This year’s rewards

Do you guys notice that this year’s 300 star inning rewards are like last year’s 150 star rewards at best?

Yep. Last year, we had a lot of 99's at this point...which people were complaining about. Guess SDS realized not everyone needs to be a 99.

I prefer the slow buildup. If I had things my way,, it wouldn't even be possible to get a non-live series diamond until at least a month into the game cycle.

Not everybody plays this for 12 months. That would be so slow and boring for a lot of people.

You have a point. Almost no live series players are relevant right now. It’s crazy.

Hmm Chipper Jones, Brian Roberts, and Shane Victorino or Eric Hosmer, Tommy Pham, and versions of lefty grove and Matt williams that were worse than their WS rewards? I Know my choice. The 3rd inning last year didn't start until the end of May last year. The henchman weren't good until the 7th inning on. People playing the game more means you just don't realize that we are probably ahead of schedule on the overall of cards compared to last year at this time

It's more like we are still receiving rewards comparable to the 1st Inning rewards from MLBTS 19.
Presaging them is nice, but good luck getting those stats on a players who will be riding your bench within the next 1-2 months.

My post was mostly inspired by the André Dawson card. I logged on excited to get started on that program and then saw the card and was pretty underwhelmed.
I don’t mind not having 99’s but the arbitrary boosting or deflating of card attributes is getting to me. On the one hand we have kind of lame versions of Dawson and Griffey, but then all these god-like future star cards on the other hand?
It’s starting to feel like my chain is being yanked.

Those three are amongst the best cards you can buy on the market, and all three are capable of becoming better. They are nothing like last year's 150 awards. You can't look at the cards that are coming down the road, but rather judge them against the cards that are on the market here and now.

If you turn them red, they will still be amongst the best in two months. You got to think a little longer term for the 98s and 99s.

Chipper's defensive ratings make him a bench bat NOW. There is no way I start Chipper over FOTF Moncada. Granted, Chipper as a bench bat will have more long term value than Roberts or Victorino because his mix of contact/power/vision will allow him to live on my bench through early August (at least,) but even with prestige he will remain a bench bat at best.
