How about a Cy Young Winner in ‘20!
-
Hey SDS, what are the chances of adding R.A. Dickey to the Mets SS? Where’s the love for knuckleballers?!?!?
-
There is a reason we didn't see any knuckleballer legends in 19, knuckleballers have long been despised by a majority of the community,
-
No thanks.
-
This [censored] cheesy

There's nothing wrong with knuckleballers. SDS just needs to devise a way to make them hittable like everyone else. They're too overpowered.

How about if you select knuckleball for a pitch you don't get to place it. You just throw it. Right now they are too easy to place, in real life there is no control really on where it goes.

Sounds good

Seems like SDS has two rules in places with legends
- No Memeballers. They want as few Knucklebutts as possible, which is why Neikro or Tiant didn't appear
- Players must be at least 5 years removed from Baseball. If you noticed the freshest legends over the past couple years were 5 years removed

The lady and I played a local two player game awhile back. I was the Giants and she was one of the pre-canned legend teams. I was surprised to see that she had Tiant available out of the bullpen. Didn't think he was in the game this year. Shut me down for like 4 innings.

This right here is spot on.

I have two responses to the responses (lol):
-
Learn to hit the knuckleball! It’s a pitch that has existed in baseball since baseball existed. It’s like saying any pitcher who throws a “Vulcan” or “forkball” cannot be in the game. You must learn to hit what is pitched as balls/strikes!
-
I understand the “5 year rule”, but I am not certain it’s true. I said a SS RA Dickey. Chris Sale is a SS and he’s still playing for example.
R. A. Dickey was a Cy Young winner. Being a Met fan, I witnessed every start of his amazing 2012 season (20-6 2.73) on a 74-88 team! Including Johan Santana’s no-hitter (Beltran..? ) the first in club history
THE FIRST AND ONLY KNUCKLEBALLER TO WIN A CY YOUNG! That is some achievement and should be recognized!
And yes, bring back Niekro’s, Wakefield, Hough, Wilhelm, Candiotti, etc..!

You obviously don't grasp how players can be put in the game. Yes, Chris Sale got a SS, but they have rights to him because he is an active player. His rights are guaranteed because he is part of the players union, Chris Sale is a terrible example to use because his rights are different from those that don't play anymore.

And you sir do not “grasp” decorum! Who knows how players are selected for the game and whom/when players/MLB give rights for their “likeness” other than Sony/SDS. Do you work for any of them? If so, please enlighten us on the internals of these decisions. If not, explain how it is you are so certain of your answer that I possibly have submitted an unfathomable suggestion for players to be included. Did they contact Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Cy Young, etc from the dead for their inclusion? If RA Dickey is excluded for some reason, I did name several other knuckleballers in my post. I found your reply very sarcastic and unreliable!
Sale was just an example, he, Sale was not the point and is irrelevant to the point I was trying to make.
Obviously you do not “GRASP” nor understand the CONTEXT in submission of a SUGGESTION! -

Obviously you do not “GRASP” nor understand the CONTEXT in submission of a SUGGESTION!We do know how these things work. Of course they didn't contact Lou Gehrig or Cy Young, but they negotiated with their family estates who own the rights to their name.
It's really simple > Active players are covered under the MLB Union, SDS has rights to use them however they see fit.
Retired players most be negotiated with individually, either with the player himself if he is alive, or with the family estate/corporation that owns the name if he is not.Ask any person on the forum, they will tell you the same thing, that is how it works. That is why Chris Sale and R.A. Dickey are not good comparisons.
You say Sale is irrelevant to the point, then why use him as an example? If he adds nothing to your post, why have him there?

Correction. It's 4 years. AJ Burnett last played in 2015, and appeared in MLB 19.
I was about to say. Also Ortiz last played in 16 and will now be in 20.
-
kind of inspired me to do a RTTS as a Knuckleball SP

5 years is just a general rule of thumb based on what we’ve seen in the past. Players can be included earlier if SDS feels the need to include them I guess.
