There is nothing wrong with starters out of the pen.
This is Ranked Seasons. People are trying to win stubs, XP, and card rewards. They should have their entire 25-man roster available to them in anyway they see fit.
There are no rules in MLB that prevent a manager from using a player however they want. Position player as pitcher? Why not? A pitcher used as a pinch hitter or pinch runner? Go for it. Whatever you think will help you win the game. SDS did the correct thing by allowing us to do this.
What difference does it make if your opponent uses a SP out of the pen? Your job at the plate is to get hits. Period. Starter, Relief, Closer—it makes no difference. Do your job.
But I will say that if SDS wanted to reduce the usage of SPs out of the pen, they have to release better relievers. I think Rollie is the only reliever over 90. At least he’s all I can think of at the moment.
Lol this is the worst post I’ve read in a long time. Let me know the next time you see a MLB team throw any starter in back to back games just to win
Arizona brought in Randy Johnson in relief of game 7 of the 2001 WS after throwing 7 innings the day before in game 6. For the record, I think being able to throw Kluber 2 innings every game and him not be tired is a problem that should be addressed. However, this system is SO much better than last year where you might not get to use even once him for 15 games. Also, the reason teams don’t use this strategy in the regular season (IMO) is due to fear of injury, which isn’t and shouldn’t be a part of DD. Hopefully they tweak the stamina a bit, but I like the ability to use every pitcher on my team.
It was game 7 of the World Series!! The last freaking game of the season!! There is always an exception! But it doesn’t happen on a regular basis every game during the regular season! I’m a huge DBacks fan btw so I love your choice of example, but let’s be realistic
“It was game 7 of the World Series!!”
“...there is always an exception.”
You just proved our point. If you could just think of every RS game as Game 7 of the World Series then you wouldn’t be on here crying about it.
Now go get some wins, Scooter.
Lol I got plenty wins thanks. I think I’m 71-45? Or something close to that. My Win/Loss record has nothing to do with this topic
You have no leg to stand on. You already proved that having the ability to use starters out of the pen is a legitimate feature.
There are consequences for doing it. Pitchers do lose stamina every time they’re used. You might not like how much they lose, but nevertheless they do lose stamina.
It’s over. You lost.
If you say so buddy. At least you are now admitting it’s a broken mechanic in the game. You’re admitting they don’t lose enough stamina which is a point I agreed on throughout this entire thread
Nah. I said YOU might not like how much stamina they lose. I’m cool with it. You’re just crying for no good reason.
As I said, go play Franchise Mode. I don’t think RS is for you. It’s too cutthroat and you’re too soft.
Dude stop with the petty jabs. How it's currently implemented is pretty weird how it heavily favors starters, and this board is the one place to discuss this sort of thing and try to get SDS to make the game as enjoyable as it can be to as many people.

When I first commented on this thread, I made a reasoned argument. I did not “jab” him. I voiced an opposing opinion and did not insult him in any way.
He responded with, “Lol. This is the worst post I’ve read...”. So you see, he disparaged me with ridicule and hyperbole.
So I decided to lay into him. And I can lay into you, too, Captain Save-A-H*e...
Now, he and you don’t like starters out of the pen. You say the stamina system is all messed up. I disagree. It’s fine the way it is.
So if this is a forum for people to try to get SDS to make the game more enjoyable, I’m saying I enjoy it as it is, at least in regard to the pitcher usage.
Is that okay with you, Captain?

Sorry, I’ve been actually working my job for the last few hours and contributing to society so I am just now seeing this update. As is said multiple.times before, the Opener Strategy becomes more and more popular.
How SDS implented it in the game is the problem!- No Starter subbed in allowed after the 3rd Inning.
- It should hurt his recovery or drain his Stamina faster when subbed in.
- Relievers Stamina needs to be at 100%. I dont understand why they only have 75% Energy from the begin with
Yes if they did something like this I wouldn’t mind so much. There is absolutely no team in the bigs that brings starters in after the 6th inning and that’s what is ticking me off. Either that or limit the amount of starters per game to 2. I got no issue facing 2 starters in a game, but 3-4?? Gimme a break
Half glass full. You will see starters come in after the 6th, BUT it’s never the ace, typically the 4th or 5th starter and its extra innings. Unless it’s postseason. The problem however is almost every ranked season game is like a postseason game, you lose a lot more than you gain the closer you are to WS.

I’m having fun with, Tackleberry. He doesn’t like being called soft.
It’s hilarious to me. Dude complained on the forum and couldn’t handle someone expressing a different point of view. He started belittling me.
I’m just better at it than he is.
It’s really not that serious. But thanks for chiming in, Jack In The Box. I’m sure Tackleberry appreciates you “backing the blue.” Lol

The only people that defend exploits are the people that benefit from them.
Calling someone “Scooter” and generally addressing them like they are an imbecile does not establish you as a baseball god.
Get over yourself, man.

Exploit? It’s not an exploit if everyone can do it.
Baseball god? Have you seen me play? Lol
Get over myself? Nah. I love me some me.

I can do this AAAAALLLLLLLL DDDDDAAAAYYYYY!
So all of you Tackleberry apologists can keep bringing it. I got enough for all y’all.

Is Kluber used this way irl? No way. But I have no doubt if he can throw 110 pitches in a game, he can throw 20 5 days in a row. That’s the argument I don’t understand. They don’t get a chance to do this irl because teams don’t actually have 5 “aces” to throw where they can utalize one in the pen without hurting their starting staff. I’d bet you money if a team had 5 aces and more on the bench, one would be throwing out of the pen. So comparing this to irl is not a good decision anyways.
Back to the game - it is realistic. Their arm isn’t becoming more tired because they’re coming in in relief. Relievers tend to lose stamina quicker because the majority of them throw harder than they would over 9 innings, and they are trained to throw shorter periods of time. Kluber’s velo doesn’t all of a sudden rise as the closer, so his energy shouldn’t be compared to that of a reliever at all. He’s going to have more stamina than them soley because he’s not throwing as hard and his arm is used to throwing longer periods of time. That would be the equivalent of a bullpen to him.
Next - if we want to talk making it “irl,” if a team had the options we have at SP, and the options we have at RP, you don’t think they’d sign more starters and just use them as long relievers and closers? We can’t do that in the game cause we can only have 5 equipped at a time, but that’s what would happen if they had the same staff we have access to. So you can’t say “it doesn’t happen irl” because many things differ here than irl
