Mlbpa rejects the 60game offer from mlb

Cool! This means more 99 rated Future Stars! Yay!!
(I'm out...)

The PA has said they'd play 48 games if MLB forced a deal, they wouldn't be happy but they'd show up and play the games, unless they go with the bubble idea like the NBA is doing I can't see them being able to finish.
Last I heard MLB wanted to play in their home stadiums & have teams traveling city to city, that isn't going to work.Maybe the NBA model won't work either but it has a better shot at success.

Yeah. Almost positive I'm older than most here. So I have, but I'm sick of these guys crying about the original deal. That was made before anyone said there would be no fans in attendance. It's all about the money. Just cancel the seaon or use guys that actually want to play.
Why does the fact that fans won't be in attendance matter? When the owners have a great year they dont share their profits with the players so why should the players be punished when they have a down year?
-
I said it earlier, just cancel it, Im over it and all the [censored]. I don't even care and probably wont watch what amounts to a farce of a season anyway.
-
Any league Insisting on games with no fans in attendance looks more than a bit hypocritical after the widespread endorsement of the recent protests. If there ends up being no season, ar this point I dont see how they can say with a straight face that safety had anything to do with it

They don't share the profits? 20 - 40M a year to play a game is not sharing? 5M is the actual average salary for a total of 130M per team. Sounds like over-sharing to me. Most companies don't have profit sharing. I WISH I had their problems.

False equivalency. No one is arguing that they don't make a lot of money. No one is saying 20-40m is chump change.
That still doesn't mean the owners aren't greedy billionaires who try to screw the players at any turn in the name of profit.
If you think that's oversharing, you have no idea how much teams actually make.

Reported player salaries was almost 3 billion, mlb makes almost 11 billion, that's approximately a 70/30 split.
yes the amount of the numbers is ridiculous, and I don't feel any sympathy for them losing money, though I do support the players on full pro rata, cause it's disgraceful to expect anyone to take a pay cut for the same work and same risks.the size of the numbers is unbalanced compared to the rest of the world, same for entertainment industry. but that's not new, it was unbalanced 100 years ago.

If the owners are not able to make the same money per game due to no ticket revenue, then neither should the players. There is no way players should be paid their full salary. However, they do need to see about possibly redistributing money from tv deal.

Then if the owners make an extra few hundred million some year they better start writing bonus cheques to all the players.

What about the teams who have multiple players testing positive for the virus (Phillies)?
Why force any player/umpire/coach/etc to be in an environment that's not safe to play in? There's no vaccine or treatment yet for this virus, it's not just the flu, we don't even know exactly how it's working/mutating etc.
Lastly, MLB, NFL, NBA and any other Professional sports leagues are Entertainment businesses. They are making billions off of the their talent, the talent has a right to earn whatever the market bears.
