Well, his card was a Gold card at the end of the 2017 season. He did not get moved up to Diamond until the beginning of the 2018 season. Even then I think it was only an 85.

But we know no Rookie has ever gone diamond in their first year of DD, so is what the LS card ends the year at really relevant?

There are tons of Rookie diamonds in the game for players that either never became diamond or currently aren't. I say who cares, give the people a diamond Rookie Judge and arbitrarily jack up the vision a little bit to make it more usable.

Honestly, I don't think they would have made "doe" off it. Would it be cool to have? Absolutely! But the first response people would have to the card would be ThE vIsIoN is to low for HOF.
To the competitive player, no he would not of been desirable. However, there is far more players who sit anywhere from 699 and under compared to 700+. He also had the most jersey sold I believe in 2018 and 2019 so he is a big name and a lot of individuals would of went after a high diamond version of him.

I agree with this. Pete Alonso did fantastic things this past year and look at his finest card. Keeping in mind he had a 26% K rate and 2017 Judge had a 31% K rate. The man has 83 visions on his card with 92 contact R and 80 contact L. He batted .266 versus R and .240 versus L. Judge in 2017 batted .298 versus R and .230 versus L. They would be very similar cards IMO.

Sure, but I'm thinking in relative terms here. Often the most expensive cards are the most desirable competitive ones. The only exceptions are the things like early event rewards or LS gatekeepers. I'm sure a lot of players would want a high version of him, but he wouldn't be expensive enough that SDS would make a lot of money off it. I was never saying it wouldn't be popular or that it shouldn't exist.

Rookies have ended Diamonds because they get started a lot high than Judge did when they royally screw themselves making him a common that ended diamond. These guys start mid silver for the most part now, nobody is going Common - Diamond like Judge and making everyone millions of coins. People had hundreds of him.

I love Judge but I agree with this. If anything Betts and of course Joe Carter were more deserving

What I’m saying is that the card would absolutely be better in every offensive attribute, but would be worse on defense.

There were numerous players that did not get a Sig card. Eric Davis, Matt Kemp, Jason Giambi, Brett Boone, Alan Trammel, Vida Blue, Kenny Lofton to name a few. Yet they saw fit to give Sig cards to players like Travis Hafner, Matt Carpenter, Rick Ankiel, Kerry Wood, Aubrey Huff??? Doesn’t make much sense.

All of the guys you mentioned that didn’t get an SS card already had 90+ overall cards though. Sure, they definitely could’ve still gotten one, other players with 90+ overall cards still got SS cards. I’m sure SDS just didn’t feel the need to give those guys juiced up cards, for one reason or another.
On the other hand, every guy you mentioned that did get an SS card either didn’t get any other diamond cards, or only had a lower diamond card (Wood).
I’m sure circumstance played a major role as well. I doubt Hafner gets an SS card if the All-Star Game isn’t in cleveland. Rick Ankiel is just a novelty. Aubrey Huff was just to give the Rays another SS card, since they lack legends. Carpenter because one of the head DD guys is a big Cardinals fan apparently lol

Judge hasn't been in the league long enough as of 19 to warrant a flashback. Stop bellyaching about this and wait 10 more days after today like the rest of us to see if you get what you want and then resume normal complaints.
