'18 was so bad, I didn't buy '19 and honestly don't think I would've ever come back to the franchise if they didn't give me '19 for free.

Amazing that most of you guys still play a baseball game you hate so much in January after the season is over. Go play something else and wait for 20 if its so bad. Only two months to wait. That said, I do not believe you think 19 is as bad as you claim. If you are still playing at this point you apparently just enjoy complaining.

Sure, but that doesn't invalidate his point. I don't think he even called it a "great game", just if you are still playing at this point, you have to have enjoyed it somewhat.
Just because it's the only real baseball videogame on the market, doesn't mean if people truly hate it, they should keep playing. It's like the definition of insanity. Doing the same thing but expecting a different result. If the OP truly believes this is the worst iteration yet, why keep coming back? The "only baseball game" doesn't hold water for a person that has expressed this much hate towards a game.

I believe what he's getting at is that people should be going back to a game they enjoy. For me that's 17, I haven't played it in some time but might if 20 doesn't have oFM

It does and it doesn't, for some people this is their main game, in that for someone like myself I don't like to play a story mode game unless I can sit down and put over an hour into it. so if you're a baseball fan that plays video games and only have 45 minutes or so of time what are you going to do? Try to play a football game when you don't really like that sport (hypothetical because I like football but don't really like Madden but you get the point), play a story mode game and advance 1% of the game in that 45 minutes? or play a ranked season online game or 2 possibly 3 BR games?

I get your logic, and I'm not saying in all cases what I'm saying applies.
But Madden used to be my main online game before I played MLB. The way EA treated it made me mad every time I played. So I stopped, why would I want my main game to be something I despise?It's illogical for the OP to despise the game so much, yet keep it as his main game.
I would rather spend my 45 minutes that you referenced on something I enjoy, obviously the OP does not enjoy 19, so why spend free-time on something that is awful? -
I took 1 month and only came back because the Beta, this game plays so horribly

Lineouts are a problem but I don't complain too much about that, they work for both sides even though it's frustrating. My issue is low power to center and oppo, which is infuriatingly difficult -

19 and 17 are pretty close IMO. I think overall gameplay is better in 17 but only limited to a certain swing type because of the topspin issue and poor servers bring 17 much closer to 19

Don’t forget that in 17, all those very late jammed bloop singles from 19 become 100mph exit velocity bombs.

I feel like in 17 I could pitch confidently, particularly with starting pitching. If I hit my mark on the meter/analog interface the ball went where I aimed and was effective. In 19 that's not the case, well executed input is not rewarded accurately, I'm terrified of hanging any sort of breaking pitch (I'm looking at you 99 Scherzer). Pitching strategy has become load up on flamethrowers, heave it up there as hard as possible and hope my opponent struggles to hit the heat.

I am really not trying to start a fight with you first of all! But when you make a thread about how this game is worse than it's previous version without any facts or anything to back-up your statement makes it very hard for me to believe.
It really makes me sick to think that this is some of the people that put input into how the game needs to be better! MLB 18 literally had issues with contact hitters power not being strong enough on the back end of server- FIXED in 19
Content 19 - Better
Remember what it took to get an Immortal? Collect hats,Jerseys, players, jock straps and god knows what else!
MLB 19 XP Rewards - Better (would like to see an extension from level 100 for people still playing later in the year, bump to 125 in OCT. maybe?)
New Modes in 19 - Better
MLB 19- Card art they absolutely and literally knocked it out of the park in 19.
I could go on but i just had to say while you are entitled to your opinion of course, but if you make a thread about how a game is atrocious!
i would really like to know what made you come up with that conclusion rather than saying "oh well if he says it then it must be true." type of approach you took in this post.
So please enlighten me.

Preach. I think people would be surprised how well it plays if they gave it another shot, especially after dealing with 19. Yeah, it was HR or nothing, but optimal input was consistently rewarded and bad input was punished, at least by the end of the lifecycle. Outcomes simply made a lot more sense. Plus, HRs are inherently fun to hit.
To be clear, we're debating the corniest [censored] here. Not saying either are great, or even good.
