There is nothing wrong with starters out of the pen.
This is Ranked Seasons. People are trying to win stubs, XP, and card rewards. They should have their entire 25-man roster available to them in anyway they see fit.
There are no rules in MLB that prevent a manager from using a player however they want. Position player as pitcher? Why not? A pitcher used as a pinch hitter or pinch runner? Go for it. Whatever you think will help you win the game. SDS did the correct thing by allowing us to do this.
What difference does it make if your opponent uses a SP out of the pen? Your job at the plate is to get hits. Period. Starter, Relief, Closer—it makes no difference. Do your job.
But I will say that if SDS wanted to reduce the usage of SPs out of the pen, they have to release better relievers. I think Rollie is the only reliever over 90. At least he’s all I can think of at the moment.
Lol this is the worst post I’ve read in a long time. Let me know the next time you see a MLB team throw any starter in back to back games just to win
Arizona brought in Randy Johnson in relief of game 7 of the 2001 WS after throwing 7 innings the day before in game 6. For the record, I think being able to throw Kluber 2 innings every game and him not be tired is a problem that should be addressed. However, this system is SO much better than last year where you might not get to use even once him for 15 games. Also, the reason teams don’t use this strategy in the regular season (IMO) is due to fear of injury, which isn’t and shouldn’t be a part of DD. Hopefully they tweak the stamina a bit, but I like the ability to use every pitcher on my team.
I agree that the pitcher wheel sucked, but pitcher selection and using starters out of the pen does not have to be all or nothing. You can have pitcher selection without having starters out of the pen.
I also like being able to use my team how I’d like, but irl if I use three starters and end up losing the game, that could ruin my team for the next five days. That is not the case in this game.
Stamina needs a major adjustment if starters out of the pen is going to stick around. At the moment there are almost no drawbacks to using the same guys game after game.

Show me the MLB rule that prevents a manager from using the ball players on his team in any way he sees fit?
[censored] crybaby. Can’t hit so you wanna make SDS create some rules to make it easier for you....
Lol that’s right, I must not be able to hit...go straight to insults instead of using logic. why don’t you show me a manager that uses all his starters every single game of the season?? It’s a rule that he can, but does he do it??? Of course he doesn’t! There is a thing called fatigue, injury, etc. There is also a rule in baseball that says a check swing has nothing to do with if the bat crosses the plate on a swing for it to be considered a strike, it has to do with his intent to swing at the pitch. But do umpires always call check swings strikes?? Of course they don’t.
The rule has nothing to do with anything I’m talking about, so your point has no validity

As is said multiple.times before, the Opener Strategy becomes more and more popular.
How SDS implented it in the game is the problem!- No Starter subbed in allowed after the 3rd Inning.
- It should hurt his recovery or drain his Stamina faster when subbed in.
- Relievers Stamina needs to be at 100%. I dont understand why they only have 75% Energy from the begin with
Yes if they did something like this I wouldn’t mind so much. There is absolutely no team in the bigs that brings starters in after the 6th inning and that’s what is ticking me off. Either that or limit the amount of starters per game to 2. I got no issue facing 2 starters in a game, but 3-4?? Gimme a break
Ive only had to face more than 2 starters like 5 times in 110 games. It really isnt a big deal. Its just another AI throwing a virtual ball to me. Get better at hitting those guys. Just let the rage pass.
Has nothing to do with rage. I hit just fine, especially Newhouser. I actually love when people bring him in out the pen and proceed to destroy high fastballs

I actually agree with this. If the stamina is adjusted and there were actual consequences for people bringing in starters, it would force people to actually think about brining in a starter in relief. Just like a manager IRL would be forced to think about the consequences of his actions for the next game

I generally don’t see an issue when it’s an option for everyone - like when golf freaked out about long putters: if it was such an advantage, everyone would use it...and if you choose not to, that’s on you. Feel kinda the same about the shift - everyone is free to do it, and it comes with advantages and disadvantages.
I’m as annoyed as anyone when Kluber comes in in the 8th when I’m down 1...but nothing stopping me from doing the same, so it doesn’t bother me too much.

I guess the problem I have is there are no consequences for doing it. Stamina really isn’t effected for the next game, and that was a big bullet point that they hit on before launch when they announced this new rule. They got rid of the pitching wheel so you can use the pitcher you want, with the idea of there being consequences for your actions in the form of the stamina bar. Bringing in a starter in relief for 2 innings or more has almost no consequence compared to starting him.

And there in lies the problem. All these people on here saying “it’s a rule” or “get good” or “learn how to hit”. Has nothing to do with it. The meta of the game forces you to play a specific way in order to be competitive. Right now, if I want to be competitive I have to bring starters in out the pen to match my opponent. Could I do it? Sure I could. Should I be forced to? No I shouldn’t. But the fact there is soooo much of an advantage to doing it with so little consequences is the problem

You have no leg to stand on. You have already proven that having the ability to use starters out of the pen is a legitimate feature.
There are consequences for doing it. Pitchers do lose stamina every time they’re used. You might not like how much they lose, but nevertheless they do lose stamina.

There are consequences for doing it. Pitchers do lose stamina every time they’re used. You might not like how much they lose, but nevertheless they do lose stamina.
It’s over. You lost.
If you say so buddy. At least you are now admitting it’s a broken mechanic in the game. You’re admitting they don’t lose enough stamina which is a point I agreed on throughout this entire thread
Nah. I said YOU might not like how much stamina they lose. I’m cool with it. You’re just crying for no good reason.
As I said, go play Franchise Mode. I don’t think RS is for you. It’s too cutthroat and you’re too soft.
Typical 16yr old troll is what you sound like. Going straight to insults and degrading others. I’m a 39 year old police officer who has been on the force almost 20 years...don’t call me soft about anything.

It was game 7 of the World Series!! The last freaking game of the season!! There is always an exception! But it doesn’t happen on a regular basis every game during the regular season! I’m a huge DBacks fan btw so I love your choice of example, but let’s be realistic
“It was game 7 of the World Series!!”
“...there is always an exception.”
You just proved our point. If you could just think of every RS game as Game 7 of the World Series then you wouldn’t be on here crying about it.
Now go get some wins, Scooter.

Take it up with your union. File for bereavement next time you face Kluber out of the pen.

Now can we get off the stupid insults and get back on topic please

I can only hope to develop your level of resiliency, right? Twenty years on the force but can’t face a starter out the pen without coming to the forums to complain about it.
My mom would take my video games away if I b’d and moaned like you do about them.

Obviously you haven’t really read a single word I’ve been saying. I have no issue at all facing a starter out the pen...A STARTER just like you just said. A Singular! One! A guy made a comment earlier about RJ coming into game 7 of the World Series. That’s fine. But did you see RJ, Miguel Batista, and the other 2 starters in the rotation come in?? No you didn’t! And you never will in any game ever!
Get off your imaginary high horse and actually use some common sense...I swear kids these days have no common sense at all

Ranked seasons is Playoffs, not regular season. You win roughly 12 games and you’re back in WS. You what else is like that? THE PLAYOFFS. A loss in this sets you back a lot farther than a loss in any “regular season” would. So think about RS as playoffs and then your problem is solved
