Sometimes you look back and go "why the heck did i post this?" That's me currently. Nothing here was said that hasn't been said a million times already.

First off, I applaud San Diego Studios for listening to problems the community has with the game and at the very least making some effort to address them. I say some effort because some of those problems are still problems. Sinkers should not warp to home plate but that's not what this is about. Now with that being said, the problem is the timing windows.
On the outside part of the plate, a good majority of "Late" and "Just Late" swings are not really that late if late at ALL. It feels like you almost have to be out in front of a fastball on the outer third to line it the opposite way. You can't let the ball get deep on you at all and that's a problem.
The inside part of the plate is worse. It's ridiculous how far in front of a high and tight fastball you have to be to have a "perfect" swing. Even worse, the "Later side of good" situation. If you were ACTUALLY on the later side of good on an inside pitch (assuming good contact), at the absolute worst you'd be taking it to left center with a RHH and you wouldn't lose 20mph in exit velo in the process like in this game. What masked this problem last year before timing windows were changed was the ball being significantly bigger and brighter. The ball was easier to track, making it easier to hit. Depth perception wasn't a problem like in this game with the ball being so small. If you disagree with that statement at all, go into practice mode and have the pitcher throw sliders and curveballs across the bottom of the zone. Have fun with those late swings.
My solution? Eliminate the "early side of good" and "the later side of good" pitch feedback, and then fix the timing windows accordingly.
Will any of this happen? I HIGHLY doubt it. And again i'm not bashing the game or the developers. I just think this is too big of an issue for it to not have been addressed already. -

don't disrespect the future indians legend like that.

Swinging early is how you easily gain loft IRL. That's also why most of the big home run hitters don't have a super high average, they sell out for fastballs. The ones that do are usually generational talents. Bonds, Griffey, Vlad Jr and Sr, etc.

Maybe place your PCI just a little under? Why should they patch something that “you” can’t hit?
Because it's broken, that's why. You wouldn't see everybody complaining if that wasn't the case.

HOF is indeed on crack. In previous years, I was always a .290-.300 hitter. This year I legitimately haven't cracked .250 in any season so far.
it's because pinpoint pitching is too easy and many people have mastered it
Nope. Hitting was going to be harder this year without pinpoint anyway. It seems like they juiced up the pitch speeds, pitch break, and timing windows. The ball is also smaller. Everything needs to be toned back about 3 notches and they need to completely redo the sinker...

@vagimon_psn said in HOF pitch speeds:
They can keep the speeds as is, but give me a little more leeway with the timing windows.
Agree. I can pull an inside fastball foul about 10 times in a row or get jammed trying to sit back. Hardly ever do I sent it down the line or get a base hit through the gap. I think everyone would benefit from the speeds getting turned down also.

People have been making these pronouncements for many years now, and yet the game lives on.
hitting has never been this bad though. Hitting in 19 and 20 was miles better than the steaming pile we've got with this game.

Ground ball to second... the real shippett special

I can't be the only one who thinks this. Sinkers thrown knee high to around belt high are literally screwballs. Thrown any higher and it literally defies every physics lesson I've ever been taught...
Sinkers to me look like a Devin Williams change-up but around 30 mph faster with an increased chance of my nice new all-star bat skin shattering into a million pieces and possibly killing someone in the process.
I can still hit the stupid thing, but I have to butcher my entire hitting approach just to cheat to a pitch meant for me to put it in play more often than not against someone who isn't Jordan Hicks himself. I've only played 2 ranked seasons games in the past month because of it. one resulted in a war against Cliff Lee and the other ended with a satisfying grand slam off of Edward Cabrera.
From what I've seen, the 2-seam acts WAY more like a sinker than the actual sinker. A middle ground has to be found somewhere I hope...

I really want to get Trea's bat into my lineup, but I value defense very highly. I currently have Story locking down SS for me, so I'm thinking of putting Trea at either 2B or CF. Has anyone had any problems with him in either of these positions? Or is he passable enough? I have him parallel 2 so I'll get a silver shield in any spot. Thanks in advance
Without a doubt the worst defender I’ve had all year. 1 out of every 5 routine gorund balls will be booted. I had to replace him with Trammell just to get some solid play at short.

David Ortiz. Forbes Field. He hit it across the street. No official distance, it broke statcast.

I've been getting tired of this lately seeing it more and more now than I was before. Why is this a thing?
Heck I'd take a base hit if you want just please no hits that are caught every time or grounders to first on a perfect swing.
We get penalized for getting a perfect hit? How does this even remotely make sense?
So your saying that basically we get penalized for good timing and yet sometimes you can get bases from lates to very early -very lates, why is this still even a thing?
Also I notice people saying how last year the hitting was easier, is that likely due to people saying it was too easy lolYou’re right about hitting being easier last year. SDS’s idea of perfect timing is flawed. A perfect timed swing on an away pitch goes up the middle 7/10 times. I have noticed after the content update that significantly more line drives are getting down for hits with good contact hitters. They’re definitely doing some secret changes.
This needs to happen soon.
