And if you leave pitches cranked up so fast, we will lose all the new players you acquired this year. I know a ton of them personally that are about to quit.
We had a lot of momentum coming into this year’s game. Even with it’s flaws, last year was a success. SDS is the only company in these team building games that isn’t a bunch of crooks.
I still believe in this year’s game. The next patch has to get back to what was so fun at launch.
The timing window is not wrong, it's just small. A little too small, yes, but it's not wrong at all.

This game has been updated to make the already expert players that much better than the average player like me. I use directional hitting for two reasons, 1. I cannot get the hang of using the PCI with any consistency and 2. I don't see where a PCI has anything to do with a real baseball game. Bring the experts down to using directional hitting and they will be no better than me or any other average player using directional hitting. Let's play baseball like it is intended to be played, not with a carnival type target game. Hopefully this game will be vastly improved for everyone to enjoy & compete on an even keel when PlayStation 5 comes out at the end of the year.

Every "string" of RS games I play is either...
A. I am on the fastball, without difficulty, easily able to reach a 102 mph fastball if I'm looking for it.
B. 88MPH changetip? Early. 93MpH sinker? Very Late.
Option B appeared for me last night, I couldn't hit the ball for s***. My timing was all thrown off, idk why, my opponent had no difficulty. Today? While I lost 1 of 3, I was able to hit the fastball very efficiently, includes a 3 rbi double off Chapmans 4sm. I don't know why I play two different versions of the same game.

I’m enjoying the game. I think If more people tried directional hitting, classic pitching, and throw meter off fielding, they might enjoy the game as well.

I think most people of the people on this board would look at my record and consider me someone who sucks at this game. I'm currently 10-13 in RS and one win away from getting to Pennant Race (which would be a new personal best) and I'm honestly not having trouble with pitch speeds at this point. When I lose it's usually because my plate discipline is terrible and I run into someone who's skilled enough to exploit it, but the timing window honestly feels about right to me.
I don't have any major issues with fielding, although I only start players with at least gold rated fielding and I almost never play anyone outside of their primary position even if it means a superior hitter rides the bench. I haven't had any issues with fielders not locking on like a lot of people apparently have.
Pitching feels about the same as it always has for the most part, with the only real difference that it seems significantly easier to locate since the most recent patch. For my settings I just use the default for everything.
Anyway, I'm not trying to criticize anyone who's struggling. Just figured I'd throw my two cents in

in irl baseball you need good hand eye coordination to succeed, you dont just time you still need to put the barrel of the bat (online version is the pci) on it. i cant stand people that bring up irl game, reason why they added so much scripted [censored] like perfect placed pcis and good/good becoming lazy fly outs or hit right at people.
"iT hApPeNs iN rEaL bAsEbaLl tHo". Take RNG totally out of the game and make everything based on user input and game will become 100x better.

This game is as easy as you want it to be offline. If you’re playing other people online, it’s not going to be consistently easy. That’s just not how playing other real people works lol
lol, no it isn't. offline pitchers rated 63 can dot the corners and never throw down the center "mistakes". I make "perfect" pitches and they hang. GTFO of here. Ive been playing this game since it was made by 989 studios. I know what's what, and this game is not right.
Are you joking? I threw a perfect game with that 84 AJ Burnett against the cpu without even trying. It’s weird if the CPU can get more than 2 hits in a full 9 inning game. Also have to purposely get out just to end the games. And I would consider myself slightly above average at the game.
If you struggle that bad you need a lot of practice. Or you can go play outside of DD and adjust the sliders however you want.
if you're throwing a PG with an 84 rated pitcher, you must be a SLIDERS bandit! or playing the Royals or Marlins! Stop trying to tell others that they stink at a game! I've been playing the Show since its inception and the hitting is pretty bad right now ( I also was a game tester and analyst in my former job! Nice try though!

