I don't have a problem with what Kelly did, but generally I think there needs to be more self-policing in baseball, similar to hockey. 99% of the time (Kelly is the exception) I have a problem with a pitcher throwing 90mph+ at a guy 60 feet away from him while the batter has no recourse. I think that if you throw at a batter, then (and only then) the batter should be able to charge the mound unobstructed. This will significantly cut down on intentional hit batsmen as pitchers will no longer be a protected class.
Obligatory Nolan Ryan/Robin Ventura knuckle sandwich.
Agree 100%

Yup, this is what i knew would happen with that proclamation before the season, no way can intent be determined, so basically because the Astros cheated, the consequence is special treatment, you can hit any player in the league as long as they aren't the Astros. How nice it will be for them to not have to worry about inside pitches. If i was on that team, id be crowding the plate every AB, virtually standing on top of it.

The really odd thing is, if you were watching the game, he was really having a hard time finding the zone. He wasn't even close. As a Dodger fan watching a close game against the hated Astros, it was making my stomach turn.
It did not seem intentional by any stretch. It felt more like a tragic case of the Yips.
If you thought that one "got away", you must be smoking crack..
I do smoke crack but not while watching baseball.
My point is that they ALL "got away" from him that night but you'd known that were you watching his entire outing rather than just commenting after learning about the suspension, then watching the highlights. (Funny enough, this is how self-serving logic works.)

Up 3 with 2 men on. The logic doesn't hold up. Also, if you're that accurate and want to hit a guy, you hit them.

Crack has damaged your brain. Die hard fan so I watched every inning, listen to the experts, doing it on 3-0 even more dangerous than sending a message on the first pitch. Plus get your facts straight, Correa struck out and did not say a word until Kelly said nice swing b..h. Said this while the little coward is hurrying back to the dugout.

That is some bad blood, they should just let the two teams fight it out on the field and settle it.

Yeah but the ring leaders are gone. The Astros left were just young players following the lead of Beltran who came over from another team way up North and said "you guys are way behind the times on sign stealing." Thus he masterminded along with Cora a way to get back on level. You can say get ahead, but I think most people know the truth.

Are you serious? You have obviously never played a high level of baseball. It was absolutely intentional. The count was 3-0 and Kelly just said F it I’m making a point. He is a profession pitcher and regardless of if he was “off” that wild of a pitch on a 3-0 count was intentional.
Kelly was out of line big time. I pitched up until senior year in high school and if I couldn’t find the zone I’d ask to be pulled. He did that [censored] on purpose and could of seriously injured someone. Sure the Astros cheated, we all know that but injuring someone isn’t the answer. His [censored] should get fined and suspended

It does suck but those two at least got suspended and probably will not be back in baseball any time soon. It does suck it happened and the players have to deal with the mistake of those two and for not stopping it. I think it is more about the Commissioner giving players immunity at this point. The Players feel like the Astros player got away with it.

True, but that is absolutely the only way anything could have gotten proved. Is if the players talked. I think that alone was a step in admitting they knew they had done wrong. Truth is there is nothing they could have said or done to make everyone happy. You wont see Beltran showing any remorse I guarantee that.

The story was already out but MLB wanted details of who of who did what, to give players immunity commissioner did not think how this was going to affect those players going forward and he can not protect them on the field. It just a tough situation, I do think if the Commissioner would have voided there championship it would not be as bad as it is now. that is what I think.

I'm still sticking to my original reaction that Mandfred exchanged not suspending the Astros and/or taking away their "piece of metal" for keeping the Astros hush about the rest of the teams sign stealing.
As far as Joe Kelly....throwing 96 mph at someone's head cannot be allowed even if it is against the Astros. The taunting afterwards was hilarious though.

I don’t think it was 96 at his head though. Wasn’t it an offspeed pitch?

Too bad Kelly has bad control and didn't hit him . If your going to get suspended, make sure you hit your target. smh. All those players from the 17 season deserved to get beaned. Not seriously injured but a good beaning is in order.
