Update 1.11 Discussion

The game was so competitive. There was a real skill gap. You couldn’t just foul everything off. Better players were winning games. Now HOF feels like all star.
-
When are you guys going to fix the catcher throwing meter problem. There's a trophy tied to a perfect throw from the catcher.

Second RS Game today was fun being down 7-2 after 6 and winning 8-7 in the Bottom of the 9th with a fly ball against the LF Wall and FS Marsh not knowing where the ball is. That scored my winning run from 1st.
But Fielding is fine lol...
Btw.
Hit a No Doubt HR with FOTF Buxton with Contact Swing and a Oppo Taco HR with 99 Posey also with Contact Swing.
I think there a still flaws...oppo taco? what the heck are you saying???? its gotta be some lame phrase you heard online. that reeks of the little fat kid or his pal gumby. oppo taco? smh. just say opposite field like an adult would say.

SDS, I would like to sincerely thank you for attempting to fix hitting. I'm serious, its good to see that you guys acknowledge that there is an issue. However, this patch improved nothing. The good/okays are still there and it doesn't seem like the rate at which they occur has changed. Until that is fixed, hitting will not be good. I think this patch may have made things worse to be honest. With increased timing windows and PCI sizes, pitching is [censored] near impossible. I saw more lunging swings result in foul tips today than I have in the past week before the patch. And when you can't locate pitches despite good user input, you have pitchers getting rocked all over the place.
There are 2 things that need to happen next. Number 1, reduce the amount of good/okays on good PCI placement, and number 2, make user input matter when pitching. I think PCI size should also go back to where it was before. That was never the issue. Again, thank you for trying SDS, but we are still a long way off
Edit: I forgot one thing. Exit velocities should never be slower than the speed at which the pitch was thrown on perfect/perfect or good/squared swings. I hit a perfect liner with Victorino yesterday that had an exit velo of 93 mph when the pitch was 98 mph. That's just physically impossible. I know Victorino doesn't have a ton of power, but if its squared up perfectly its not going to lose velocity

Yes, hitting is waaay better now. 1st game I played in RS tonight, I had 4 doubles, 1 triple, 1 hr in a 5-2 win. 2nd game I played I lost 5-1 vs Kluber, but put a tonne of balls in play..
We have to remember that this videogame has to be fun. That’s the whole point - to have fun. Even when I won w the last patch, it wasn’t a fun experience. SDS Let’s keep it this way. Thx!
Fun but simulation fun, if you're hitting all the time easily it's not fun... Pitching hitting should be a chess match, not some easy hit wiffle ball experience...

That's unfortunate ... How is it playing offline vs the CPU on HOF ?

Lost one game 13-2, he couldn't stop hitting home runs. Hopefully just a one off, coz that won't make for a very fun game anymore
That’s fine, I gave up nine runs in the 8th to lose my last game by four. I couldn’t pitch anywhere that wasn’t yanked out for a homer. I think this patch will be a major boost for directional hitters.
Lol everything always benefits directional hitters with you

I’m enjoying the game and I think it’s playing well. Leave it the way it is.

Since this update was released, I have been getting smacked around. My aces (99 Kluber and Graterol, both of which have thrown perfect games for me) have been throwing bp. Some of the runs are my fault, but these pitchers were so nasty before the patch. I think the timing windows fix was needed but not the PCI size. I can't get out of innings. I also seem to hit way more good/okays than I used to and haven't really noticed the changes. Some of that could be frustration or a slump that coincidentally started about the same time. I threw a cg shutout with Kersh, however. My relievers seem to be doing fine too. I also noticed that I can suddenly bat better with Belli since the update.

Placebo patch 1.11. Pci size wasnt the issue. Pci outcomes is a major issue. I'm not touching ranked season or putting anymore money into the game until pci outcomes are corrected and pitching is fixed. Really guys? Pitching control is atrocious. 1st inning of work for chappy(1st batter actually) and I attempt to throw a slider down and in, in the zone ,to a RH batter. Perfect release and it brushes him back by almost hitting his back foot. Pitching is far to inconsistent. That's probably the biggest problem right now.
Pci outcomes are a major issue*

Has SDS ever made a patch for pitching? I really can't remember a patch that was focused on control, HR/9, or BB/9.
-
This patch made the game much worse. Since the game came out, pretty much every patch has made the game worse. What an absolute failure from SDS. We need a new baseball game.
-
Hey homers that are saying it’s great. Tell the truth, you can’t pitch, there are still dumb errors on defense and outfielders at times just half [censored] to the balk allowing extra bases. I have 5 of the best pitchers in the game and they hand at least 2 pitches per at bat during the game. I don’t want a [censored] homerun derby like in br and events. I want a game where you earn runs not hit homeruns for every run scored.
-
Everyone complaining that you can't pitch anymore. Is it possible that you can't just blow fastballs past people that before the patch had no chance of touching them?
I'm not saying pitching isn't flawed, I'm getting hit harder too, but before the patch I had days where you could toss 95mph fastballs right down the middle all game and strike me out 20 times.
I'm not being confrontational, I don't know what the answer is, but half the players being completely helpless against fastballs isn't it.
-
Just had another game where they are hitting non stop home runs, and I can barely hit. Before the patch I was competitive, now I might as well but a blindfold on and hope for the best. Guess I'll have to start up a franchise coz this is a joke

Problem with this patch is it destroyed pitching. Timing windows were bad, because they were inconsistent and unforgiving, but the pci size was a non issue in my opinion. I’d love to have seen timing windows opened up just slightly and the PCI left alone, because I think that would have kept the balance pretty even. As it stands, I’m struggling to pitch, which was always the main focus of the game for me. Small sample size and I can’t get out of all star hell, so I’ve not had the chance to play a proper game online yet, this is a very early impression.
My suggestion to improve the state of hitting would have been to open the timing windows slightly (in laggy away games or at some MLB stadiums, it was to difficult to hit the ball pre patch), reduce the amount of weakly hit good/okay on swings that had good timing and the PCI on the ball and maybe even reduce the PCI size slightly as a trade off.
It sounds counter intuitive initially, especially when the patch is designed to make hitting easier, but with the swing timing window increase and reduction in good/okay giving rise to more hits anyway, the PCI shrinking (by say 10%?) would have been a fair trade off in my opinion. I’m going to try to get out of this all star madness (tough when you give up so many homers no matter where you try to pitch) and see how the game plays on better settings at HoF, but for now, I think there’s too much emphasis on offence at all star level and pitching is a nightmare. My ERA is 5.85 this season, which is absolutely disgusting. Looking at WS, ERAs are eye popping. Rebel is supposedly the best player in the game, but pitches to a 6.92 ERA. I’m sorry but if you’re giving up seven runs a game, you’re not good. Yeah, he never loses and he hits over .500 in his 12 games this season, but personally if you’re giving up seven runs a game on average, you shouldn’t be the greatest player of all time. Maybe the greatest hitter, but that’s only half the game. There’s people at the top of the leaderboards pitching to 8+. That ain’t right. -
Oh and I filled out the survey, but obviously that was based on the last two months of gameplay. Answers may not apply post 1.11.