I posted this is in the MLB the Show Reddit, but I'm trying to get as much feedback because I hope its not just me.
Hitting is hard right now. It feels almost impossible after recent patches.
When I came over from 19 - my first MLB the Show - I sucked at hitting but managed to pitch pretty well. Now in 20, I cant do either - with the exception of the first week of the game where I could manage a few runs before that horrid patch.
Now I know I suck at hitting in 20. On RS I linger between 370 to 470 and have yet to break 500.
Im lucky if I score one run in a game. I played a 13 inning game where me any my opponent only had 2 hits a piece up until the 9th inning and neither of us were using any OP pitchers. (My lineup is almost all diamonds)
Its depressing. I feel like I'm trying to hit a golfball that's remote controlled to deliberately and precisely avoid coming close to my bat.
I got so fed up I changed to directional so I could just forget about the PCI and I got a lucky home run off it. Changed back to zone and I can't get a hit.
Late on low 90s fastballs and above. Early on high 90s fastballs. Late on offspeed. Popping up virtually every pitch regardless. To top it off I'll give up a solo or something on an actual good located pitch and that's all my opponent needs to win.
It's so depressing that I have to wonder... What's the actual point of grinding or even buying great players if I can barely get any hits? What's the fcking point in wasting all that time for no fcking tangible reward?
You might as well not even bother with online play. Feels like a gut punch every single [censored] game.
It's already affecting how I feel about the rest of the game. Flipping stubs is very time consuming with the current margins, but I keep at it so i can save up to slowly finish collections. But if I cant hit at all, no matter the player, why am I wasting my time?
I'm at the point where I dont want to actually play this game at all anymore. Never thought I'd get to this point.
I used to look forward to logging on and grinding out some daily challenges. It was fun. Playing as a crappy all Rangers team on RS even though I'd knew I'd lose almost every game was enjoyable because I knew I'd get Gallo. Same for the Padres to get Tahtis.
Now it feels like a minimum wage job that you cant wait to leave and rush home to play video games. I'm now tempted to play just about anything else.
I'm a casual, but I like grinding to get better players so I can have a chance at some actual fun - like scoring a few runs in a game even if I lose. With these recent patches that's getting harder and harder to do, let alone be a possibility.
Can you imagine how someone just starting off with a bronze team in RS will feel after a few games?
Every game is now basically going to be that feeling of a despairing fail that makes you want to simply stop playing. It really sucks because theres so much great stuff in this game, but that seems to irrelevant when I cant actually do the two things you are supposed to be able to do in a baseball game; hit and pitch.
Try suddenly not being able to hit after years of competing with and beating top ranked players.
This game was everything, now it almost does nothing to scratch the baseball or video game itch.
The fluke HR when u switched to directional says a lot... The only way to stay fresh and clean the RNG slate sometimes is to switch various settings like that and also camera views and stuff.
Also, don’t know worry about newbies struggling to pickup the game. One, because they don’t know any better, and 2 Two, the game will reward them at an equal or greater rate than somebody who has mastered the inputs.
The best way to play this game is with no expectations of how it “should” play... just accept the randomness. Yes, anti-competitive as hell, but so “sim” they get away with it.

Played an event game today. Shipping stadium in the daytime, guy was wearing white uniforms and I could not see the ball. Basically I was just guessing on the pitch and I got lucky and ran into a fastball. I won the game with 1 run on 1 hit. My opponent was able to get five hits. Win or lose that is no fun.

This output switches on the PS4 or monitor?It’s on the PS4. I came home to what I thought was a broken monitor one night and dove pretty deep into the settings on my monitor, tv and PS4. The biggest takeaway was put most if not all settings on Automatic, but then check the output after to make sure it’s at 60Hz.

Hitting is an absolute mess right now. Especially, today. No question about it, OP. I miss things or lightly hit pitches that should be crushed. Crushing pitches I shouldn't be. Pitching is busted too now.

I don’t know man I beat a 850 rated player my first game yesterday plenty of runs & hits then 400 rated player I went 17 inns 2 a piece from the 6th. I think it’s connection personally not sliders but just my opinion.
My only problem apart from connecting is hitting HRs which again though I think is down to connection.

Yes, I was thinking about connection being messed up somehow, but I don't know on what side it is. Mine has still same upload/download speeds as usually. I'm hardwired.

I hate to ask this, but what kind of monitor/TV are you playing on? Yes, I switched to a monitor and it made a huge difference.

I have a BenQ monitor and usually a wired connection depending what room I'm in.
My luck in the events has been terrible. I'll get maybe 2 wins out of every 10 event games I play. It just sucks all around for me.
I played an RS game last night against a Bronze player. Somehow he got all the luck with some fluke homeruns. I didn't, and I even managed three perfect perfects and a few goods.
I've switched between SZ, SZ 3, and Offset Zoom. Doesn't seem to matter much.
I cant even pitch anymore. I'm not sure how people are dotting with Maddux and Orel, but I rarely can.
I'm about to switch back to meter for the first time ever and see if there's any difference.

Hitting in '20 is pretty close to hitting in high level or professional baseball. You have to scout your opponent and pick up their patterns, sit on pitches and zones and look for your pitch. You are not going to be able to clobber everything thrown at you. If you face someone throwing dots at the 4 corners, you're going to have a tough time. Great pitching still beats great hitting. My advice, is watch some YouTube instructional videos from top players who talk about their approach with the PCI. It can help a lot. Go into Custom Practice, choose a tough lefty or righty and then set a 3-0 count (fastballs) or an 0-2 count (off speed/out of the zone) and practice and then practice some more. The best thing you can do first, is stop swinging at balls. Force your opponent to throw strikes, it can help a lot. Take pitches, your opponent will get more aggressive in the strike zone if you're patient.
