Lost one game 13-2, he couldn't stop hitting home runs. Hopefully just a one off, coz that won't make for a very fun game anymore
That’s fine, I gave up nine runs in the 8th to lose my last game by four. I couldn’t pitch anywhere that wasn’t yanked out for a homer. I think this patch will be a major boost for directional hitters.
Lol everything always benefits directional hitters with you
LOL feel free to check my post history for the many, many posts where I wax lyrical about directional hitting. Think you’ve got me confused with someone else.
Eh maybe...don't really care enough to check. either way

Exit velocities are slower for me. Contact is more consistent but now the majority of my contact is good ok regardless of where the ball seems to be in the pci. Are the rest of you crushing the ball now?

I really hope this patch doesnt stick around long. Making batting easier doesnt fix the skill gap at all. It just makes the game a coin flip of who breaks the opposing pitchers confidence first. What's wrong with a fair competitive game. I don't want to be rewarded for bad timing or mediocre placement. quit trying to let everyone get a trophy. Obviously this is just my opinion. Hopefully I'm not the minority.

Sounds like they want everyone to be competitive to get more money coming in ... Sports games shouldn't be that way, it should be skilled based, of course you expect some sim aspects and can accept that, but mostly skilled based...

Just for the sake of my sanity, did anyone else’s hitting get worse, not better? My runs and hits per game are way down and I can’t hit anything solid. My pitchers are getting decimated, and I was average before. The only kind of hits that’s increased is jam shots and dribblers.
If I’m the only one I’ll chalk it up to a slump. -
Same garbage, different year. I'm an offline player and out of the box this game was absolutely fantastic. And two months later, it's absolute bullocks. The defense is the worst the series has ever seen. This latest patch has made the cpu totally overpowered. Game was solid on 1.10. I'm tired of this trash year after year. I bought a PS4 solely for this game and it's degraded year after year. These [censored] developers listen to the [censored] fanboy children who can't hit a lick and want the game to be easy and so they cater to the wrong demographic all to make an extra buck. I'm disgusted to the point that it's just not worth it anymore. Hurts to say this may be my last iteration of the game. Not gonna continue donating $65 per year for garbage.

I've never hit so many early/good homers until this patch. Hell, even late/goods are homers now. It's open season with homeruns. Give the pitchers some love for once in this game.

The game plays just fine, if not great, offline.

Only thing patch did was allow more ridiculous foul balls on poor timing and more late jammed very early base hits.

The same gameplay issues that plague online play are prevalent in offline play. It's the inconsistent contact results, fielding blunders, and perfect pitch releases going haywire. That's the core of the game and those problems exist regardless of what mode you're playing.

This is the biggest problem with the game, in my opinion. I'm already playing way less, I can't see myself playing at all unless contact results are altered drastically.

I’ve barely had any of those issues offline. I don’t think I’ve seen one fielding blunder, other than normal errors from bad fielders. I don’t have any problems pitching offline either. The contact results can still be a little off at times, but overall they aren’t unbearable.
I go back and forth between online and offline play, and the issues are definitely noticeable online after playing offline for a while. The game is solid offline.

From what I’m seeing in this thread and during gameplay, while this patch has had the desired effect of making hitting easier (And there’s a heavy dose of irony in the fact that a lot of the same people who were loudly shouting about returning the game to “day one hitting” are now saying there’s too much offense) that presents a new set of problems in and of itself.
The hitting engine is flawed. We know this. Sometimes batted ball outcomes don’t always make sense, but most of the time the swing feedback doesn’t make sense. The swing feedback reporting incorrect hit information is the real deal breaker in my opinion. The problem is twofold, just as the swing mechanics have two parts, timing and accuracy, we have two issues to address. Now first, as I’ve said the timing inaccuracies are too great. I believe that this year, you tried to include JE and JL within the realm of good timing (fair enough, being a hair early isn’t necessarily a bad swing) to negate a lot of the complaints. I’m getting good swing timing feedback on swings where I was clearly late at a minimum, if not very late, though. That gives people a false belief that their input is good and they should be rewarded, when in fact, it’s not the case. If the feedback for timing was tidied up and more accurate, you’d see less complaints about good timing swings.
The PCI accuracy feedback component is similarly flawed in some ways, however, I’d like to point out at this juncture that SDS are responsible in large part for not providing enough information. I’ve noticed that the most important aspect of PCI placement is your swing plane. By which I mean, it’s much more important to be accurate vertically, than horizontally. You can often hit a home run with the PCI not on the ball, particularly with pitches that break across the plate, such as cutters, sliders and so on, as long as your bat plane is good. Now in terms of actual baseball, this makes sense on many levels. It’s just not explained clearly enough to users and the result is, of course, more complaints.
Finally, although I see you’ve tried to offer more information to hitters about the type of card they’re using and what their approach should be with each player with the new PCI centre design, it’s pretty clear some users still don’t actually grasp the difference between a perfect liner with Kenny Lofton as opposed to a perfect liner with Joey Gallo. I’m not saying you should offer absolutes and statements that can be picked apart and disproved by YouTube nerds, I understand why you’d avoid that. Just highlight information we already have in game. A good example is the guide in the pause menu when playing vs. CPU, which most people probably don’t even know exists. This guide contains valuable information and explains a lot about hitting. It helps to emphasise the different approaches needed with different types of hitter, not just the four groupings of Contact, Balanced, Power and Pitcher, but also the tendancy aspect of being an extreme pull hitter or a balanced hitter. I promise you nobody is paying attention to the subtle nuances of the game, because you don’t offer easy access to the relevant information. It will really cut down on complaints about hitting if you make these things more obvious. There will always be stupid people who just want to hit home runs constantly and don’t care about strategy, but if you want people to appreciate the depth you’re attempting to provide with all these subtle pieces of extra information and layers to hitting and by inverse logic, pitching, you need to let them know about it. If they choose not to use it to get better results, that’s on them, but at least put it out there for people to find easily. -

If I’m the only one I’ll chalk it up to a slump.Yes. For the first five or so games. I even posted about it. Then something changed. I’m making solid contact again. Maybe I just needed to readjust to the timing window. Who knows. How much have you played since the update? Maybe give it a few more games.

After playing a lot of games post patch, I still think the hitting timing is broken! I am squaring up the ball straight over the plate and the feedback says very early! I am also still getting too many goog/good and balls right in the middle of the PCI and somehow hitting home runs and doubles on balls that don't even touch the PCI! How hard is it to get this right?
-
I am actually enjoying the game again across all modes. Are there problems? Of course, but fine tuning from here is better than it has been. No need to go back to how it has been the last couple months. Expanding the strike zone would be a good start.

The hitting in 20 sucks it has ruin the game for me but of corse I'd quit playing it but with real baseball off the air still it's my only fix I'm tired of trying do anytype of hitting mission and having perfect or good timing plu contact and hitting a groundball and on top I just finished a game on allstar mode where the CPU therw 66/86 pitches out of the strike zone and I'm tired of facing guys like Walker beulher and only seeing his off speed pitches fix this!!!!
