adjustments that the changing game requires a player to make. I topped 800 once in ‘18, once last year, and have only reached 771 this year. I’ll admit a LOT of it is losing my temper with bunt cheesers. The majority of my losses this year are due to quitting. If the quality of the game I’m in sucks, I often bail. I know I shouldn’t cuz just the other day I was losing 6-0 in the first and came back to win 12-9. Anyway, that turned into a rant, sorry.

The OP has a point in the end.
I'm trash at the game. Don't let my RS record fool you, I got damned lucky, the moon was in the 2nd house and Jupiter aligned with Mars.......but while I may be trash insofar as I can't seem to hit for drek (in 20, 18 or 17), I at least could pitch and it was my saving grace. I could hang with the better players cause I was able to pitch and keep the games close.
Not so this year. Pitches will find themselves going into the middle of the zone at a rate that I would call "obscene" even on a perfect/good release. I threw a pitch yesterday with Maddux in an event game that was aimed low and inside and had perfect release and wouldn't you know it, it ended up dead center of the zone. The ball hasn't landed yet. Now you'd say that it can happen and all, but this is not a one off occurance.
The top players are not as hurt by this cause they are usually the ones that can hit every ball for a HR without even blinking. But for the average player, who rejoice when they make simple contact, well, they can't adjust. So in the end, hitting skill is all that matters in this game, pitching skill is no longer relevant.

Get good and you will realize skill matters a lot

To an extent. Connections play more of a role than skill.
Imagine those games where you are hitting everything, dotting pitches, etc. Now imagine that is your connection every game. Probably be pretty [censored] good wouldn't you? Now imagine most of your games being those games where you are swinging a pool noodle, hanging non-stop pitches, etc. Probably be pretty crappy at the game huh? This is what you guys need to figure out.

I just wish the connection was equally as good when I'm home or visitor. I can face the same pitcher and when I'm home it looks 10 mph slower. Also for some reason why does the pitch seem like its way faster when the pitcher is in the stretch

Narrator: "It is debatable."
The top 500 players in 17/18/19 are still on top or near the top of the leaderboards.
lol exactly
OP's sad

Honest question. I see you bring up connection issues a lot, so I'm wondering something and maybe I've just missed it. Do you think when we have issues where it seems like we're swinging a noodle is because we have poor connection or because the other player has poor connection?
I'm wondering because I RARELY hit HR in this game, but I hit a good amount of balls with "good" timing and on a good enough location with the PCI to support a HR result, but I hit warning track shots for days. I had a game a few days ago where I hit a slider down and middle with Harper good timing (pulled to RF) that barely made the warning track. Fortunately I had a guy at 3b and got the tying run home, but it should've been a walk off HR based on what I see other people do. I have fiber optic internet with 75/75 speeds and am hardwired. I have no clue about my ping rate or anything like that, but we stream everything and I never have issues with buffering or speeds. I haven't played other games since I quit playing Battlefield and COD about 5 years ago and back then I only had 15/15 internet and didn't seem to have issues.
How would I know if it's something on my end and what could I even do?

I bring it up because it is the #1 issue with this game. At some point, I will give up and quit this game just like I did Madden (last one I bought had Ray Lewis on the cover).
I have fiber internet in the center of the U.S. My game plays worse on wired. It basically goes wired < wireless < mobile hot spot. It is possible it could be my internet but other games such as Pubg run on 30 ping with hardly any packet loss ever. I know that sometimes I can turn on 99 easily and most times I can't turn on 90. I know sometimes my 99 speed outfielder runs 99 and others he is hitching along like Eloy Jimemez (truly one of the worst defensive outfielders I have ever seen but he is going to be a superstar at the dish). I want 95 to be 95 every game. I want my 99 outfielder to run 99 regardless of the score.
I would try wireless and see if there is a slight improvement. I have had my isp out multiple times checking everything and it is usually fine. More than likely it is not your internet but something in the game.

The only thing that is going to fix this game is when a competitor comes along and we don’t have to deal with SDS any more.

Well the only 2 companies that have a chance to compete cannot hold SDS jockstrap when it somes to game quality and overall ratings. So careful what you wish for.

yah, it could end up backfiring. They could see how bad the competitors attempts are and realize they can ease up a bit because they have nothing to worry about. If its anything like NBA 2k or Madden then SDS is pretty safe.
