Why do my base runners not advance on a hit. Even with 2 outs, they dive back into the base they are already on. It’s very annoying and has cost me runs and games. Seems like it’s only started happening the last week or so. Anyway to fix this?

It always happens with the guy on 2nd. Even with 2 outs and a ball into the outfield they head back to 2nd before you can get them to advance....ive lost games because of it.

If its a legitimate mechanic with base running, i wish it was explained.

one of the worst parts of the game is the base running..... add to me to the "Fix Baserunning" fix list.

I honestly can't understand why more people aren't complaining about this. I feel like I fight the baserunning as much as the bosses when playing showdown. Runners with low speed/stealing just attempt to steal bases without my input. They just stand still like a deer in headlights for 3 seconds on at least one pick off attempt per showdown. They round bases too far and get thrown out. They try to take an extra base on base hits to the outfield and get thrown out at second. And like the original post states they don't advance on no doubt hits to the gap. Costs me at least 4 outs every final showdown I play.

In ranked, this happens much less because you have control.

Showdowns and moments are using RTTS mechanics, so you are stuck with what you have. They won't put resources into that post production.

Do you use the left analog stick method to run? I've found since I started doing this, it's helped tremendously. Basically you move the left stick in the direction of the base, and then you use the other buttons to direct your runners (X, Circle, Triangle, Square). I only use this way to run the bases now instead of L1/R1.

I’ve been saying since day 1 the baserunning is the worst, all around! Players seem to change directions about as fast as my 95 year old Grandpa! Also, stealing against the CPU is wack. I got an extra lead with Biggio, 2-0 count, pitcher used slow delivery, slider inside, and I still got thrown out by 2 steps. I also pressed L2 a second time to try and get a better jump, how the heck was he thrown out!?!

Yikes I'm not sure which is worse. Them advancing too many bases on their own...or them not advancing at all.
I remember this stuff starting in the show '17. The show '21 is just around the corner. Keep those fingers crossed.

The problem I have , and have had for like 4 years now, is a runner on 2nd automatically sliding into third on a base hit instead of rounding.

It happens all the time to me , but I don't hear many other people complain. Is it something I'm doing? Is it because I use analog stride plus zone that causes my flick up on the swing to trigger this?

My biggest issue is how in moments it's L1 to return and R1 to advance but in regular games its the opposite. Makes no sense and has cost me in moments.

Trust me, not advancing at all is worse. I’ve had so many hits taken away because the runner on first will not run and is forced out at second, even with two outs. I have no idea how to or if I can fix it.*

    Glad I found this thread...

I got out on two wall hits in one game because I’m holding L1 so the runner will keep running because I can’t tell if it’s over the green monster or not. When I saw it hit the wall, I use the left stick and triangle for him to stop at 2nd, but he ran through it both times; then turned around to get back to 2nd, and is thrown out due to the baserunning input being extremely delayed.

Maybe it’s my fault since I used L1 and the left stick, but they put them in the game; they shouldn’t hinder each other imo.

I have actually turned in complaints about this more than once wit absolutely no response at all. This has been going on all year, so forget trying to hit and run at all, along with trying to steal. Runners always going back. Makes the game useless to try and win on your own. The game decides the outcome of the game.

I’ve had the old “don’t stop at second get thrown out at third” thing happen. It happened more when I used “advance all” than when I select the base to stop at.

One thing I do find annoying is how base runners sometimes do not advance on a sac bunt. With runner on second or first and second, if I try to bunt them over with the pitcher and no out, often they will just stay at the bag and pitcher gets thrown out.

I think the programming may be telling the runner not to advance on a ground ball in front of them. The thing is, if I want to advance a runner to third, the correct play IS to bunt to third and force the third baseman to field the ball so nobody is covering the bag.

I know I could tell him to advance with L1 but this is kind of a pain with all that I have to do to get the bunt down to third.

They also advance when they SHOULD NOT advance and get tagged out.

Likely because you don't use L1 to run the bases

I do actually. Its too difficult to manually assign every runner with more than 1 on base.
